The Honorable Jacob Zuma President of South Africa Private Bag XI000 Cape Town 8000 South Africa

Dear President Zuma:

On behalf of the 25 million strong Sikh Nation, I write today to express our condolences to you, the people of South Africa, and the Mandela family on the passing of former President Nelson Mandela. President Mandela showed great courage and dedication, spending over 25 years in prison simply for fighting for freedom and against injustice and tyranny. He is to be admired for his courageous fight and for his strong efforts to liberate and unify the people of South Africa.

Similarly, the Sikh Nation has been fighting to attain its freedom and overcome repression, tyranny, and injustice against Sikhs by the Indian regime since 1947. In 1987, the Sikh Nation declared its independence, naming its new country Khalistan. Yet Khalistan remains under Indian occupation and more than a quarter of a million Sikhs have been murdered by the regime since 1984. Sikhs, therefore, have a special appreciation of the struggles that President Mandela and his allies such as you have been through to overcome injustice and tyranny.

Once again, our condolences to your country and to President Mandela's family. We respectfully ask that you convey this message to President Mandela's family on our behalf. Thank you.

New Book: U.S. Congress on Sikh Struggle for Khalistan Two-Volume Set Reprints Statements from Congressional Record

Supporting Sikh Freedom WASHINGTON, D.C, December 6, 2013 - A new two-volume set of books has recently been published that reprints statements from members of the U.S. Congress in the Congressional Record exposing Indian oppression of the Sikhs and other minorities, and supporting Sikh freedom in a sovereign, independent Khalistan. The book contains statements published from 1986 forward.

"This is a very exciting development," said Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President of the Council of Khalistan, which leads the Sikh struggle to liberate Khalistan. "India is desperately trying to alter Sikh history and remove Sikhism from India, just as it did with Buddhism and Jainism. This two-volume set of statements from the Congressional Record exposes those efforts and helps to preserve an accurate history," Dr. Aulakh said. "It shows the record of oppression of the Sikhs by the Indian government and shows the importance of a free Khalistan." Khalistan declared its independence from India on October 7, 1987.

Council of Khalistan Press Release 'RECOGNIZE YE ALL THE HUMAN RACE AS ONE'

Thousands of Sikhs Attend Mann Conference for Khalistan Mann Is Only Sikh Leader in Punjab Openly Asking for Khalistan

WASHINGTON, D.C, December 6, 2013- Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President of the Council of Khalistan, called on Sikhs to support only those leaders who support Khalistan openly. "At this time, the only Sikh leader in Punjab openly calling for Khalistan is Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann," he noted. Sardar Mann is a former Member of Parliament and leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). "I was pleased to know that Sardar Mann held a conference a Naushera Panuan in the Tarn Taran district," he said. Over 100,000 Sikhs attended and slogans of "Khalistan Zindabad" were raised in Punjabi and English. Their presence let the Indian government know that in spite of all the repression, the Sikh Nation still wants freedom for Khalistan. Last Saturday outside Washington, DC, Dr. Paramjit Singh Ajrawat held a seminar on Khalistan. Dr. Aulakh was invited to speak. He raised slogans of Khalistan Zindabad." Supporters of the Akali Dal (Mann) also attended and spoke.

"I appeal to the Sikh Nation to support these efforts wholeheartedly," said Dr. Aulakh. The Council of Khalistan leads the Sikh struggle to liberate Khalistan. "I pray to the Guru that Sardar Mann may be blessed with strength and courage to accomplish the mission of a free and independent Khalistan" Dr. Aulakh said. Guru Gobind Singh blessed the Sikhs with sovereign rule for the Khalsa Panth ("In grieb Sikhin ko deon Patshahi.") At the time of Indian independence, Sikhs were supposed to receive their own country, but the weak Sikh leadership took their share with India on the empty promises of "the glow of freedom" in Punjab. Khalistan declared its independence from India on October 7, 1987.

