Q1. You were the topper of your stream in Classs 12. How would you summarise your journey

from the beginning of class 12 to the day you got your result?

Class 12 was an unbelievable roller coaster ride. It wasn’t as most of you think it would’ve been.

It was full of ups and downs. I’d say that the average scores I received in some of my tests

encouraged me to do better and led me to becoming the topper and scoring pretty well in

subjects I feared the most.

What’s more important is consistency and a never-give-up attitude. Everything else turns out to

be great once you’ve got this covered.

Q2. How did you incorporate breaks in between study sessions?

I’m a person who needs breaks no matter what. I cannot and do not advise that one sit like a

robot for hours continuously. Breaks are the most integral part of one’s study session as it is the

regular breaks that maintain one’s energy and willingness to study. Personally, I love listening to

music and watching funny videos on YouTube. Whenever I felt like I couldn’t study anymore I’d do one of the two.

Another thing I loved doing is talking to my mom because she is my best friend and my go-to stress buster!

Q3. How did you tackle the evident stress of college applications alongside the process of studying for boards?

I was ardent on going to the National Law University or a top-notch private university, both of which only require

clearing entrance exams. Hence, I’d taken up a 2 year coaching programme in 11th and 12th. I managed to clear the three

main exams, CLAT, SLAT and LSAT on my first attempts and am currently a student of NLU Odisha.

My father was my saviour in managing my forms and doing the needful for these entrance applications. He’s my angel

and I wouldn’t have been able to handle everything without him.

Q4. What was the one exam you actually enjoyed writing? And why?

I absolutely love the subject Legal Studies and hence have chosen a career in the same. I’m currently doing my BA LLB

degree. Legal Studies is an extremely interesting and intriguing subject. It’s something that drew me towards it since day

1. It’s based on practicality rather than one’s roting abilities and hence seems to actually test one’s skills instead of one’s

memory.

Q5. What is one unorthodox advice you would give to the students of class 10 and 12?

As I’ve followed throughout my journey as a student and even now, I’d like my wonderful juniors to follow it as well –

‘Swasth raho, Masth raho”. Always make sure to take breaks, be it spending time with your friends or even watching

F.R.I.E.N.D.S.. Make sure to get some fresh air everyday and eat well. Don’t give up your food for grades because that

never really works! Also, do something you enjoy everyday, even during the board exams.

All the best to everyone! Thanks for featuring me. It’s an honour.

It’s exam time and it is easy to picture a student under complete stress; stress of completing the portion, stress of

submitting the projects that were due about a month back etc. Nonetheless, this article is not about how you can cope

with stress. Instead, it elaborates on what stress is and how it affects our brain. Regardless of which grade you are in,

you should be aware of what happens within you when you are under stress.

So, what is “stress”? Stress is a word used by all of us at least once a week on an

average. But it is undoubtedly more than just saying it with an exasperated sigh. Stress

is a survival mechanism. When danger approaches, it can get you out of trouble. Your

body crashes up the gears and throws all its resources into getting you to move.

According to a research conducted by the University of St Andrews, stress in students

is caused by reasons such as examinations, deadlines, and moving to a new

environment.

Stress can lead to long-term changes in the

brain and can cause serious effects to the

brain. It can lead to mood and anxiety

disorders. Stress may also change the brain structure or shrink the size of the

brain. It can affect areas associated with regulation of emotions, metabolism, and

memory. Stress also impacts your memory. If you’ve ever tried to study or

remember minute or precise details in a stressful event, you are probably aware

that it can be a difficult task.

Parallelly, there is also something called

good stress. It helps an individual perform well in the face of a challenge, it wires

the brain in a positive way, leading to stronger networks and greater resilience.

Now, let’s accentuate towards the status of the brain when a person is relaxed.

To find out more about this, an experiment was conducted in which a group of

adults were asked to participate. They were asked to reach a relaxed state of

mind by using relaxation techniques and to maintain this state without any

techniques. Some changes during relaxation were analysed. Deep relaxation and

meditation ultimately slows down the brain waves, which rejuvenates the brain’s

chemistry and gives rise to a calmer state of mind, even after relaxation ends.

