HOW THE PAGES LINKBY ROB GARTLAND

NME

How do they link?

• NME have successfully used a house style colour of white and black to make there pages link clearly and well together.

• They use a conventional up close shot which creates an intensity with the reader who is looking at it, as Florence is looking straight into the camera it draws the reader in.

• They have continued the white and black on all three pages giving the reader a clear magazine brand design.

• The facial expression is almost blank and very stern with a slight smile, this creates an almost hard exterior and links with the NME magazine brand idea they have embodied before.

BILLBOARD

How do they link?

• They have used the White text scheme they have on the front cover on the double page spread but there is no real link between the pages to do with the artist, however the design of each page and the layout is all fitted to the billboard design and you can clearly tell there from the same publication.

• The front cover photo is effective using minimal make-up and a simple pose it creates an effective and unique design making the reader interested and engaged with the front cover.

• The opposite type of picture is used on the Double Page Spread they have used a more subtle and relatable photo creating a slicker and nicer final design.
