Conflict management

• Conflict management is the process of limiting the negative aspects of conflict while increasing the positive aspects of conflict. The aim of conflict management is to enhance learning and group outcomes, including effectiveness or performance in organizational setting (Ra him, 2002, p. 208).

Conflict in the mind

• It is happening inside of a being• A same person may hold two or three

opinions and try to come to conclusion he himself. This is a psychological conflict

• The first experience of drinking alcohol : a dilemma friends-family members, health-society, desire -discipline

• The psychological shake between good and bad/ emotions and knowledge

• Finally, this gives a critically distress and discomfort

Two groups• A party is required to engage in an activity that is incongruent with his or her

needs or interests.• A party holds behavioral preferences, the satisfaction of which is incompatible

with another person's implementation of his or her preferences.• A party wants some mutually desirable resource that is in short supply, such

that the wants of all parties involved may not be satisfied fully.• A party possesses attitudes, values, skills, and goals that are salient in

directing his or her behavior but are perceived to be exclusive of the attitudes, values, skills, and goals held by the other(s).

• Two parties have partially exclusive behavioral preferences regarding their joint actions.

• Two parties are interdependent in the performance of functions or activities.(Rahim, 2002, p. 207)

• Conflicts must be reduced or avoided• Then, what is this conflict management?• Conflict management means how to use a

conflict in positive manner• Yes, conflict can be used in positive manner,

especially connected to mind (psychology)

• Yes, we can• Conflicts among human beings• So, strong human relations will reduce

conflicts• To reduce conflicts – develop human relations• Conflicts in society: conflict-group of people-

individual-behavior-way of thinking• Individual to group

• At first, the mind needs a peaceful environment

• The mind controls the behavior of the beings• The behavior of the being leads the society