Mental stress can be dated back to the 6500BC. Historians have identified surgical drillings of holes in skulls to treat

mental illnesses caused by stress. Causes of stress vary from time period to time period, an example of this is that the

cause of stress in the 19th century was economic and political turmoil, while on the other hand, the cause of current day

stress is increased pollution and workload.

Therefore, it can be perceived from the study conducted that stress has neither increased nor died down over the

decades, but the reasons for stress have visibly changed with changing time.

To summarise this article, there is a quote by Amit Ray “If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment,

live in the breath”. Do not get bogged down by the stress of accomplishing challenges, but face it head on.

Dear diary,

I know it has been a while since I wrote but that is only because I have had my mid-term examinations going on. Nothing

much has happened though. I have just been studying with occasional breaks where I eat or go down to cycle. I would

play with my friends, but their study schedule doesn’t coincide with mine. My TV time has been reduced to half of what it

used to be, but I must say, it does come with its own set of privileges.

My mother basically does everything for me now. She brings me food to my room, which isn’t generally allowed. And the

best part is, after every exam I come home to one of my favorite dishes. I am no longer forced to play or entertain my

younger sibling, and it has been, well, peaceful. I wish this could continue after the exams come to an end. But that’s just

wishful thinking.

I even get to sleep for a longer time now since my bedtime has been shifted from 11:00 to 10:00. My mother thinks sleep

will help me perform better. I think it doesn’t matter how much I sleep if I don’t finish the portion. However, I am not

going to tell her that.

I have an exam tomorrow and am supposed to be revising right now but the only reason mother allowed me to write is

because I have my last exam tomorrow and it is English. So, I convinced her that I am only practicing for tomorrow.

Honestly, I haven’t been able to concentrate. I am just too excited about what I am going to do after coming home

tomorrow. I can watch TV, play video games, hang out with my friends and I don’t have to study at all! Also, day after we

are going out of station to my grand parent’s place. How can a poor little child like me be expected to do something as

monotonous as study when there is so much waiting to happen? Especially when studying is all that I have been doing for

the last month.

But it is also true that if I don’t study now, I may ruin my last exam and will be so disappointed that I won’t be able to

enjoy my vacation. Hence, I looked up my problem on Google and it suggested that I write down about all the things I

want to do after my exam to get them out of my head. This is the real reason I decided to make an entry in this diary

today. And I think it is working. I still have 15 minutes left before I must turn off the lights and I am going to go over the

rules for Subject Verb Agreement. Wish me luck.

On the 22nd of September 2019, the United States of America witnessed the largest gathering ever for an elected foreign

leader, namely the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi, visiting the U.S.Named “The Howdy Modi”,this event

garnered a lot of attention and was attended by over 50,000 Indian Americans along with American President Donald J.

Trump and sixty other American lawmakers.

The event started off with Mr. Modi proclaiming Mr

Trump as one of the greatest leaders of mankind; as Mr

Trump smiled appreciatively at this gesture, the

American President then took to the stage to address

the expectant crowd. He acclaimed Mr Modi for

making India strong, thriving and sovereign under his

leadership. He further used the opportune moment to

express his gratitude to all the Indian Americans in the

crowd for their various contributions such as in the

field of medicine.

Mr. Trump underscored that if he were reelected then

India would have a ‘true and good friend in the White

House.’

He spoke extensively on border security where he highlighted his commitment to protect the innocent civilians from the

threat of radical Islamic terrorism.

He also expressed his interest in collaborating in space research with India. Speaking further about the defence

relationship between the two countries, he said that the same would be demonstrated by holding the first ever tri-service

military exercise called ‘Tiger Triumph’.

In the field of sports, Mr. Trump assured that the first ever home NBA basketball match would be played in Mumbai in the

month of October. He then ended his speech and welcomed Mr. Modi on stage.

During Mr. Modi’s addressal, the Indian Prime Minister briefed the crowd about the various key achievements that India

was aiming under his leadership. One such example that he illustrated was the implementation of GST, one nation one

tax, which proved to be a huge success in bidding farewell to tax problems. He also emphasized that corruption was also

on the decline under the leadership of his government. He then spoke about the ‘Swachh Bharat’ program where he

reassured the crowd that India would no longer face the issue of open defecation after October 2nd ,2019. Speaking about

the Kashmir issue, he briefed the crowd as to how the withdrawal of Section 370 enabled the people of Jammu and

Kashmir to enjoy the same benefits as the rest of Indian citizens, along with the development of the state. On the front of

terrorism, he assured that a tough stand would be taken against this and further confirmed the speculation that the

President of the U.S.A Mr Trump was with India, in its fight against terrorism. The historic speech ended on a strong note

when Mr Modi extended an invitation to Mr Trump, his family and other Americans to visit his homeland, India.

