Message from the International Advisory Committee Chairs

On behalf of the IWAT2006 International Advisory Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Antennas Technologies (IWAT). The success of the first workshop in Singapore last March, which was attended by over 130 leading professionals from around the world, highlighted the contemporary importance of the topic and its strong interest among industry and university researchers.

The venue for the 2006 workshop, which will focus on Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials, will be White Plains, New York—a stone’s throw from New York City—with the IBM Watson Laboratories, and several other industries including Interdigital Communications and MiniCircuits, as the sponsors. The TPC, led by Jennifer Bernhard and Koichi Ito, has put together an exciting program with more than 20 invited presentations by recognized leaders from around the world, covering a wide variety of topics including Novel materials in antenna design (metamaterials, periodic assemblies, negative media and related nanomaterials applications); UWB antennas and measurements; Antennas in wireless sensor systems; mm-wave antennas and RF packaging; and, Embedded mobile/portable antennas, to name a few.

We cordially invite you to join us in this exciting Workshop on Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials and look forward to seeing you at White Plains 6-8 March 2006.

Message from the Technical Program Committee Chairs

On behalf of the IWAT2006 Technical Program Committee, we are most delighted to welcome you to the 2nd IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (IWAT) with the focused theme on "Small Antennas and Novel Metamaterials". The Workshop will be held on March 6-8, 2006 at Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains, New York under the auspices of IEEE APS, IEEE MTT-S, IEEE VTS, IBM Research, InterDigital Communications and MiniCircuits.

The objective of the Workshop is to provide an international forum for the exchange of information on the progress of research and development in innovative antenna technology, particularly the miniaturization of antennas and the broad-/multiple-band antennas as well as in the applications of advanced materials and artificial materials to antenna design. The Workshop covers the topics including small antennas, antennas and array, measurements, innovative technology, innovative periodic structure, EM modeling, and applications. The antenna design related to emerging wireless communications and radar systems will also be highlighted. We are planning to have several lead papers and invited papers that will be arranged in a single oral session throughout the Workshop. Besides the oral sessions, we are planning three poster sessions with ample discussion time. Short courses are also planned to encourage wider discussions by expert researchers of these fields.

We look forward to welcoming you to White Plains, New York, March 6-8, 2006, for what promises to be a most interesting, thought-provoking, and important Workshop
