Fountain East Security Patrol
Our evening security patrol is a volunteer opportunity foryou to help keep our park safe and secure; however, it isevery resident’s responsibility to be aware of suspiciousactivity and/or people in the park. If you feel somethingis not right, if you see someone on a bicycle or walking inthe park who does not belong, you should contact thePOLICE immediately.
With so many of our residents gone for the summer, wemust remember that it is the responsibility of each of usto secure our homes. As residents, we should also beaware of what may be happening at our absent neighbor’shome....Remember...your vigilance keeps all of us safe andsecure.
If you would like to participate in our evening security
patrol, please contact: Bob Clark (#66 602-499-0800).
FOUNTAIN EAST RESIDENTS’ASSOCIATION
GREETINGS FROM SUNNY ARIZONA
First, we want everyone to know that we are pleased
with the SECOND PAINTING of the Fountain at
the entrance to our park. The blue just wasn’t to
our liking, and Cleo was happy to oblige and paint it
again with a desert tan color. Thanks Cleo!
At a recent meeting between residents and Bingham
Fano, park issues were discussed. We were told
“they are working on them.” At this point, the gates
remain the same as last month with the exit gate
open. There is nothing definite as to the installation
of the cameras. There are still people in the park
who do not belong here. The pool continues to leak.
We will certainly keep you posted of any happenings,
improvements, and maintenance issues concerning
our park.
Carole Burrows, FE Association President

FOUNTAIN EAST LADIES’ CLUB
Summer greeting from sunny and very warm Arizona!
Hopefully, you are having a wonderful summer,
enjoying family and friends in your hometown,
perhaps doing a bit of traveling.
I just wanted to touch bases with you all about our
upcoming projects...the raffle baskets. Thanks to
Rosie Zentner, I was able to go with her to raid some
of the things on hand at the Methodist Church...in
their huge storage barn. We now have 5 baskets on
hand and a Christmas wreath to decorate. And
thanks to Rosie and Dan for allowing our items to be
stored in Dan’s workshop.
You will recall the themes chosen for our baskets and
the chairs are as follows:
A Taste of Italy-Joan ReadChocoholic’s Downfall-Helen GuenetteCoffee Break Time-Patty MaxsonPamper Yourself-Margret AtwoodWinetaster’s Delight-Connie Rhinesmith
Plus our Christmas Basket which will be raffled at
the craft faire in December.
Now is the time to be thinking about what items you
can find to donate to these baskets to make them as
desirable as possible. A suggestion list was handed
out at the April meeting. To refresh your memory,
to help you put on your thinking cap, here were some
ideas that were proposed for the various themes:
A TASTE OF ITALY
Italian Cookbook*Spaghetti and/or other pastaSaucesBread sticksHard salamiItalian wineGift card to an Italian restaurantParmesan cheeseSpicesBiscottiOlive oil (maybe from the Olive Mill?)
Amaretti Cannoli shells
CHOCOHOLIC’S DOWNFALL
Anything chocolate...candies, chocolatecovered fruits, cookiesChocolate wineChocolate-flavored coffeeCupsHot chocolateChocolate chip cookie mixBrownie mixChocolate pudding or mousse
COFFEE BREAK TIME
Gourmet Organic coffee*Coffee mugs* (two collector mugs donated)Coffee liqueurElectric coffee mug warmerGift card to coffee place (Starbuck’s, HumanBean, etc)Jelly/jamBiscottiCoffee-theme kitchen towels*Starbuck’s bottled drinksFrench Press*

Word has been received about the
passing of Laverne Hebner (#224).
Wine glass charmsCocktail napkins
The CHRISTMAS BASKET will be our first rafflebasket, and that will take place at the craft faireDecember 1. The idea on the table is to beautifullydecorate a wreath (we have the plain one to do), lie itflat on the table then put a nicely-filled basket of goodiesin the middle. We can use perishables in this basket. Some ideas for that basket are:
Nice calendarChampagneChampagne glassesRestaurant gift certificateMini poinsettia or Christmas treeChristmas socksCookiesBreadsBrenda’s Fudge. Toffee*OJ for mimosasBloody Mary MixWine glass charmsChristmas music CD*Santa soap dispenser*Christmas Dinnerware*Christmas napkins, place mats, tableclothChristmas-theme blanket throw
Any item that has an asterisk behind it has already
been donated. Remember, these are only
suggestions. Be creative in your thinking, look around
and see what you can find to put in any of our
baskets. Hit up anyone you can think of for a
donation. Our overall value of each basket should
total no less than $50. Keep track of the value of
your donated items so can give that information to
the appropriate chairman. If you get something for
free, we still need that value to add to the basket’s
total.
If you have ideas or suggestions, please share them
with me (Margret) so I can then pass them on. And
please remember that it is not the chairman’s duty to
provide all the items for her basket. This is a club
effort. Let’s make this a fun, creative and profitable
project!!!
Margret Atwood, Ladies’ Club President

Over 60 residents and guests turned out in their patriotic colors to celebrate the4th of July. The tables, decorated by Alice Spearman, carried out the red, whiteand blue holiday theme. While waiting for the meal service, everyone enjoyedvisiting and nibbling on the relish trays on each table. Hamburgers, brats, potatosalad and baked beans were the stars on the menu. The meal ended with agigantic

Our many thanks to the hard-working crew who made this event successful: (below) Aleta Nybakke, Co-chairmanAlice Spearman, Kay Hedges, Hamburger Cook Jerry Gemeinhardt, Co-Chairman and Main Cook Joanne Rebilas, and Judy Gemeinhardt, not pictured, Marcie Carroll.
Following the meal, a program about the Revolutionary War and the history of some of our national symbols waspresented by Margret Atwood with the assistance of Jan Wilhite as the American Eagle, Dan Zentner as PaulRevere, Ken Atwood as Uncle Sam and Kenny Wilhite as one of the Boston Tea Party patriots.

July 17
It was back to the ‘50's on July 11 as resident Out to Lunchers gathered at Nana Dee’s Diner (formerly the 5 &Diner). Hamburgers, milk shakes, triple decker BLT’s and more filled the plates. There were twenty there to enjoythe retro setting. Pictures of Elvis, movie posters and jukebox music to choose from if you wanted. Judging fromthe noise level of the conversations, everyone was really enjoying themselves!
Thank you Judy andJerry Gemeinhardt form a k i n g t h earrangements.

THE MONSOONS
Early July saw the only monsoon to hit Fountain
East that month although there were many
storms in other areas of the valley.
Some homes suffered damage. The top of a
palm tree broke off in the high winds and fell
through the carport roof of the neighbor’s
house (left). Other than the roof sheeting, the
damage was small.
Another home (below) suffered more damage
as the roof of its patio was not only ripped off
but tossed over the top to the other side.
Some flagpoles were dislodged, window awnings
bent, but all in all the park held up well.

Out of the park, the Fountain East Summer Reunion took place on July 11 at the Grand Casino Hotel in
Hinckley, Minnesota. This was the 17th year for residents, past and present, to meet, eat and visit. Thank
you Cliff Wadle for all you did in coordinating this very fun time! And thank you Bruce Dynes and Judy
Paxton for sharing the pictures.
Those who attended were: Cliff & Joan
Wadle, Glen & Barb Bemis, Larry & Karen
Matheny. Matt and Judy Jacobs, Jean &
