Why do I love my school?Evie, Ash Class: My school is brilliant and each day brings something new and exciting! Lola, Beech Class: I love my school for many reasons but

mainly because it is just a great place to be. You can trust your teachers, be creative, enjoy fun lessons, but most importantly, I know that I will always feel safe here. George & Ruby, Birch Class: I am proud to be a part of Holland Junior School. I love the fact that the school is surrounded by the most beautiful grounds and has the friendliest environment. We have an outside gym, a pond, a running track, a beautiful library and even a historical dig! We are also fortunate enough to have laptops and iPads for the school - these are used for all different types of learning. TJ, Beech Class: Each morning I wake up and look forward to going to school because I am always greeted with an enormous smile from our Headteacher and I know the teachers will also be glad to see me. I look forward to the exciting learning because our teachers are fun and we learn interesting things.Kara, Maple Class: There are so many reasons to love Holland Junior School but the main one I guess is the teachers and adults who work here. They are generous, kind, reliable, fun, caring and really, really smart! Daniel, Maple Class: Our school is always bright and colourful, filled with fabulous work and there’s always something happening! Mika, Chestnut Class: We have visitors that inspire us, such as Zeeks the athlete and clubs to enjoy and help us grow, such as gymnastics.Sid, Chestnut Class: Does your school get rewards for great behaviour? Ours does! Every half term we get a reward. It could be a huge bouncy castle, roller-blading, archery, a virtual reality visit or a snuggly film and popcorn afternoon. Mia, Maple Class: We learn so many different topics and I have absolutely loved learning about outer space. Our teacher actually brought space to us! It inspires me to want to learn more.Lacey & Poppy, Holly Class: I love ‘Forest School’ and being out in the open, around the pond, creating a camp and toasting marshmallows.Jasmine, Beech Class: I love my school because it’s fun, fair, I learn a variety of things and there is so much to do. I love the fact that we are encouraged to challenge ourselves. But mainly I love my school because we are one big team and I know that if I fall…someone will be there for me. Pupils of Holland Junior School

Plastic Challenge (Articles 1 and 2 were included in the June and July editions of Hurst Green News) The third set of suggestions for reducing single-use plastic include:• Carry your own non-plastic cutlery. Plastic disposable cutlery

and straws are among the worst plastic pollution culprits. • Choose milk in returnable glass bottles. Many areas have local

dairies that provides milk in returnable glass bottles rather than plastic or plastic-coated cardboard.

• Use a razor with removable blades. Disposable razors and razor blades are two of the biggest contributors to plastic waste.

• Look around your kitchen and see what plastics you can replace. Use a dish brush with a wooden handle and compostable bristles.

• Avoid wet wipes. These contain plastic fibres so don’t break down like toilet roll, despite often being described as flushable.
