Philanthropy

• National Philanthropy: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

• Chapter Philanthropy Sexual Violence Awareness

Ovarian Cancer Ribbon Fundraiser• Sold teal ribbons in University

Center for three days.

• Teal is the nationally recognized ribbon color for awareness and support of Ovarian Cancer.

• Half of the money raised was donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

• Greek Move-In

o Meet the incoming students and their families, and we were able to show them how helpful and friendly the Greek community at Lehigh can be.

• Hazing Prevention Weeko Between September 22nd-26th

we distributed lollipops and pamphlets from a table at the University Center.

o The pamphlet Truth/myth section to make

sure students on campus can really understand the large range of hazards associated with hazing.

Included an anonymous hazing hotline number which was newly introduced to our school this year.

Take Back The Night

• On October 14, 2009, we stood at lookout point on the hill ready to walk down to Lower Centennials in complete silence to support victims of sexual violence.

• With sexual violence

awareness as our new philanthropy this year, this was a very special event.

Hispanic Heritage Month Charity Soccer Tournament

• On October 25, 2009, we sponsored a charity soccer tournament in honor of Hispanic Heritage month.

• Participants: Sigma Phi Epsilon, Kappa Alpha Psi, Global Union, and many more.

• Earned $275 and donated to a non-profit organization called Global Visionaries.

we helped put on the first interactive education program recognizing National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

Meet the Greeks • On September 10, 2010,

Lambda Theta Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Lambda Sigma Upsilon hosted Lehigh’s second annual Meet the Greeks in the UC front lawn

• Each organization displayed paraphernalia and information about our respective groups, and provided a pizza dinner in front of the University Center

Tattoo Workshop• On October 1, 2009, we

sponsored a workshop with a brother of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc. to bring Lehigh students information on the history of tattoos.

• Enjoyed partnering with a brother from an organization which has historically been very close to the sisters of LTA.

Interracial Dating Discussion

• On January 31, 2010, Lambda Theta Alpha, the African Caribbean Culture Club, and the Participation, Academics, and Campus Life club put together an informative workshop and discussion at the UMOJA House on the hot topic of interracial dating.

Schools for Schools: Lehigh Chapter

• We established a strong partnership with the organization by supporting their events– Displace Me: LU Version– Invisible Children Documentary

• Long-term investment culminated in a co-sponsorship of a charity dinner for Haiti & Uganda– Raised $1,260.76

• We are part of the Pennsylvania Area One, which is run by alumni, and includes many other chapters in the Pennsylvania and Delaware area.

• We meet on a monthly basis, and also attend undergraduate conferences on issues concerning young women.

• Our board is an incredibly useful resource for fundraising and programming ideas, in addition to being a strong academic support system.

Academics• Chapter Academic Advisor: Nathalie Martin• Chapter Academic Responsibilities:

o Ensuring that Chapter Members and orientees are maintaining, or raising their cumulative GPA above a 2.5

o Coordinating one educational program per semester for the campus community and two for orientees

o Offering study group sessions for the chapter on a weekly basis

o Providing resources for chapter members and orientees seeking academic assistance

o Submitting all necessary paperwork, including transcripts, to the Area Representative five days prior to the monthly Area meetings
