ABOUT THE SEMINAR

By the end of March 2017, the Government of India operationalized the provisions of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 (IBC) relating to corporate insolvency. Most institutions part of the new eco system became functional and filing of insolvency applications started. The enactment of the IBC has finally paved way for introduction of the much-needed modern framework to deal with insolvency of corporate entities. IBC introduces significant legal and structural changes in the insolvency framework.The code will also significantly improve India's "ease of doing business" ranking and over the long term, it will enhance creditor rights, boost investor confidence and facilitate deepening of India's corporate bond market.Achromic Point in association with BRICS CCI is holding a conference on “Insolvency and Bankruptcy code 2016”.The conference would be highly intensive and interactive session with various stakeholders with the relevant details of the code in the context of building ecosystem for the Insolvency and Bankruptcy code 2016.

Shri Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya born on 15th March, 1950, is the son of late Shri Sarojendu Mukherjee who was a leading practitioner especially

Constitutional and in Service law in the High Court of Patna. He passed the B.Sc. examination in 1971 from Magadh University and obtained his LL. B Degree in 1979 from the University of Patna. Enrolled as an Advocate on 18th May 1979 and practised at the Patna and Ranchi Benches of the High Court of Patna in Constitutional, Service, Civil and Criminal matters. He was designated as Senior Advocate in February, 1993.He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court of Patna on 8th November, 1994. He was transferred on 15th November 2000 as permanent judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on its creation, where he served as the Acting Chief Justice for about a year and three months.