"Guru's blessing must be achieved by the Khalsa Panth and the time is not far off when we will have a free Khalistan," said Dr. Aulakh. India is on the verge of disintegration like its old friends the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, as well as Austria-Hungary. Scotland and Wales are presently moving towards independence. "Only a free Khalistan will end the injustice against our Sikh brothers and sisters," said Dr. Aulakh. "As long as Sikhs live under Indian rule, repression, tyranny, and atrocities against Sikhs will continue. In a sovereign, independent Khalistan, we will finally be free of the repression," Dr. Aulakh said. "In a free Khalistan, Sikhs can finally live in freedom, prosperity, and dignity. We must free Khalistan and reclaim the birthright of our people. All people have the right to be free." Three former Akal Takht Jathedars have supported Khalistan.

The tyranny and violence against the Sikhs have been going on for many years. A report issued by the Movement Against State Repression (MASR) quotes the Punjab Civil Magistracy as writing "if we add up the figures of the last few years the number of innocent persons killed would run into lakhs [hundreds of thousands.]" According to Sardar Mann, the Indian government has murdered over a million Sikhs since 1982. Sardar Inderjit Singh Jaijee, author of The Politics of Genocide, and Bibi Baljit Kaur of the Movement Against State Repression (MASR) told Dr. Aulakh that if it were not for the efforts of the Council of Khalistan, that number might be ten times as high. 52,000 Sikhs continue to be held as political prisoners in India. The regime has picked up over 50,000 Sikh youths from villages, tortured them, killed them, then cremated them, declaring their bodies "unidentified." Recently, the regime arrested Bhai Gurbaksh Singh after he embarked on a hunger strike to free Sikh political prisoners held beyond the time of their sentences. Since his arrest, at least two other Sikhs have taken up his fast. "This should show the Indian regime and the world that the Sikh Nation will not be intimidated," said Dr. Aulakh.

As former U.S. Congressman Edolphus Towns (D-NY) has said, "The mere fact that [Sikhs] have the right to choose their oppressors does not mean that they live in a democracy." As Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Cal.) said, "for the people in Kashmir and Punjab and Jammu, India might as well be Nazi Germany". Listen to the words of Narinder Singh, a spokesman for the Golden Temple, on August 11, 1997: "The Indian government all the times they boast that they're democratic they're secular, but they have nothing to do with a democracy, they have nothing to do with a secularism. They try to crush Sikhs just to please the majority." Narinder Singh is right.

India has also killed more than 300,000 Christians in Nagaland, over 100,000 Muslims in Kashmir, and tens of thousands of Tamils, Assamese, Bodos, Manipuris, and others. The Indian Supreme Court called the Indian government's murders of Sikhs "worse than a genocide." We must continue to expose the genocide against the Sikhs and other minorities and continue to make the case for Sikh freedom. "As Professor Darshan Singh said, 'If a Sikh is not a Khalistani, he is not a Sikh'," Dr. Aulakh noted. "The Sikh Nation must reclaim our birthright."

Sikh Nation Demands Immediate Release of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh

Right to Protest Is Essential to Democracy WASHINGTON, D.C, December 6, 2013 - Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President of the Council of Khalistan, today demanded the release of Sardar Gurbaksh Singh, who has been on a hunger strike to demand the release of Sikh political prisoners held beyond the expiration of their sentences. Gubaksh Singh was forcibly picked up by 40-50 policemen, many of them visibly drunk, who invaded Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali dressed as Gursikhs. He is being held in Ropar jail, charged with attempted suicide and illegal assembly. Bhai Gurbaskh Singh pledged to continue his hunger strike in jail.

"Since when is it illegal to assemble and to protest in a democracy?," asked Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President of the Council of Khalistan, which leads the Sikh struggle for independence. On October 7, 1987, the Sikh Nation declared the independence of its homeland, Punjab, Khalistan. No Sikh representative has ever signed the Indian constitution. The Council of Khalistan is the government pro tempore of Khalistan.

A coalition of Sikh leaders, including Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann (Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar), Bhai Akal Singh Cheema (Akali Dal Panch Pardhani), Baba Sukhchain Singh Dharampura and Sardar Hari Singh Randhawa of the Sant Samaj, leaders of Dal Khalsa, and others endorsed Bhai Gurbaksh Singh's fast, which began on November 14.

