Why Are We HereI imagine everyone in this room is
wondering why are we here Itrsquos a
question that garners spontaneous laughter when proposed to crowds but one that we all take very seriously
as individuals The larger scope of the question--the meaning of life--will
always be a mystery but I believe we can actually get close to pinpointing why Idea Project can pull us all
together to spend an entire evening elbow to elbow with a room full of
strangers Time to re-adjust your thinking
How to Make Your EveningFor the next several hours you are
going to experience a deluge of ideas
from every direction Clear your mind in preparation Be open to a mental experience that is sure to provoke
prod and ding you into a new existence of being
Talk to people The Idea Project Tribe is yours to exploit Literally walk up to anyone and Say Hi and watch
what happens Ask about their wishes and goals Transport yourself back to
your grade school days when you didnrsquot need anything more than enthusiasm to start a new friendship
The Shape of Things to Come I hope you enjoy yourself here
tonight but ultimately its up to you to
give into your curiosity and accept the journey you are about to embark upon This evening you are surrounded by

How to Make Your EveningFor the next several hours you are
going to experience a deluge of ideas
from every direction Clear your mind in preparation Be open to a mental experience that is sure to provoke
prod and ding you into a new existence of being

what happens Ask about their wishes and goals Transport yourself back to
your grade school days when you didnrsquot need anything more than enthusiasm to start a new friendship
The Shape of Things to Come I hope you enjoy yourself here
tonight but ultimately its up to you to
give into your curiosity and accept the journey you are about to embark upon This evening you are surrounded by
thinkers and doers in celebration to this yearrsquos theme Lives Shaped by

Welcome

2006 -2011Half Decade of Thought Liberation
LAIP as Idea Project was once called came
into existence as a liberation of ideas from the stage into action
Ever since that first gathering as the founding
TEDx event LAIP has moved to cultivate activity with thought thoughtful
activations of community Known for demanding
programming Idea Project is unafraid of questioning our core motivation to
create It embraces disruption altered states
and surprise endings After five years as a project of
one incredibly inspirational Cooper Bates and the generosity of hundreds of
supporters and volunteers Idea Project begins its
transition into a full fledged entity perhaps one that
does not exist (wink wink) but definitely one that aspires to create an eclectic
community that nurtures a vibrant habitat for energizing
ideasIn fact that has become
the vision of the new
organization It is hoped it will pinpoint a clearer
destination while generating tools to more effectively raise ideas into flourishing
networks businesses and new models for education
and medicine Idea Project intends to practice the art of thinking on onersquos feet
through the prism of a collective soul
Idea Project generates lasting friendships and
deep connections Beyond inspiration
there is instigation Though it may have a negative
connotation often we hear back that
the inspiration received via an Idea Project event
gave someone the strength to fight for
an idea to stir the pot to disrupt to
instigate change
And it is that drive to bring energized ideas to any one
who hungers for them which is the essence of
Idea Project

change the world for the better one idea invention or comedy routine at
a time--was humbling as well as enlightening I felt so lucky and grateful to be included in this group
that when it was time to give my speech it was all I could do not to
