EDITORIALE Anno dispari, anno in cui ritorna l’evento più importante al mondo nel settore dell’illuminazione, Euroluce. Per la prima volta nella sua storia, OLEV parteciperà come espositore, con una serie di innovazioni illuminotecniche focalizzate sul benessere. Tra le principali novità, oltre ad un’ampia scelta di finiture, anche materiali all’avanguardia come i pannelli con microforatura fonoassorbente, o il lichene scandinavo. Il benessere dell’individuo sarà il nostro focus principale, il nostro grande obiettivo come brand produttore di corpi illuminanti di design. Per questa “prima” avremo con noi un art director d’eccezione, vincitore di 4 Compassi d’Oro: Marc Sadler. La collezione firmata da Sadler verrà presentata durante l’evento, dal 9 al 14 Aprile, e sposerà la filosofia creativa OLEV: una tecnologia al servizio dell’Uomo, che genera una luce dinamica e non statica, capace di aumentare il comfort delle persone in ogni momento e migliorare l’estetica di un ambiente.Questo perché l’innovazione non è mai autocelebrativa. Diventa rilevante quando è messa al servizio delle persone. Le tecnologie fonoassorbenti e le nuove tipologie di lampade che presenteremo durante le giornate al Salone sono state ideate precisamente per questo scopo. Si preannuncia una primavera in cui tecnologia, design e attenzione al benessere troveranno il punto d’incontro definitivo.

EDITORIALLike every odd-numbered year, this year marks the comeback of the most important event for lighting professionals, Euroluce. For the first time in its history, OLEV will participate as an exhibitor, with a series of lighting innovations focused on well-being.Among the latest news, it’s worth mentioning the wide range of finishes, the ground-breaking use of materials such as sound-absorbing panels or the Scandinavian lichen. The human well-being will be our main focus, our primary objective as a manufacturer brand that creates designer lighting. Together with us on this “first” will be an exceptional art director, winner of 4 Compasso d’Oro Awards, Marc Sadler. The collection signed by Marc Sadler, which will be presented during the Exhibition from April 9 to 14, is the perfect epitome of OLEV’s creative philosophy - technology in the service of Man, generating dynamic light, capable of increasing people’s comfort at any time as well as enhancing the aesthetics of every environment.All this because innovation is never just for its own sake. It becomes a useful instrument when it’s used for the people. The sound-absorbing technologies and the new types of lamps that we will introduce throughout the International Lighting Exhibition in Milan were created precisely to this end. This promises to be a season in which technology, design and care for the well-being will find their ultimate meeting point.

S LUCE RIGENERATIVA: ECCO COME PROGETTARE L’ILLUMINAZIONE PER IL BENESSERE PSICOFISICOLa Dott.ssa Rita Berto e il Dott. Giuseppe Barbiero, entrambi coinvolti insieme a OLEV nel progetto Biosphera, spiegano come si progetta l’illuminazione che favorisce il benessere delle persone.

Noi esseri umani siamo molto sensibili alle caratteristiche dell’ambiente fisico, ed è proprio a partire da quelle caratteristiche che cominciano i ragionamenti (più o meno consapevoli) che orientano il nostro comportamento.La luce è una caratteristica del contesto che può alterare la percezione del colore degli elementi presenti al suo interno, e i colori possono influenzare i nostri comportamenti.

RITA BERTO. Psicologa, dottore di ricerca in Percezione e Psicofisica. È stata Visiting Research Associate in Psychology (Honorary) alla Washington University in St. Louis (Missouri, USA). È titolare di incarichi di docenza su diversi temi della psicologia ambientale, come la preferenza ambientale, lo stress ambientale e gli ambienti rigenerativi, i giardini terapeutici e la progettazione biofilica alle Università degli Studi di Padova e di Milano. È autrice di Stress ambientale. Cause e strategie di intervento (con M.R. Baroni, Carocci, 2013), di Introduzione alla biofilia. La relazione con la Natura tra genetica e psicologia (con G. Barbiero, Carocci, 2016) e di numerosi articoli pubblicati su riviste internazionali. Svolge attività di consulenza (RED Italy) di ambienti rigenerativi (restorative environment design) e biofilici (biophilic design).

