How to Draw Different Manga Eyes

STEP 1.

 First I will be showing you the eyes numbered. I will use these numbers to explain what to do and to give details about the

relating eyes.

 First, just draw some horiontal lines to either determine how to pla!e the eyes and how big you want them to be. I drew the

number of lines I thought was !lear enough for the relating eyes.

 

STEP 3.

 "he next step is to start drawing lines that generally determine the shape of the eyes you want to draw. I tried to use as

basi! shapes as possible, but it is o#ay to s#ip this and some of the following parts and draw more advan!ed shapes if

you$re more experien!ed. "he shape I used the most is the !ir#le, sin!e the eye is rather round than angular.

 

STEP 4.

 %ow try to put a little more detail in the shapes and maybe add the basi! lines for the iris of some of the eyes already.

 &lmost everything !ould be done with basi! shapes. note' if you$re using !ir#les, ma#e them big to !reate more slightly

!urved lines as in nr. (, ) and * +ou might be able to see how your eye is going to loo# for a bit already. in!e nr. - has a

basi! shape of itself already, I started adding details li#e a pupil and the line for the eyelashes. +ou !an just draw a rough

oval for nr. and the iris of nr./ sin!e you !an bring more shape to them during the pro!ess.

STEP 5.

 &s for the most of the eyes it$s still about adding more details to either the form or the pupils. I started using read lines here

so that it was still !lear anough to see what step to ta#e. I$d li#e to mention that you !an now see nr ) and * weren$t drawn in

a false position. It was mere to use basi! forms for the shapes of the eyes in an easier way. +ou !an now see how your

eyes$s shape will be and you !an see the basi! lines of some details you$re going to add.

 

STEP 6.

 %ow it$s time to start adding #ind of details into the eyes li#e lashes 0(,- and 12, lines you$re going to draw the lashes on 0),

*2 and3 or determine where the highlights are going to be 0/,12. Ma#e sure you don$t draw these $details$ too a!!urate yet as

you$re supposed to draw over it and erase it just as the rest of the basi! lines. If you$re wor#ing in a programm on your p!,

adding !olour might be easier. &lthough, I wouldn$t re!ommend this for the traditional artists sin!e !olours are harder to

erase.

STEP 7.

 %ext is finishing these details before drawing them over or in#ing them. &s you !an see I repeated some of the steps for the

other eyes now too.

 

STEP 8. "he following step is simply drawing the eyes over3 in#ing them. 4at!h !losely what lines I in#ed. 4ith the in#ing I drew

some !urves for the eyelids and I added extra lines 0hat!hed it2 on the left side of nr (, ) and * to !reate the shape and

effe!t you want them to be.

 

STEP 9.

 "his is how the eyes will loo# after you erased the basi! lines. I$m going a bit further in this tutorial with adding fitting

eyebrows now, but you !an also de!ide to try and add your own ideas to the eyes you$ve drawn.

STEP 10.

 "hese won$t ta#e mu!h steps at all and as you !an see it$s a!tually pretty easy sin!e the only thing you have to do is

drawing a line in the shape that fits with the emotion the eye is showing and give it more shape by adding slightly more or

less !urved lines alongside the !urves of the basi! ones. +ou !an also add lines to the !urves one by one 0li#e you$re

!olouring it2 to ma#e them thi!#er at some points. "his will ma#e it easier to determine the right shape of the eyebrow, but it

will be harder to erase when you try to undo a flaw.

 

STEP 11.

 "he last thing is in#ing the eyebrows3 drawing them over and erase possible basi! lines and you$re done5 It may seem hard

in the beginning, but try to improvise on the shapes so you !en personalie them and they will be easier for you to draw.

%ext to that, try to wat!h the several shapes !arefully. I wish you all good lu!# with drawing these eyes and eventually