Title: Mossad

Authors: Michael Bar-Zoharand and Nissim Mishal

Genre: Thriller, Documentary, Spy Non Fiction

Age Group: 14 and above

Mossad is the national intelligence agency of Israel. It is one of the main entities in

the Israeli Intelligence Community, along with Aman and Shin Bet. Mossad is

responsible for intelligence collection, covert operations, and counterterrorism.

This novel served a revelation in almost every page. Much of the inner workings of

this organization are unknown, as is natural for a secret service, yet this work gives us a glimpse at some of their

greatest expeditions.

Co-authored by two leading Israeli writers, Mossad reads as if a fast-paced thriller packed with tales of

espionage. So, for all those James Bond fans out there, here’s our very own James Bondesque non-fiction, which

is right up your alley.

This book deals with such covert operations that one can only believe whether what is being told is the actual

truth or not. This perhaps, adds to the appeal of the book.

What’s more unexpected is that the authors haven’t shied away from the dark patches of Mossad. Expecting

this to be a glorified tale, preaching about the successes of the aforementioned agency, readers will be

pleasantly surprised to find out that the writers have been unbiased in their reflection of Mossad. We learn of

the many corrupt policies, malpractices and failed operations that have occurred in Mossad’s past. Mossad is a

very accessible page-turner but to enjoy it properly and understand the significance of the various operations it

describes; I would suggest the readers sacrifice some time in getting to know the history of Israel and its civil

war.

I would strongly recommend this book to avid MUNers, GK hoarders and it would definitely be a great start for

someone wishing to venture into non-fiction.

When tennis pops up in a conversation, the first player that comes to mind is almost always Roger Federer. To

the ordinary man, he is to tennis what Tendulkar was to cricket or Messi is to football. But what one often fails

to take into consideration is that for every Tendulkar, there was a Lara; for every Messi there is a Ronaldo; and

therefore for every Roger Federer, there has to be a Rafael Nadal.

MOSSAD – A BOOK REVIEW

RAFAEL NADAL: IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN?

Page 7: Hyderabad DIPSCOOP · Hyderabad DIPSCOOP ... from the beginning of class 12 to the day you got your result? ... Id say that the average scores I received in some of my tests encouraged

Rafael Nadal. Roger Federer’s arch nemesis on court. His

best friend off it. A hungry friend, well on his way to

dethroning Federer. Well on his way to a 20th Grand Slam.

Well on his way to becoming the greatest ever.

A school of thought has already labelled him so, ahead of

Federer. “Rafa” is 33, Federer being 38. The Swiss turned

pro eighteen months before the Spaniard did. And yet

Federer is only one Grand Slam ahead of Nadal. The latter

has won his country an Olympic Gold, while the former

has not.

Some might argue that Nadal is not on the top of his game on grass. But Federer is not much better on clay. The

southpaw has brought home two Wimbledon titles in a career eighteen years long. On the flipside, Federer has

finished first only once at Roland Garros, in over twenty-one years. Not a stark difference between the two, but

the man from Mallorca has his nose in front.

Nadal’s body has not always supported him. Injuries have taken a heavy toll both on the physical and mental

aspects of his game. The Spaniard has missed more than eight Grand Slams as a result of a few niggles. His feeble

knee is one of the prominent reasons why he is at his best on clay. A typical clay court being softer than the other

two, it strains his knee to a lesser extent in comparison to the harder courts.

Rafael Nadal is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all times. But only time will tell if he can become the greatest.

But one thing is a certainty, he is definitely not finished. His thirst for immortality is unquenchable.

