We are proud to present another of our success stories – the hpm-twister, an innovative and amazingly versatileproduct that can be used in a range of applications.

Premex Reactor AG - one step aheadof technology!

  • innovativePressure station on standThe pressure gauge and measuringtransducer are vital instruments, which are combined in the stand-mounted pressure station. Coiled spiralpipework is used to pass pressurereadings from the interior of the auto-clave to the instruments.

Rest for autoclave coverThe rest for the autoclave cover isanother practical idea. The magneticstirrer head and all the other fittingscan be removed from the vessel togetherwith the autoclave cover, then carefullyplaced on the rest. The flexible pipeworkis easy to manoeuvre. The submergedtubes and the stirrer are left untouch-ed, suspended from the rest. At thispoint the vessel can be removed.

Socket panel on standConnecting our “twister” couldn’t beeasier. A panel on the stand includesall the sockets you need for connect-ing to the “c-m2” control unit.

Swivel attachment for stirrer motorThe precision swivel attachment meansthat the stirrer motor can be disen-gaged from its flexible engagementcoupling and swung out to one side. The speed of the stirrer motor is deter-mined by the “c-m2” control unit.

Heating or cooling units and removing the vesselPremex Reactor AG offers two alterna-tive heating and cooling systems forthe “twister”. You can choose eitherelectric heating or a double-shell designusing thermal oil. The standard equip-ment for electric heating includes analuminium shell incorporating theheating elements and the cooling spiralfor cold water. Heat is transferredquickly and evenly from the aluminiumshell to the autoclave vessel, via a copper shell. The end result is an eventransfer of heat, with no sudden tem-perature increases. The cooling spiral is extremely effective and is sufficient, under normal circumstances even forexothermal reactions. The double-shellthermal oil heating/cooling is alsodesigned in two parts. The outer seg-ment is the double shell, equipped withfins to guide the oil. Copper, the optimumconductor of heat, is used here too, transferring the heat inwards to theautoclave vessel. Something else thatmakes Premex Reactor AG heatingsystems so special is the ability toremove the autoclave as a completelyseparate unit.

Flexible pipeworkThe pipework used by Premex ReactorAG is as flexible as we are. Coiled pipesrun from the autoclave cover to thefixed connections, providing maximumfreedom of movement. The autoclavecover can be lifted, complete with itsfittings, and placed in its rest withoutthe need to disconnect any of the valves or connections. That means it is never difficult to remove the vesselfor emptying or cleaning.Coolant supply and return

We keep the “twister” cool so you canconcentrate on other things. The cool-ing system is a complete package – withthe electric cooling valve in the base, the supply and return pipes on thestand, and the power supply on thesocket panel.

    well designedflexible

Jaw lockThe jaw lock is easy to open and closewith no force required. Our secret? Thelock is in two halves that close aroundthe autoclave and are sealed effort-lessly using a hand wheel.

  • AC motor controlled by a frequencyconverter. A flexible coupling is usedto connect it to the magnetic stirrerhead.

Swivel attachment for stirrer drive. The stirrer motor can be swung in andout until it reaches the precision stop.

Stand-mounted pressure station, including pressure gauge and measu-ring transducer, connected to the auto-clave cover by means of coiled pipes.

Stand with socket panel on sidefor electrical connections.

Frame mount for fixed connec-tions. Flexible coiled pipes run fromthe autoclave cover to the fixed connections.

Flexible coiled pipes work likesprings to provide maximum freedomof movement.

Magnetic stirrer head, completewith engagement coupling (for con-necting to motor). The speed can bemeasured directly at the drive shaft ofthe magnetic stirrer head, with thereadings processed digitally.

The standard unit is supplied withthe following fittings: sample-takingvalve with submerged tube to the bottom of the autoclave, gas inputvalve, pressure release valve, springpressure safety valve, submerged temperature sensor and connection to stand-mounted pressure station.

    Practical rest for the autoclavecover.

There is a choice of gas injectionstirrer, disk blade stirrer, propellerstirrer or anchor stirrer. One of thesestirrer options is supplied with theautoclave.

Premex Reactor AG offers two different lock systems: the tried-and-tested jaw lock, or high-tensile boltsand nuts for pressures exceeding 200 bar.

The autoclave vessel can be remo-ved from the heating/cooling unit as aseparate unit. In the locking systemusing the two half jaws, the sealingring rests loose in the autoclave vessel. In the high-tensile bolt system, the flatseal is fixed to the autoclave cover.

In the jaw lock system, the O ringseal between autoclave cover and vessel is made of Kalrez, EPDM or Viton. The standard model can be used fortemperatures up to 250°C with a Kalrezseal. The high-tensile bolt system usesflat seals made of pure silver, PTFE car-bon or Graphoil. The standard model, when used for temperatures up to350°C, is supplied with a silver seal.