Two Sikh activists have taken up Bhai Gurbaksh Singh's hunger strike. They are Bhai Dhamandeep Singh of Ludhiana and Bibi Manjit Kaur of the Bhai Fauja Singh Trust. We salute them. "The undertaking of the effort by Bhai Dhamandeep Singh and Bibi Manjit Kaur shows the world that whenever India tries to suppress the aspirations of the Sikh Nation, Sikhs come back stronger than ever,' said Dr. Aulakh. "Shame on the Punjab police and the Akali government of Punjab and shame on those Sikhs who voted for them," he said. "Are you proud that you voted for this? How can these political prisoners still be held when the Akalis have ruled Punjab for so long?," he said. In his 1997 election campaign, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal pledged to get all Sikh political prisoners released. "We're still waiting," Dr. Aulakh said. Instead, Mr. Badal made a governing coalition with the fundamentalist Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"Only a free Khalistan will end this kind of injustice," said Dr. Aulakh. "When Khalistan is free, those who have murdered and oppressed the Sikhs will be brought to justice and Sikhs will not be held as political prisoners," he said. "As long as Sikhs live under Indian rule, insults and atrocities such as holding Sikh political prisoners and others beyond their sentences and the abduction of Sikh activists like Bhai Gurbaksh Singh will continue. I call on all Sikhs, Sikh leaders, and Sikh organizations, inside Punjab, Khalistan, and outside, to focus their efforts on the liberation of Khalistan. We must launch a Shantmai Morcha to liberate Khalistan now."

The tyranny and violence against the Sikhs have been going on for many years. After 1984, it was the police who were committing genocide against the Sikh Nation. India has also killed more than 300,000 Christians in Nagaland, over 100,000 Muslims in Kashmir, and tens of thousands of Tamils, Assamese, Bodos, Manipuris, and others. The Indian Supreme Court called the Indian government's murders of Sikhs "worse than a genocide."

"We need leadership in Punjab that is committed freeing Khalistan, said Dr. Aulakh. "As Professor Darshan Singh said, 'If a Sikh is not a Khalistani, he is not a Sikh'," Dr. Aulakh noted. "The Sikh Nation must reclaim our birthright."

New Book: U.S. Congress on Sikh Struggle for Khalistan Two-Volume Set Reprints Statements From Congressional Record

Supporting Sikh Freedom WASHINGTON, D.C, December 6, 2013 - A new two-volume set of books entitled U.S. Congress on the Sikh Struggle for Khalistan has recently been published that reprints statements from members of the U.S. Congress in the Congressional Record exposing Indian oppression of the Sikhs and other minorities, and supporting Sikh freedom in a sovereign, independent Khalistan. The books contain statements published from 1984 forward. The first volume contains statements from 1984 through 1998. The second volume contains statements from 1999 through 2007. :

"Only a free Khalistan will end this kind of injustice," said Dr. Aulakh. "When Khalistan is free, those who have murdered and oppressed the Sikhs will be brought to justice," he said. "As long as Sikhs live under Indian rule, repression, tyranny, and atrocities like the ones exposed in these books will continue. By exposing the repressive record of the Indian government we can move closer to freedom for the Sikh Nation," Dr. Aulakh said. "This book is a must for every Sikh household. I call on all Sikhs to get a copy of this book. Have one for your family. Get at least ten copies for your Gurdwara, as well as for your public library, college and university libraries, and for your public officials. This will do a lot to raise awareness of the need for a free Khalistan."

The tyranny and violence against the Sikhs have been going on for many years. India has also killed more than 300,000 Christians in Nagaland, over 100,000 Muslims in Kashmir, and tens of thousands of Tamils, Assamese, Bodos, Manipuris, and others. The Indian Supreme Court called the Indian government's murders of Sikhs "worse than a genocide." This book shows the genocide against the Sikhs and other minorities and sets out the case for Sikh freedom. NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE KHALSA PANTH

Let 2014 Bring Freedom to the Sikh Nation May Guru Bless the Khalsa Panth in 2014

With Freedom, Happiness, Honor, Dignity, and Prosperity Liberating Khalistan Must Be Focus of New Year

Dear Khalsa Ji:

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, WAHEGURU JI Kl FATEH!