Man is the pinnacle of evolution — an absolute masterpiece carved by the supreme creator with immense depth and perception. Innovative ideas flow into man’s intricately designed mind, and what makes him different as well as advanced is his grasp of the language. Using this powerful tool, he attained the ability to pass down his knowledge and legacy to his progeny, a feat seldom seen anywhere else. With the invention of language came an acute necessity to store valuable insight. Knowledge gained by hearsay was insufficient, altered and more often than not, inaccessible to everyone. This led to the creation of yet another majestic tool, known to us as literary skills — various forms of writing developed with the due course of time. Different situations could now be described using a variety of writing styles. More importantly, it allowed a man to improve his communication skill and rectify the inherent flaw in language, the weakness that did not permit the storage of knowledge. Tyrants may have ruled the mundane body, but great authors rule the hearts. Tyrants sought for immortality, and authors are made immortal by their works. Their works outlive the wrath and ignorance of any tyrant and persist until the end of time. Powerful writers can turn on the dime, even when the odds are against them, wage war without spilling blood and control the public mindset with a mere stroke of their pen.

Knowing the importance of writing and acknowledging the enormous potential present in our very own school, DPS has recently started the Writer’s Club. This club was made keeping in mind the main objectives of writing and also considering how writing could help students both academically and personally. The club is organized every week on Thursday for an hour.

A REPORT ON WRITER’S CLUB

Page 8: Hyderabad DIPSCOOP · Hyderabad DIPSCOOP ... from the beginning of class 12 to the day you got your result? ... Id say that the average scores I received in some of my tests encouraged

The aim of the club is simple: to cultivate the writer in each one of us through learning, practice and sessions. In every class, the teacher teaches us about different writing styles, formats and methods. One can also bring their writing to the levels where the teacher corrects any mistakes. The students also voice their opinion on the piece of work. This way, one can not only alter their writing but also receive feedback on improving on that. There are tasks which are done in the group itself and discussed later on. Each minute detail is highlighted to improve your writing, even by the smallest margins. The students are also given assignments to be completed by the next class. The facilitator makes sure that the student is always learning and discovering the complex world of writing both inside and outside class. Through this learning process, both the students and the teacher are exposed to different writers and their methods, which ultimately help your writing.

The opportunities present are enormous. Through improvement, you can publish your work on the school website. If done regularly, you can up your level and try to put your work on local or even national newspapers. You can also write articles for your school. There are also other websites where you can publish your work. Before doing that, consulting the teacher and fellow members for help and feedback can improve your work. Writing isn’t meant only for publishing; you can also write yourself. The more you are costumed to writing, the easier and better it gets.

Seasons

A lovely cover of daffodils,

like a cloak over the hills.

Let me dance and let me sing,

let me welcome the beautiful spring.

The Earth is warm, the sun ablaze,

summer always passes in carefree days.

The busy bees that have the chance to pass,

often find me sleeping on the dry, brown grass.

The wind is playing autumn games,

through the street and across the lanes.

It slightly tumbles the leaves,

to make a carpet under the trees.

All birds are gone, everything is white

The gloom can be felt by the whole world wide.

At last, the winter has come,

and the year is almost done.

The last is done, the next is here,

The same as it is every year.

The spring - the fall - the rain and the snow,

this is how it has to go.

Waking up as your favourite cartoon

Viraat Kapoor, IV H

Last Saturday night, my parents went out for a party.

I and my brother were left alone at home. While my brother

Was in his room studying for his weekly test, I enjoyed a

Delicious supper and watched my favourite cartoon show ,

“Horrid Henry” 😁. I watched five episodes back to back .

While I was watching the sixth episode, I dozed off.

In my sleep, I had a dream in which I was Henry. Like we

All know that Henry is lazy and wakes up very late. So, in my

dream I was late to school. I snatched away breakfast from

My brother Peter and troubled my best friend, Ryan on our way

School. I carried toys like yo-yo, gooey slime etc. to school.

While the teachers taught, I had fun playing secretly with

My friend’s and toys. My teachers got to know and I was detained

In the school. I cried loudly, “NO....NO...” . And the next

Moment I saw my mother waking me up and questioning

Me if I had a bad dream .

To my relief, I was not Henry. I was Viraat and it was a

Beautiful sunny Sunday morning. I decided that I won’t ever

Become like Horrid Henry. I want to carry on being a good

And obedient boy like Viraat ( myself) .