We offer two different heating/cooling systems – one using electricheating, and the other using a doubleshell for thermal oil. The electric systemincorporates the heating elements anda cooling spiral for cold water withinan aluminium block. Heat as well ascold are transferred via the aluminiumblock to the inner copper shell, and onto the autoclave vessel. The thermal oilsystem uses a double-shell design. This double-shell is equipped with finsto guide the oil, and an inner coppershell transfers the heat, as well as cold,on to the autoclave vessel.

The rear of the autoclave baseincludes two plug-type connectionsfor coolant supply and return. The cooling valve is built into the base. Theplug-type connections and the coolingvalve are only fitted on models usingthe electric heating system.

Control unit case. A modern,light-grey aluminium case, with anintegral three-position support thatdoubles as a carrying handle. Thenatural silver coloured front and rearpanels have abrasion-resistant mar-kings, anodised under the final coating. The “c-m2” control unit is 320 mmwide (including support), 350 mmdeep and 210 mm high.

The AC758 controller is a cascadecontroller and programmable control-ler combined. A cascade controller isable to regulate the internal temper-ature and shell temperature simultan-eously, thereby preventing the internaltemperature rising above the set value. The software-based “programmablecontroller” can be used to implementsmall and large scale temperatureprograms, with gradual temperaturechanges, holding times and sequentialoperations. And there is more – theAC758 controller includes a digitalmotor speed indicator at the bottomright of the display.

SA3 security switch. This safetycut-out monitors the internal temper-ature and/or shell temperature, check-ing it against an adjustable maximumsetting. If the temperature exceeds themaximum setting, the heating is cutoff with no override possible. The cooling remains unaffected. The upperdisplay of the security switch alsoshows the pressure inside the reactor.

Main switch. The green illumin-ated pushbutton is used to switch onthe power to all components in thecontrol system.

Heating switch. The red illumin-ated pushbutton can be used to switchthe heating on and off independentlyof the controller.

Cooling switch. Pressing the blue illuminated pushbutton activates cooling immediately, independently of the controller. To activate “controllercooling”, this function must be switched off.

Stirrer switch. The yellow illumin-ated pushbutton switches the stirreron and off.

Stirrer motor speed control. The central component in controllingthe stirrer motor is the potentiometer(rotary knob). The speed is shown inrpm at the bottom right of the AC758controller display. The fuses are at therear of the control unit, with electricalplug-type connections for attachingthe autoclave.

Connection to stirrer motor.A seven-pin plug is used to connect tothe stirrer motor. The stirrer motor iscontrolled by the built-in frequencyconverter, which has a maximum loadof 370 W.

Connection to heating.A four-pin, two-phase plug is used asthe main heating connection. Maxi-mum heating output: 3000 W.

Connection to cooling valve.A three-pin plug is used as the connec-tion to the cooling valve integrated intothe autoclave frame. It is controlledautomatically via the programmablecontroller, or manually by pressing theilluminated pushbutton.

Connection to temperature sen-sor 1. This connection is used to attachthe 2 x Pt100 temperature sensor (threeleads) of type K or type N, and allowsthe temperature inside the medium tobe measured (product temperature).

Connection to temperaturesensor 2. This is the connection for the2 x Pt100 temperature sensor (threeleads) used for monitoring the heatingcontrol and security switch. If type K or type N sensors are used, it onlyperforms the function of heatingmonitoring – an additional connectionis required for the security switch.

Connection to temperaturesensor 3. A connection for a type K ortype N sensor carrying out the securityswitch function.

Connection to motor speed display. A two-pin plug is used totransmit the measured speed of thestirrer to the AC758 controller, where it is shown in the lower display.

Connection to emergency cooling valve. This connection is usedto control an emergency cooling valvewhich is regulated by an adjustablealarm signal at the temperature con-troller. This optional extra is requiredfor strongly exothermal reactions.

Analogue output to printer. Theanalogue printer output means thatdata – such as product temperaturereadings, heating readings, mediumtemperature settings or the speed ofthe stirrer motor – can be permanentlyrecorded.

Connection to pressure indi-cator. This socket is used to transmitthe pressure reading from the pressuremeasuring transducer to the SA3 –security switch, where the pressure isshown in bar at the top of the display.

RS485 interface. When used incombination with the specially develop-ed software suite, the RS485 data logging and PC connection interfaceopens up a wealth of applications. Thetwo sockets, one above the other, makeit possible to interconnect a number of control units, or connect auxiliaryequipment via the software.

    Socket for mains power230 V/ A.

Fuses for heating, one for eachphase, 2 x 10 A.

Fuse for electronic system, 2.5 A.
