February 2016 ICAS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS AND ASSESSMENTS FOR SCHOOLS 2016 Dear Parent/Caregiver The following International Competitions and Assessments for Schools exams (ICAS), take place on the following days/dates, as stated below: Subject Sitting Date Cost Digital Technologies Tuesday 17 May $9.00 Science Tuesday 31 May $9.00 Writing Monday 13 June $20.00 Spelling Wednesday 15 June $11.00 English Tuesday 2 August $9.00 Mathematics Tuesday 16 August $9.00 ICAS provides an opportunity for students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external testing situation. All participating students receive a certificate depending on results. No formal teaching is provided for the sitting of these examinations: it is up to the individual student to access the ICAS website to acquire past papers. (http://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/past_papers) Please also note that ICAS exam marks contribute to mark summaries for top academic awards. Therefore, it is in students’ interests to sit these examinations. If you wish your child to participate in any of the exams, please forward the appropriate entry fee per examination to the Front Office no later than Friday 15 April, last day of Term 1. Digital Technologies will close on the 5 th April 2016… earlier than the other tests. Close off date is well before the sitting dates so to avoid any confusion, late entries will not be accepted, without exception. Thanking you.