RITA BERTO. Psychologist, Ph.D. in Perception and Psychophysics, Visiting Research Associate in Psychology (Honorary) at Washington University in St. Louis (Mo, USA). Professor of Environmental Psychology and Cognitive Psychology at the University of Padova (Italy) and senior researcher in numerous projects concerning man-environment fit at different Universities. Her research interests overlap psychology and architecture, in particular they focus on environmental preference and all aspects of cognitive benefits from exposure to restorative environments across the lifespan. She is an expert in planning restorative and biophilic environments, i.e. environments that foster attentional recovery from metal fatigue, healing gardens and environments for children and the elderly. She is author of numerous publications on international journals, and appointed reviewer for the main journals in the fields of Environmental Psychology. She is also author of two books, one on environmental stress and one on biophilia.

GIUSEPPE BARBIERO. Biologo, ricercatore di Ecologia all’Università della Valle d’Aosta, dove dirige il Laboratorio di Ecologia Affettiva (LEAF). Docente di Ecologia e di Ecopsicologia, si occupa della verifica sperimentale dell’ipotesi della biofilia e dei fondamenti della progettazione biofilica. È autore di Introduzione alla biofilia. La relazione con la Natura tra genetica e psicologia (con R. Berto, Carocci, 2016) e di Ecologia affettiva. Come trarre benessere fisico e mentale dal contatto con la Natura (Mondadori, 2017).

GIUSEPPE BARBIERO. Biologist, head of the Laboratory of Affective Ecology (LEAF) at the University of Valle d’Aosta. He is charter member of the Environmental Education Team of the Italian Society of Ecology. He is co-editor of Visions for Sustainability, an international scientific journal that promote debates on ways in which sustainability can be addressed and applied in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives.His main research interests are the Biophilia hypothesis, the Gaia hypothesis, and the Biophilic Design.

S In pratica gli effetti della luce, in particolare calda vs. fredda, funzionerebbero da mood inducer, cioè favorirebbero un certo tono dell’umore (proprio come come accade per il sole) e di conseguenza la prestazione lavorativa. Questo è particolarmente vero per le donne, che sono molto più sensibili degli uomini alle condizioni ambientali che favoriscono l’umore positivo (quindi le tonalità calde della luce).

La progettazione della luce è sicuramente un argomento più complesso di quanto possa sembrare a prima vista, perché a differenza degli altri elementi presenti in un ambiente interno, la luce artificiale si alterna e si modifica in rapporto alla luce naturale proveniente dalle finestre e ai materiali presenti nell’ambiente.

Illuminare un ambiente non è più sufficiente. La luce va studiata non soltanto rispetto al compito da svolgere, ma anche rispetto alle esigenze rigenerative dell’individuo e a questo proposito deve ricordare il più possibile la luce naturale.

Il nostro orologio biologico ha bisogno degli indizi luminosi giusti per un buon funzionamento e questo significa ricevere la quantità di luce fisiologicamente necessaria nel corso della giornata. Ma non è solo una questione di quantità, è anche una questione di intensità.

Ambienti illuminati al massimo non solo non garantiscono una buona visione, ma hanno anche un effetto stressogeno sull’organismo.Un ambiente ben illuminato è progettato sulle caratteristiche del sistema visivo, sulle caratteristiche della luce e dei materiali/superfici presenti nell’ambiente.

Light effects, particularly warm vs. cold light, act like mood inducers, so they stimulate a certain tone - just like it happens with the sun - and as a consequence they enhance work efficiency.This is especially true for women, who are more sensitive than men to the environmental conditions that favour positive tones, like warm light hues.

Lighting design is surely a more complex subject than it may seem at first sight, because unlike other elements of an indoor environment, artificial lighting alternates and changes in relation to the natural light coming through the windows or to the materials inside the space.

Illuminating a room is not enough anymore. The lighting has to be studied not just according to its purpose, but also considering the regenerative requirements of an individual, and to this end it should recreate natural light as much as possible.

