KOPILI POWER PROJECT
1
Built on river Kopili in the North Cachar Hills of Assam.
Was the first venture of NEEPCO in 1976.
Beneficiary states are Assam , Meghalaya ,Mizoram,Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura.
Head available is 326.50m.
Total Generation Capacity is 275 MW.
2
Dam and dyke systems are used.
One reservoir is on Kopili and one on Umrong(tributary). Khandong station uses Kopili water to generate 50 MW(2X25 MW) power.
Kopili station uses the tail water to generate 100 MW(2x50) power. Extended by setting up Unit III & Unit IV of 50 MW capacity each in 1997. Total installed capacity rose to 250 MW.