Please let me take this opportunity to wish a Happy New Year to you and your family and the Khalsa Panth. May 2014 be your best year yet. I wish you an abundance of health, joy, and prosperity.

Freedom is a basic right of all peoples and nations. The flame of freedom continues to burn brightly in the heart of the Sikh Nation. No force can suppress it. Guru Gobind Singh blessed the Khalsa Panth, saying "In grieb Sikhin ko deon Patshahi." ("I bless the Sikh nation with sovereignty") The Sikh Nation must dedicate this year to working hard to achieve that goal. Self-determination is the right of all peoples and nations and self-determination is the essence of democracy.

James Madison, the primary author of the U.S. Constitution and the fourth President of the United States, warned of the "tyranny of the majority." That is why the U.S. Constitution has strong protections for minority and individual rights and a republican, decentralized governmental structure. India, the self-proclaimed "world's largest democracy," is proof that Madison was absolutely right. Without effective protection for individual rights and those of communities and states, the majority runs roughshod over the rights, interests, and lives of the minorities. India routinely does this to Sikhs, Christians, Muslims, and other minorities. It is not a true democracy.

The time to free Khalistan is now. I urge you to support only leaders who are publicly supporting a free and independent Khalistan. Please take this chance to liberate Khalistan. Recently, former Member of Parliament Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann held a conference in Naushera Panuan in the Tarn Taran district. Over 100,000 Sikhs attended. They raised slogans of Khalistan Zindabad in Punjabi and English. Sardar Mann is on record saying, "The only solution to the Punjab and Sikh problem is an independent Khalistan. "The establishment of Khalistan is of the utmost importance. To keep peace in South Asia, a buffer state of Khalistan is essential." He is right. In the Washington, DC area recently, I was a speaker, along with several supporters of the Akali Dal (Mann), at a pro-Khalistan conference held by Dr. Paramjit Singh Ajrawat. Slogans of "Khalistan Zindabad" were raised. Both of these events show that the Sikh Nation will not be intimidated and we will continue to work to liberate Khalistan from Indian repression. Khalistan declared its independence from India on October 7, 1987. Sikhs must be allowed to have a free and fair plebiscite on the issue of Khalistan. In a democracy, you cannot continue to rule against the wishes of the people.

Neither the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) nor the Congress Party can be acceptable to any true Sikh. Badal maintains a political alliance with the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the political arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), which openly wants to destroy the Sikh religion and all other non-Hindu religions. But the Congress Party is no better. It was the party that is guilty of attacking the Golden Temple in June 1984, in which India murdered over 20,000 Sikhs including Sant Bhindranwale, General Shabeg Singh, Bhai Amrik Singh, over 100 Sikh youth ages 8 to 13, and others. Both of those parties want to destroy the Sikh religion and other minorities, including Christians, Muslims, and others. They are not worthy of your support. Support only those who are working for Khalistan.

Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale said that if India attacked the Golden Temple, it would lay the foundation for Khalistan. He was right. After the June 1984 attack, the movement for Khalistan was energized. The Indian troops burned the Sikh library, destroyed Hukam Namas and other historical documents, and took many other items which are the property of the Khalsa Panth. To this day, those items have not been returned.

*A set of two books entitled U.S. Congress on the Sikh Struggle for Khalistan has recently been published. These volumes contain all the statements by Members of the United States Congress on Khalistan and the repression of the Sikhs. It is an essential resource to counteract India's efforts to change the history of the Sikh Nation and wipe Sikhism off the face of the Earth. These crucial volumes can be purchased for $100 (plus $10 for shipping and handling) from the International Sikh Organization, 730 24th St., #310, Washington, DC 20037 or by telephone at (202) 337-1904. Please specify the address to which the books should be sent. These volumes should be in every Gurdwara, in every public library, in every college and university library. Please purchase copies to donate to them.

