Why Hull?

Hull is City of Culture 2017 for good reason; Hull is steeped in history.

From the home of William Wilberforce, the abolisher of the slave trade, to the invention of LCD right here at the University, Hull has it all.

Hull is home to the spectacular Humber Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the UK.

Hull is also the home to the worlds only submarium; The Deep.

Hull is for Freedom; the Freedom festival that happens over the summer every year brings thousands of people together with music, food and fun, promoting the freedom and self expression that Hull encourages.

From cocktails bars to ale bars, Hull has an eclectic collection of social life for all tastes. Princes Avenue hosts a wide range of contemporary public houses and restaurants to wet anyone’s tastebuds.

The museum quarter - consisting of Wilberforce House, the Hull & East Riding Museum, Streetlife and the Arctic Corsair trawler - is simply the best place to start your discovery of historic Hull.

Take something home – Hull has a huge range of shops. Take a look at St Stephens the award winning shopping centre, part of the massive regeneration that is reshaping Hull.
