A Private University in Milan embraces SAP on Cloud strategy
A private university in Italy (Milan) that provides
undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education, in
addition to a range of double degree programs, in the
fields of economics, management, finance, law and public
administrations. The university is considered to be among
the top 10 best business schools in Europe according to
the 2013 Financial Time's European Business School
Rankings.
Client
Need
On June 2015 the customer signed a CS4SAP contract
to deploy and migrate its SAP ERP and CRM systems
on IBM Cloud. IBM won against competition due to the
best Cloud Managed solutionfor SAP and for a final
marketable price that met customer expectations.
On June 2016 customer decided to extent SAP Cloud
service to upgrade CRM environment from CRM 2006 to
CRM7 and asked us, due to the success of the previous
project, to be in charge also for the migration.
Solution
The SAP on Cloud solution is based on CMS4SAP service
and regards a 7x24 Full Managed Service (PaaS) up to
SAP Basis Managed Services for ECC and CRM customer
SAP Landscapes with standard SLA (99,5%). IBM provided
local support for customer on boarding (landscapes and
VPN/MPLS network activation) and SAP environments
migration on IBM Cloud primary data centre in Germany
(Ehningen).
The final solution provides also Disaster Recovery on IBM
Cloud secondary site in France (Montpellier).
Furthermore, the customer signed a new project to upgrade
CRM SAP environment based on SAP Sandbox
environment in Cloud.

The School of Management of the largest technical
university in Italy, with about 42,000 students that offers
undergraduate, graduate and higher education courses in
engineering, architecture and design. Founded in 1863, it is
the oldest university in Milan with two main campuses in
Milan city, where the majority of the research and teaching
activity are located.
The university was ranked the best for Engineering and
among the top big universities in Italy in the CENSIS Italian
University rankings for 2014-2015. According to the QS
World University Rankings, it is the 24th best technical
university in the world, ranking 7th for Design, 24th for
Engineering and Technology, 14th for Civil and Structural

Need
In June 2016 the customer released a formal request to
evaluate a new Information System which replaces the
existing ERP based on different vertical application with the
objective to adopt a market leader solution, improve
automation, flexibility and reduce management costs.

project to configure Enterprise Management functionalities
