How to use the resources eCPD Resources
Introduction
These resources are primarily for the Mentor to support the training. Using the following process, the Mentor is guided in their
role and how they can utilise the learner resources in the best way possible for a meaningful and positive placement.
The following resources are available:
• Childcare Handbooks
• Dental Handbooks
• Health & Social Care Handbooks
• Initial Assessment eCPD Resources
• Mentor Introduction Handbook
• Sector specific Mentor Passports: Childcare, Dental and Health and Social Care
• Work Placement Documents

The Mentor Introduction Handbook is a
general guide to support the Mentor
whilst working with the Trainee.
The Mentor Handbook has the following
detail:
1. A link to the Profiles for Care Initial
Assessment Tool
2. Tips for Mentoring
3. Induction Tips
4. Induction Checklist
5. Links to sector specific handbooks:
Childcare, Dental and Health &
Social Care.
The Work Placement documents need to
be utilised at this stage by the Mentor.
The document order would be as follows:
1. Work Experience sector request
form.
2. Work Experience Agreement
3. Work Experience Placement Log
Book
4. Work Experience Evaluation Form
(Learner)
5. Work Experience Evaluation
(Manager/Employer)

Introduction Handbook
The Childcare Mentor Passport is to be used by the Mentor in conjunction with the
general Mentor Support Passport and the 6 Childcare handbooks. The 6 handbooks are
to be followed in this order:
1. Policies and Procedures
2. Formulae Feeding
3. Childcare Room Layout
4. Temperatures and Weights
5. Finance
6. Job Application

The Dental Mentor Passport is to be used by the Mentor in conjunction with the
Mentor Support Passport and the 6 Dental Handbooks. The 6 handbooks are to be
followed in this order:
1. Is it Safe?
2. National Smile Month
3. Appointments
4. Stock Check
5. Surveys
6. Treatments

Handbooks
The Health & Social Care Mentor Passport is to be used by the Mentor in conjunction
with the Mentor Support Passport and the 8 Health & Social Care Handbooks. The 8
handbooks are to be followed in this order:
1. Policies and Procedures
2. Health and Safety
3. Infection Control
4. Layout of a room
5. Money Management
6. Party Planning
7. Job Descriptions
8. Job Roles
