Band 5/6Sample 1 – Examiner’s AnnotationsSample Play: Arcadia by Tom Stoppard

■ The overall impact of the model delivers an effective interpretation of the play with provision of a range ofplaying spaces within a standard box set.

■ There are elements in the work that indicate some creativity but it is not fully unified in its vision.■ While the vision is not fully unified there is creativity and some flair.■ The candidate has considered all sight lines and has achieved an effective composition through colour and

texture.■ Space has been organised through levels to provide intimate acting areas and effective entrances.■ The flatness of the walls is at odds with textural nature of the rest of the set.■ The model is well-constructed with some effective detailing of features.

Note: Although the samples selected represent a borderline achievement for the project as a whole, the students' achievementas measured against any one of the three individual marking criteria may have been noticeably above or below the typical borderline achievement.
