1.0 Introduction

National Highway 33 (NH 33) starts from the junction of NH 2 and NH 31 at Barhi and ends in thejunction of NH 6 at Baharagora in EastSinghbhum district in Jharkhand. The total length of NH 33 is352 km.

The Ranchi- Hazaribagh is key road connecting the coal belt areas of Jharkhand to the NationalHighway No.2 which is a major part of the Golden Quadrilateral linking the metro cities of Delhi andCalcutta

National Highway No.33 is being built on Design, Built, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT)Tollbasis under NHDP Phase III Project. The present project corridor Barhi- Hazaribagh Section, is a partof NH-33.

The project mainly consists of converting the existing road in to a four lane highway by constructingand maintaining of Barhi- Hazaribagh Section of NH-33. Total length of the road is 41.314. The workincludes

~,,1) Construction of RoadWorks in rigid as well as flexible pavements,

2) Construction of Major bridges, Minor bridges, culverts and all other cross drainage works.

3) Construction of Toll Plaza.

4) Maintenance of existing road until completion of construction.

5) Maintenance of the road for the entire concession period of 24 years.

6) Handing over of the project to NHAI at the end of Concessionperiod.

2.0 Programme and Progress

2.1 Milestones

2.1.1 Project Milestone-IProject Milestone-I shall occur on the date falling on the 202nd (Two Hundred and Second) day Dated30 th August 2012 from the Appointed Date (the "Project Milestone-I").

Achieved notification awaited.

Prior to the occurrence of Project Milestone-I, the Concessionaireshall have commenced constructionof the Project Highway and expended not less than 10% (ten per cent) of the total capital cost setforth in the Financial Package.

2.1.2 Project Milestone-IIProject Milestone-II shall occur on the date falling on the 410th (Four hundred and tenth) day Datedzs" March 2013 from the Appointed Date (the "Project Milestone-II"). t

Prior to the occurrence of Project Milestone-II, the Concessionaire shall have commencedconstruction of all bridges and expended not less than 35% (thirty five per cent) of the total capitalcost set forth in the Financial Package.

2.1.3 Project Milestone-III

Project Milestone-III shall occur on the date falling on the 618th (Six hundred and eighteenth) dayDated zo" October 2013 from the Appointed Date (the "Project Milestone-III").

Prior to the occurrence of Project Milestone-III, the Concessionaire shall have commencedconstruction of all Project Facilities and expended not less than 70% (Seventy per cent) of the totalcapital cost set forth in the Financial Package.

4.0 Maintenance

4.1 Existing Two lane Road:

Repair of Potholes had been undertaken at Nos of location throughout the project corridor.

4.2 Existing Bridges:

5.0 Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Accident

5.1 Health

No matters arising

5.2 Safety -: ~-j

Two nos. of Safety Officers along with support staffs are deployed at Site to take care of safetyaspects and Traffic Management. In addition, one more Safety Officer has been specially appointed atShiwaney Bridge to look after the safety issuesduring the constructions.

5.2.1 Safety during construction stage.

Road Signs & Delineators, on Project corridor have been installed. Hazard Marker Sign at BridgeEntrance has been installed.

5.3 Security

The project road comes under areas affected by extremist (Naxallte) activity; We have deployedarmed police persons at camp site as per direction of local administration through NHAI.

5.4 Accident Report

Accident report attached as Annexure - 6

6.0 Constraint

• Land acquisition should be done fast by NHAI.• Environment Clearanceto be expedited by NHAI.• Forest Clearance is still the biggest bottleneck.
