Youth Conference 2013 Talk (3)
Sacrifices !!!
• And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels which were in the tabernacle; even those the priests and the Levites brought up. And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who had assembled to him, were with him before the ark sacrificing sheep and oxen which could not be counted nor numbered for multitude. 1 kings 8: 4,5
St John Chrysostom on Phil 2
He became obedient as a Son to
His Father; by this very act above all
others guarded his wondrous
Sonship, by thus greatly honoring the
Father
Into its Place
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD into its place, into the holy place of the house, into the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubs. 1 kings 8:6
When all come out, His glory will fill us
And it happened when the priests had come out of the
Holy of Holies, the cloud filled the house of the
LORD. 1 kings 8:10
His Glory will minister
And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD had filled the
house of the LORD. 1 King 8:11
St. Epiphanius PG 41, 980C.
Christ is all, the priest, the altar, the sacrifice, the lamb, the king, the man and God.
He did all this for our salvation
1- The Sacraments: Sacraments makes God dwells in us
(Jn6:56). Sacraments enters us (mystically) in
God’s very life “Divine Life”(2Cor4:10,11).
Eucharistic presence & exchange of lives with Christ (Gal2:20).
He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. Jn 6:56
St. Augustine
"Through the Holy Eucharist the faithful eat
and drink the Life of Christ.
10 Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our
body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that
the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 2 Cor
4:10,11
I I II have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
Himself for me. Gal 2:20
2 - Reading the word of God: God is not separated from his word “Lectio
Divina”. The word of God brings us into his presence
“Shakinah”. The word of God carries his power ”Dynamis”
& authority within(Ecc8:4),(Heb4:12).
Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, “What are
you doing?”Eccl 8:4
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any
two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and
of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:12
3- Invoking The Name Of Christ: The power of the Name. ( 14 times in 1 Kings
8) Prayer (liturgical or personal),(1king8:54),
(Mat18:20). God is present among the Praises of his
People, The Word ”Jew” from “Jude” which means “to praise” describing the nature of his people),(ps22:3).
For where two or three are gathered together
in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Matt 18:20
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men
by which we must be saved.”Acts 4:12
4-Doing simple things for the sake of his Love:
God is present in the “Other”(Gen33:10),(Matt 25:40).
God manifests in our daily routine work, same as he is present in super natural experiences.
“Love”(in actions) is the divine standard and condition to encounter God(Col3:23),(3Jn:11).
And Jacob said, “No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I have seen
your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased
with me. Gen 33:10
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My
brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matt 25:40
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
Col 3:23