Grade IV Dusshera 27/09/19

Festivals seasons helps in bonding with each other. They keep us connected to our roots and also our ethnicity. In the words of Opera Winfrey “The more you praise and celebrate in life the more the more there is in life to celebrate”. Students and staff of class IV, Delhi Public School Hyderabad celebrated Dussehra in school premises on September 27, 2019 with great enthusiasm and energy.

A special assembly was conducted, in which students spoke on the significance of this festival and how it is celebrated in the country. The assembly started with a prayer song. A small speech by the children about the festival when and why it is celebrated was very informative.

Colourful attires worn by the children were eye-catching. The festivities were filled with great joy and enthusiasm. The children were dressed up in their best, like Ram, Lakshman, Sita, Ravan. They showcased the

rituals and traditions through an enactment – “Ram Leela”. This indeed was breath taking and gave a view of how the festival is celebrated in North India. Dussehra celebration in the western part of India was very well showcased by the foot tapping Garba dance.

The Bengali presentation highlighted the Nine distinct forms of Devi Durga focusing primarily on the concept of “Shakti” and its manifestations. Children mesmerized the audience by singing a Bengali song. The fitting finale of the event came in the form of a classical and folk element by the dance troupe – Bathukamma, which very will depicted the celebration in the Southern part of India. The special assembly gave a glimpse of Dussehra celebration in most of the places of India. It was a sojourn which had the right ingredients of fun, festivities and tradition.

Sandhya ma’am, Head Mistress senior wing, shared her views on the assembly and wished everyone a happy and prosperous Dussehra.

performed by the Students of grade 10 which left the

audience awestruck. The students of grade 10 also presented a western dance which was

applauded by all. The 12th graders also performed an energy filled dance on old and new

songs.

Furthermore, the hilarious yet heart-warming skit drawing a parallel between the joys

and struggles of teachers and students gave everyone food for thought. A special dance

performance wherein the students bowed at the teachers’ feet left everyone teary eyed

and emotional. This was followed by a soulful musical performance by the students of

10th and 12th which mesmerised everyone. The programme ended with a poem to

convey love and gratefulness to the teachers. The Interact Club of the school, adhering to

its annual tradition, presented hand designed bookmarks to all the teachers with

meaningful remarks written on it.

Overall it was a splendid event giving students a chance to do

something in return to the teachers for all their efforts. They

wanted to make them feel special even though they knew that

nothing could ever match the hard work and love shown by the “Gurus”.

‘Ban on Single Use Plastic’ CLASS – XI

Plastic pollution is very real. Single use plastics such as bottles, bags, straws, caps etc. are used around the world

extensively. These bio non degradable things are small but with large impact. It is alarming to note that plastic waste is

piling up chocking our oceans, rivers and lakes. The heaps of refuse of plastics can prove disastrous to the mankind’s

survival. This is also detrimental to plants, animals and aquatic life. Recently Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra

Modi announced the beginning of a campaign to shun single use plastic items.

The students of Delhi Public School, Hyderabad in an endeavour to promote

the Prime Minister’s campaign and create awareness about plastic free

world for a healthy environment took up various activities. They took a

pledge to avoid the single use plastic in all forms. Various objects like plastic

cups, straws, bottles, bags etc. were displayed urging the students to

prohibit the use of these items and instead use eco-friendly alternatives

like jute bags etc. They also

suggested to use cups made

of clay than plastic. A couple

of students delivered speech

to clearly enunciate the

harmful effects of the use of these items. In their speech they said that the

single use plastic items not only lead to endangering the marine life but also

risks the human food chain as the harmful chemicals enter the system. It

was a clarion call to impose ban on these harmful products to avoid future

catastrophe. Some students participated in the discussion on the need to ban single use plastic to stop our mother earth

from ailing.

In keeping with the saying, ‘’Better late than never’’ and ‘’if not now when”, the students took up a great initiative as

responsible custodians with a pledge to completely wipe out the single use plastic products from the system and to switch

over to greener alternatives to make the world a better place to live in.

These initiatives taken by the students helped everyone realise that the need of the hour is to ensure that we don’t leave

a scorched planet to the future generation and that for the human beings to sustain, earth has to live. The students realised

the true significance of the words of Margret Thatcher, ”No generation has a freehold on this Earth. All we have is a life

tenancy- With a full repairing lease.”

