Sunday After Epiphany January 12, 2020 Resurrectional Apolytikion in the Plagal First Tone Let us worship the Word who is unoriginate * with the Father and the Spirit, and from a Virgin was born * for our salvation, O believers, and let us sing His praise. * For in His goodness He was pleased * to ascend the Cross in the flesh, and to undergo death, * and to raise up those who had died, * by His glorious Resurrection. Apolytikion for Theophany Afterfeast in the First Tone At your baptism in the Jordan, O Lord, the worship of the Trinity was made manifest for the Father's voice bore you witness by calling you his beloved Son, and the Spirit in the form of a dove confirmed the truth of the Father's word. O Christ our God, you have appeared to us and enlightened the world. Glory to you. For Saint Nektarios the Wonderworker O faithful, let us honor Nektarios, divine servant of Christ, offspring of Sillvria, and guardian of Aegina, who in these latter years was manifested as the true friend of virtue. All manner of healing wells forth for those who in piety cry out, Glory to Christ who glorified you; glory to Him who through you wrought miracles; glory to Him who through you works healing for all!9426 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL ∙ (727) 868-5911 www.stgeorgenpr.org ∙ [email protected] facebook.com/stgeorgenpr ∙ twitter and instagram RevAJPav Hymns After the Small Entrance St. George Greek Orthodox Church Ieros Naos Agiou Gewrgiou

For Saint Andrew As first of the Apostles to be called, o Andrew, brother of him who was foremost, beseech the Master of all to grant the world peace and our souls great mercy. For Saint George Liberator of captives, defender of the poor, physician of the sick and a champion of kings. O Trophy Bearer, Great Martyr George, intercede with Christ our God, that our souls be saved. Seasonal Kontakion in the Fourth Tone In the running waters of the Jordan River, on this day the Lord of all cri-eth to John: Be not afraid and hesitate not to baptize Me, for I am come to save Adam, the first-formed man.

Epistle Reading St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 4:7-13 BRETHREN, grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men." (in saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Gospel Reading Matthew 4:12-17 At that time, when Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth he went and dwelt in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, to-ward the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned." From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." “Take heed, then, often to come together to give thanks to God, and show forth His praise. For when ye assemble frequently in the same

place, the powers of Satan are destroyed, and the destruction at which he aims is prevented by the unity of your faith.”

    St. Ignatius of Antioch
