Performance and Manners of Horses: Horses well man-nered. No biting or kicking. Horses should not be penal-ized for having their ears back. Originality, Variety, Attractiveness of Patterns and Crowd Appeal: Teams must perform a minimum of four (4) different maneuvers. Were original and varied patterns used? Were the maneuvers presented to the best ad-vantage of the viewing audience? General Impression: Horses clean and in healthy working condition. There will be no penalty for teams of mixed col-ors. Equipment clean, neat, in good repair and uniform. Uniforms clean, neat in good repair and uniform. Saddles, bits and boots excluded as to type and style. But will be judged for cleanliness.

Rodeo Drill & Freestyle

Riders: A minimum of 8 riders is required for Rodeo Drill. Any number allowed for Freestyle. Time: Six (6) minutes - Rodeo Drill, 12 minutes - Free Style, from entry of the first rider, to the exit of the last rider. There is no minimum time limit. Number of Teams: An organization may enter more than one team provided that at least fifty percent of the riders have NOT performed in another drill during the same event. Explanation: The competition will be performed to the music of choice. Emphasis will be placed on drill, NOT on matching of horses or leads. Execution of Drill: Spacing, alignment, timing and coordi-nation. Was the spacing consistent? Were the lines straight and circles evenly round? Was the timing good, with no rider racing or stopping to make his or her position? Were the connections between maneuvers good? Were there any collisions? Performance and Manners of Horses: Were the horses well mannered? No bucking or kicking? Horses should not be penalized for having their ears back. As long as at least one horse continues to move, it will be considered continu-ing forward motion. Did horses break gait? Originality, Variety, and Attractiveness of Patterns: Were original and varied patterns used throughout the drill, or was the same pattern repeated several times? Were the patterns presented to the best advantage of the viewing audience? Spectacularity and Crowd Appeal: Was the drill orga-nized in a manner to please an audience? Did the drill flow from one maneuver to another, without a lot of positioning maneuvers? Were most of the maneuvers centered in front of the viewing audience? Crowd appeal can include the manner in which the flags, if any, are presented, uniforms, tack, equitation and also the suitability of drill music to ma-neuvers.

Degree of Difficulty: a team that performs a more difficult drill should get more credit than a team that performs relatively easy maneuvers. Rate the degree of difficulty form 1-100, with 100 being the most diffi-cult. General Impression: Horses clean and in healthy working condition. No penalty for teams of mixed col-ors. Is equipment clean, neat, in good repair, uniform, safe and properly fitting? Uniforms clean, neat, in good repair, and matching. Saddles, bits and boots ex-cluded as to type and style, but will be judged for cleanliness.

Teams of 4 Riders: Each team will be allowed as many sets of Teams of Four as they choose.

Time & Arena: Four (4) minutes maximum. There is no minimum time. Full Arena.

Explanation: The Team of Fours drill competi-tion will be performed to music of choice. It will be the Judges' discretion as to emphasis of the drill, music, theme and any costumes used.

Execution of Drill, Performance and Manners of Horses, Variety and Attractiveness of Pat-terns, Spectacularity and Crowd Appeal, De-gree of Difficulty, General Impression: Same as Rodeo Drill and Freestyle.

Or, all 3 events $200

Any team with more than one drill group for any event will

pay an additional $75 per event entered by the additional

drill group[s] or $200 for all 3 events. All additional entries

for Parade, Rodeo Drill and/or Free Style must be made

with separate entry forms.

Jack Pot Team of 4, $25 x number of teams

Teams may enter any number of teams of 4 drill groups.

Each team of 4 entry must be accompanied by the $25 entry

fee. All Team of 4 entries may be placed on one entry form.

The competition takes place in downtown

Nampa and at the Idaho Center rodeo

arena, July 14, 2012.

Parade: Downtown Nampa, 11:00am. All

teams wishing to vie for High point

awards or a chance to perform at the

rodeo must enter. Otherwise, the

parade event may be entered

separately.

Rodeo Drill: Idaho Center, 2:30pm All

teams wishing to vie for High point

awards or a chance to perform at the

rodeo must enter. Otherwise, the

Rodeo Drill event may be entered

separately.

Freestyle: Idaho Center following

Rodeo Drill. All teams wishing to vie for

High point awards must enter.

Otherwise the Freestyle may be

entered separately.

Teams of Four: Idaho Center following

Freestyle. All 4’s entry fees will be

placed in a “Jackpot” to be divided

between the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams.

Rodeo Performances: Five competing

teams, placing 1st-5th, will earn a

performance time the following week

during the pre-rodeo activities at the

Snake River Stampede, Tues-Fri nights

and the Sat matinee, July 17 - 21.

Placement will be based on the team’s

Rodeo Drill program during the

competition and their participation in

the rodeo parade.

Your team is invited to join us in our 2nd Annual

State Drill Competition, continuing our third year

making history with the SRS and IDTA!

The Snake River Stampede has been THE rodeo

event in Idaho since 1911 and is one of the TOP 10

rodeos, among over 800, in the PRCA! 2012 is our

3rd opportunity to combine Drill Competition with

the SRS rodeo and it is shaping up to be HUGE!

Combined objectives of the SRS and IDTA are to

increase quality of rodeo drill performances, in-

crease participation in the SRS parade, provide

opportunity for teams to perform at Idaho’s #1

annual rodeo, as well as increase public appreciation

of the sport of rodeo drill teams from in, and

around, the State of Idaho and beyond. This a great

opportunity to provide our sport greater visibility,

interest, and support of the public!

Event Descriptions

Parade

Riders: A minimum of 8 is required.

No mark time maneuvers are allowed. Teams must maintain a forward motion, as a unit, at all times, In the rare event that the parade would stop, teams must re-

main stationary.

Execution of Drill: Spacing, timing, alignment, and coordi-nation. Was the spacing consistent? Were lines straight and circles round? Was the pace even, with no riders hav-ing to jog to make their position?

Number of Teams: An organization may enter more than one Parade team provided that at least fifty percent of the riders have NOT performed in another parade drill. The spacing between your group and the entry ahead of your group at which you were placed at the begin-ning of the parade by parade officials must be main-tained at all times through out the parade. Deductions will occur if a team “holds up” the parade momentum or has an excessively large gap in front of them at any

time.

Competition Overview Prizes: SRS will provide trophies and prize

money for teams placing 1st, 2nd & 3rd

High Point. The judged scores of Parade,

Rodeo Drill and Freestyle for each team will

be combined for the overall High Point

Awards.