New Initiative: ‘NO PLASTIC CHALLENGE’ – Each student can challenge two of his friends who upon accepting the same

would do away with the usage of at least one product that is made up of single use plastic.

WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS

Page 24: Hyderabad DIPSCOOP · Hyderabad DIPSCOOP ... from the beginning of class 12 to the day you got your result? ... Id say that the average scores I received in some of my tests encouraged

The session began with a discussion on the various skill sets that are

required in an individual to be successful and the skills that the employers

look for when hiring.

The students were then introduced to the key to Success or 3A Model as

appended below.

Awareness → Action → Acquire

The concept was made easier to understand with several examples, ranging

from Nokia to Yahoo. Through the case studies the students learnt that

each step in this model was as important as the other. They learnt that

even the most successful market leaders need to update and improve their technologies every day according to the newest

trends, to sustain the cut- throat competition.

They laid emphasis on the need to procure analytical skills, people skills,

intuitive skills etc, and the fact that these skills are as important as

obtaining a degree in current times was reinforced. Mr. Jayanth then made

the students get acquainted with the new age careers and drew a

comparison between the conventional careers and the new age careers

with the help of few examples.

Mr. Jain then went on to talk about how the Shiv Nadar University bridges

the gap between what is taught in Universities and the Companies’

expectations. The students were also informed about it being the first

University in India to have a multi-disciplinary curriculum that provided students with skill sets and knowledge on topics

beyond what a regular, mainstream degree would provide.

A testimonial video on the University was shown, where the audience saw

students from various streams talk about how this multi-disciplinary

curriculum benefitted them. It was also highlighted that the one of the

most unique features of the University was that it was the only one in India

to offer research to students who were doing their Under Graduation. The

admission process was then discussed, which included the eligibility

criteria, scholarship requirements and brackets etc.

The students left the room with brochures of the University feeling

extremely empowered with the knowledge and clarity they had gained

from the session.

DESIGN THINKING AND THINKING DESIGN CLASS: XI DATE: 13.09.2019 Delhi Public School, Hyderabad conducted an interactive session for the students of grade 11 on 13th September 2019. The session was conducted by an Ex-Dipsite, G.S. Nitesh Narayana who is currently a fourth-year student of Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing. The session mainly focused on the relevance of design thinking, which he described as a cognitive, strategic and practical process of taking decisions and making conclusions about different things. The students were also made aware of the difference between thinking design and design thinking through a couple of examples and debates. The session completely altered the way of thinking of students and helped them realize a whole new perspective of looking at life. Nitesh very enthusiastically and energetically explained the idea behind the distinctiveness between thinking design and design thinking. He conducted different activities in which the student proactively participated and learned several new things. Among the various activities, the first activity was especially intriguing wherein the students had to sketch an abstract idea. It was rather fascinating to see the diversity among the sketches made by the students. Few sketched about gender discrimination, few about their hobbies whereas others sketched about the different things that worry students today. While all these drawings gave an insight into the different mindsets and emotions of the students, it was also observed that these were somehow interrelated to each other. The next activity required the students to write a few lines from the perspective of any one object in the room. This helped them understand the various aspects of the object they chose, they observed things that would have otherwise been neglected. This activity, so simple and easy, yet so impactful helped the students explore their surroundings and get a deeper insight into it. All through this session, the students debated, understood, explored and opened many doors which could not otherwise be opened in the ordinary race of life. Thinking design and Design thinking is a wonderful initiative which helps today's children grow, prosper and love the process while doing it. Overall the session proved to be very fruitful and interesting.

A SEMINAR BY GAYATRI KHANNA

DATE: 24.09.2019

It is a thought well-articulated ‘Thinking is the hardest work anyone can do’. Connecting this thought back to work, a one-day seminar was conducted by Delhi Public School, Hyderabad on 24th September, 2019 for the entire English Department. The workshop was conducted by the Oxford University Press, India along with Ms. Gayatri Khanna- a Senior Content Developer and an ELT expert associated with CBSE, as the resource person.

The facilitator, Ms. Gayatri Khanna, dealt with the key aspects of teaching English as a Foreign Language in the Indian context and emphasized on development of skills in grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing among the students. Also, she discussed the expected changes in the CBSE Curriculum, modules and policies in near future.

