IELTS and EAP: The Pathways to Academic and Career Success
IELTS and EAP are very popular courses at SEC. IELTS stands for International English Lan-
guage Testing Systems and EAP means English for Academic Purposes. The students from these
programs are able to attain their dreams of attending world famous institutions through our excel-
lent pathway programs and work in careers they love.
Students who have taken these programs are extremely happy with their results. One of our former
students Franziska Heimlich says, "Today I received my online results from the IELTS exam two
weeks ago and just wanted to let you know. Luckily, I ended up with a score of 6.5 on writ-
ing. The rest of the test was better: 7.0 speaking,
8.0 listening, 8.5 reading and an overall score of
7.5. I'm pretty happy with this result. Thank you
again so much for your help! Without your amaz-
ing classes I would not have had a chance to
achieve this score! Thank you!!" IELTS and EAP
are very successful programs. The reason for the
success of these programs is that we have the best
and more qualified instructors in the industry. Our
instructors have years of experience helping stu-
dents to achieve academic success and many of
them are trained and certified examiners. Our in-
structors all have university degrees, they are certi-
fied by TESL Canada and they have at least five
years of experience working with international students from all over the world. Our instructors
create classes that are engaging, fun and interesting. The major focus points of IETLS/EAP are
advanced reading, advanced listening, advanced speaking, writing about charts and essays and
advanced grammar. Students who aim for success in any advanced English classes and would love
to learn how to write essays, will be delighted to finally learn these skills in our classes. Whether
students plan on attending a college or university or plan to simply learn the most advanced Eng-
lish courses our schools offer, these programs are for you. These classes are challenging, engaging
and rewarding. If you are interested in learning more about IELTS or EAP, please talk to your ad-
visor or sit in on a trial lesson!
Being a student at UCCBT was one of the best moments in my career; I took the Busi-
ness Administration Diploma. I acquired the proper skills to be prepared to face any
obstacle within the business world along the eight courses provided by the school. In
each course I learnt the key skills for every area within the Business Administration,
teachers were friendly and qualified and always able to help me out with any question or
doubt. In addition, they helped me enhancing my strengths, working on my resume,
helping me getting over my weaknesses, etc. Also, the staff here is great, very friendly
and always able to help you. After all these months here I can say I’m happy with the
decision I made of coming here to study and increase my knowledge in the business
area, I totally recommend UCCBT to everyone, it’s a nice college with teachers and
staff prepared to help you with any problem. Highly recommended.

SEC Activities: Fall in Vancouver
Jon has been a teacher with SEC for 5 years already, but not that many
students know that Jon is also actively involved in the theatre as a pro-
ducer and actor for the last 2 years. Recently SEC staff members and
students had a chance to see Jon on stage in adaptation of classic “12
angry jurors”. Playing one of the central characters, Jon is confident that
acting not only supports his personal ambitions but also gives a great
boost to his teaching responsibilities.
Being comfortable in front of the audience, being able to be engaging and
interesting is something that Jon learned in theater and now use to keep
students’ attention on learning ESL. Having experience in both teaching
and theatre, Jon creates truly unique studying experience.

The fall is in Vancouver and rainy weather is
back, but less sun doesn’t mean less fun at SEC.
Having international students coming every
week, SEC is always ready to provide exciting
and engaging activities for them. As usually, we
had traditional SEC Night Out at the Irish Pub.
It was a unique chance for our students, teach-
ers and advisors to bond together and relax after
the long week. UCCBT and SEC students had
another chance to know each other during won-
derful Food Festival in September. Participant brought a lot of food from their native countries to
share. Halloween proved to be the highlight of the fall once again with most of the students and teach-
ers preparing fantastic and complex costumes for our annual costume contest. It was very hard to pick
the winners, because, frankly speaking we did not expect such response from students, who took the
contest will possible seriousness. It was extremely pleasant for all of us to see how students worked
hard to bring this wonderful holiday to
life. For most of the students it was the
very first Halloween and it especially
touching to see energy and excitement in
their eyes. SEC and UCCBT had a lot of
fun and laughs during another traditional
school event—Pumpkin Carving. Students had a great chance to show their creativity and carv-
ing skills. Having more than 2 dozen pumpkins on display, judges had a great time picking the
ultimate winner. Fall took over the city and it’s not as fun outside, but inside SEC there always
something to do every day!
Eduardo is UCCBT’s BA student graduating next month. Dreaming of
working in game design industry, Eduardo can boast an impressive re-
sume with the background at gaming companies back inhis native Brazil.
Eduardo’s passion for games resulted in his collaboration with his peers
to create a new board game where the player is taken to the world of Bol-
lywood and has to go through all obstacles to build a successful career.
Right now the game is still at the development stage and soon the team
will be ready to start the crowd funding campaign.
SEC team would like to wish Eduardo luck with all his beginnings!!!