Since November 14, Gurbaksh Singh has been on a hunger strike to achieve the freedom of political prisoners who have been detained after the expiration of their sentences. A group of 40-50 police dressed as Gursikhs, some of them obviously drunk, came to pick up Gurbaksh Singh. He is now in Ropar jail, charged with attempted suicide and illegal assembly. Since when is it illegal in a democracy to assemble? Since his abduction, two more Sikhs have taken up his fast. This is further evidence of the commitment of the Sikh Nation to secure freedom and end the repression of our people.

Sikhs have suffered too much already under the yoke of Indian persecution since independence, especially over the past 30 years. We have seen the attack on the Golden Temple, over 250,000 Sikhs murdered and over 52,000 held as political prisoners, the murder of the Akal Takht Jathedar, more than 50,000 Sikh youth tortured, murdered, then declared unidentified and secretly cremated, their bodies never returned to their families. Their families continue to suffer. It has been said that "where there is no vision, the people perish." Let us find the vision to throw off this repression. With that vision, the Sikh Nation will flourish; without it, we will perish and India's effort to eradicate Sikhism will succeed. The sooner we can liberate Khalistan, the better.

Sikhs are NOT Hindus. The Sikh religion was established by Guru Nanak. It has ten Gurus. The last guru, Guru gobind Singh, gave Guruship permanently to the Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs don't believe in the caste system; Hindus do. The caste system is essential to Hinduism. Hindus don't believe in equality. Sikhs believe all people are equal, including gender equality. Hindus believe women are inferior. Thus, Sikhs can't be Hindus. At age 5, Guru Nanak refused to wear the Hindu ceremonial thread, the Jannau. Sikhism is the youngest religion in the world and its fifth largest. Hindus claim that Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism are all branches of Hinduism. None of them is. I am surprised they didn't claim Christianity is a branch of Hinduism too. If Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and others are part of Hinduism, why are the Hindus killing and persecuting them? Guru Nanak and Buddha were from Hindu families. Jesus was from a Jewish family. Does that make Christianity a part of Judaism?

I appeal to Dalit Sikhs to join the Sikhs who are fighting for Khalistan and take a leading role. You are the sons of Guru Gobind Singh ("Rangrete Guru Ke Bete.") Other Sikhs are followers of Guru Gobind Singh. It is time for all the sons of the Guru to be involved in freeing the Sikh Nation.

Let us dedicate our energy this year to achieving the establishment of Khalistan. Any organization that sincerely supports Khalistan deserves the support of the Sikh Nation. None has worked harder for that cause than this office and this office needs your support. When Khalistan is free, Sikhs can resolve all issues in a way that benefits the Khalsa Panth. Remember the words of former Jathedar of the Akal Takht Professor Darshan Singh: "If a Sikh is not a Khalistani, he is not a Sikh." There is no place for Sikhs in supposedly secular, supposedly democratic India. In a free Khalistan, minorities will have equal rights and all will be respected. Khalistan is the only way that Sikhs will be able to live in freedom, peace, prosperity, and dignity. Let that be the mission of 2014.

India is not a single country. It is a polyglot of many nations thrown together by the British colonialists for their administrative convenience. It has 18 official languages. History shows that such countries do not long endure. Austria-Hungary, as well as India's allies the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia are some examples. The breakup of India is inevitable. We pray that it will be peaceful like the breakup of Czechoslovakia and not violent like that of Yugoslavia.

Let us work to make certain that 2014 is the Sikh Nation's most blessed year by making sure it is the year that we shake ourselves loose from the yoke of Indian oppression and liberate our homeland, Khalistan, so that all Sikhs may live lives of prosperity, freedom, and dignity. Now it is up to us. Do not waste this opportunity. !

May Guru bless the Khalsa Panth.

Sincerely,

)r. Gurmit Singh Aulakh President Council of Khalistan