The Seminar began with an interview hosted by Mrs. Sharmila Lahiri (HOD, English), a senior faculty of the Institution where various questions on behalf of the entire teaching fraternity of the school were asked to the Guest to enlighten the path of teaching learning in a smooth way. The few questions addressed during the session were:

Page 27: Hyderabad DIPSCOOP · Hyderabad DIPSCOOP ... from the beginning of class 12 to the day you got your result? ... Id say that the average scores I received in some of my tests encouraged

• What should be the qualities required for a teacher for developing content for the younger kids?

• How can the class be managed well so that effective learning can happen within the stipulated time?

• How can the pattern of extrapolative questions be addressed in the class when the syllabus is vast?

The queries were replied most enthusiastically by the guest facilitator where she mentioned about the basic pedagogical rules to be followed and no new concept to be introduced in the worksheets. It can be subdivided according to the need of the children and their level of understanding. The hurdles of LSRW can be removed by giving proper inputs in order to retrieve the outputs from the children.

Next, she took the charge of the session to make the teachers aware of the ten different changes which the CBSE board planned to implement in the upcoming syllabus from the next session onwards. She spoke about the learning outcome at the ‘Elementary’ stage where the students shall be assessed only in the form of MCQ to prepare them for skill training according to the need. She cited few practical examples of diagnostic, feedback and feed forward as a part of next year’s plan. Ms. Gayatri Khanna emphasized that Art and Decoration (3D) to be integrated, the various life skills to be incorporated, and Programme for International student Assessment (PISA) type of questions will be introduced in future. Next she spoke about the marking scheme of grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 where in the literature section tone, mood, setting, appreciation, theme, title, character sketch to be introduced. Peer corrections to be done at times to bring about a change along with the general pattern of corrections. She even drew sketches to help the group understand what are the basic elements to stress upon while writing a story and an article.

It indeed was a valuable and interactive programme where teachers who participated got enlightened through insightful inputs on the latest curriculum and future course of teaching.

CLASS: Pre-Primary September 2019

Nothing can fascinate one better than the enticing world of nature. Nature is an

open-ended laboratory which offers great learning experiences essential for life.

Children learn through exploration and enhance their learning abilities through

imagination. Giving these tiny tots the real-life experiences will not just allow them

to bloom and blossom but also makes them put on their thinking hats for better

understanding thereby laying a strong foundation earlier on in their lives. In order to

keep this thought intact and encourage the children

to embrace the beauty of nature, an intriguing theme “Seasons” was formulated for Pre-

Primary kids as theme of the month.

A weeklong celebration was planned as part of the theme, where the kids were exposed

to myriad of activities belonging to different genres. The celebration even included a

COLLAGE MAKING

CLASS: I DATE: 17.09.2019

A very interesting Inter-House Collage Making Contest was conducted for the students based on the nation-

wide launched program of ‘Paryatan Parv’.

The Paryatan Parv program showcases the cultural diversity of our country and reinforces the principle of

‘Tourism for All’ with an objective of drawing focus on the benefits of tourism.

The essence of this program came alive beautifully through the wonderful collages created by the students.

The little ones were at their creative best as they used a variety of pictures, in a variety of shapes and sizes,

based on the Indian culture, cuisine, monuments, festivals, costumes, rituals etc. Various aspects of our

culturally rich country were depicted beautifully in the form of the several colourful collages created during

the contest.

CLASS: II Date: 17.09.2019

A travel brochure is an informative paper that introduces new places to

attract the tourists. They provide travellers with a lot of information about

the destination. With a unique aspect of bringing out the intellectual and

creative management skills of the children, an Inter-House Travel Brochure

Making Competition was organized for the students based on the nation-

wide launched program of ‘Paryatan Parv’.

To develop a healthy competition among the learners and to cultivate

their interest in craft work, they were asked to select any one state and

gather various pictures and related information like tourist places, hotels,

food and shopping sights of that state. Other materials that they used

included white and colourful papers, stickers, drawings etc.

The involvement of students is not only limited to participation in the

competition, but also extends to planning and execution of the minute details

of the travel destination. It provided an opportunity to the students to think of

ways to creatively advertise a place that offers so much to do. At the end,

students were excited to present their creative, colourful and informative

brochures which says “Plan your trip soon!”
