Specialist Home Learning Program
PLAYSub-school: Seniors Week: 5 Date: Monday 11th May 2020.
What am I learning? I am learning to create and play a game of air hockey
What is my teacher looking for?
I can find the right equipment from home and play using the correct rules
What to do?Today you will be finding everyday household items around the house and creating your own air hockey game to play against a family member or someone at home. First you will need to find a few things around the house.
1. Two normal sized towels or blankets – these are used for the walls2. Two Tupperware or container lids or plastic bowls- these are used as the object to hit the
puck3. A small disc shaped object- I am using a smaller circle container lid (pringles lid is another
option)- this is the ball or puck in air hockey4. You can use sticky tape to mark goals on the ground however this part isn’t completely
necessary
This best works on a smooth surface- I am using the floorboards at home but you could use a table, tiles on the ground or anything similar.
These objects will be used to create your air hockey game. See pictures below for examples.
How to play?Air hockey is a simple game-
the aim is to hit the puck (circle container lid) through your
opponents goal you can only strike the puck using your chosen object (container or bowl) if the puck goes through the goals you score one point the towels/blankets are used as walls which the puck can bounce off a normal air hockey game is first to 7 points wins if a goal is scored the other player starts with the puck
It is best of 3 games- so first to 7 best of 3.
Watch this below youtube video for an example of what it looks like