Our biological clock requires the right light pointers to operate properly, which means we need to receive the exact amount of light our body demands throughout the day. However, it is not just a question of quantity, but also of light intensity.

As well as not providing an optimal vision, over-illuminated spaces also have a stress-inducing effect on the organism.A well illuminated environment is designed according to the characteristics of the visual system, of the light and of the materials or finishes inside the setting.

Berreste del latte che appare rosso o un’aranciata blu? E quante volte siete apparsi pallidi soltanto perchè eravate sotto la luce sbagliata?La color rendition cioè la capacità di una fonte luminosa di riprodurre fedelmente il colore degli oggetti come farebbe la luce naturale, è fondamentale perché il riconoscimento di queste caratteristiche ha valore adattativo per noi esseri umani, cioè si è rivelato un meccanismo utile alla sopravvivenza nel corso della nostra storia evoluzionistica.L’impatto della color rendition sulla prestazione e la soddisfazione lavorativa non è ancora chiaro. In questo caso è probabile che l’effetto non sia diretto come per la percezione della bontà di alimenti e bevande, ma indiretto, cioè che agisca sull’umore.

Would you drink a glass of orange juice if it looked blue, or maybe some red milk? And how many times you looked pale just because you were under the wrong light?Colour rendition is the ability of a light source to translate the colour of an object as faithfully as natural light would do. It is an essential quality, because recognizing these characteristics carries an adaptive value for us human beings, which has proved to be a useful mechanism of survival throughout the history of our evolution.The impact of colour rendition on work efficiency and satisfaction is not clear yet.In this particular case it is probable its effect may not be as direct as it is on the taste perception of food and drinks, but indirect, which means it operates on mood.

S Ma non deve trascurare il ruolo della visione periferica e il significato funzionale che rivestono le ombre.L’ambiente in cui si è evoluto l’essere umano richiedeva di essere ispezionato tutto intorno; illuminare ambienti, oggetti e superfici in maniera puntuale, cioè favorendo esclusivamente la visione foveale, non rispecchia le condizioni in cui si è sviluppata la visione umana.Soprattutto non favorisce quel tipo di visione “esplorativa” che ha accompagnato i nostri antenati nel processo di conoscenza dell’ambiente naturale.Anche nell’ambiente interno va favorita la visione periferica attraverso un’ illuminazione che vari di intensità nei diversi punti dell’ambiente.

È proprio la visione periferica che crea “la sensazione di ambiente” dando la giusta profondità agli spazi, mettendo in evidenza le proporzioni degli elementi presenti nell’ambiente, creando interesse verso oggetti e materiali attraverso giochi di ombre e/o riflessi. Tutti questi indizi percettivi sono necessari all’essere umano per mettere in atto comportamenti finalizzati e per vivere una sensazione di here-ness, cioè di identità con il luogo.

Da qui deriva la necessità di nuove forme di illuminazione che non rispondano più soltanto all’esigenza di fare luce, ma che assecondino il legame biofilico Uomo-Natura e il bisogno di rigenerazione dell’individuo.Noi non ne siamo consapevoli, ma la risposta di preferenza che manifestiamo nei confronti degli ambienti interni è orientata proprio dal legame biofilico Uomo-Natura e dal nostro bisogno di rigenerazione psicofisiologica.

However, it shouldn’t overlook the importance of the peripheral vision and the functional role played by shadows.Man has evolved in an environment which needed to be explored and searched all around. A lighting scheme focused directly on objects or surfaces only favours the foveal vision and doesn’t reflect the original conditions in which our sight developed.Most of all, it doesn’t benefit the “explorative” vision that guided our ancestors in the process of discovery of their natural surroundings.It’s important to assist the peripheral vision indoors as well, and this can be achieved thanks to a lighting that changes its intensity in different locations of the environment.

Peripheral vision conveys depth to the spaces highlighting the proportions of the elements inside the environment, and draws the attention towards objects and materials creating contrasts with shadows or glare.All these perception stimuli help us develop a sense of here-ness, which is a feeling of identity with the place where we are.

This has originated our need for a new kind of lighting which doesn’t just illuminate a space anymore, but also favours the Man-Nature biophilic bond and the personal regenerative requirements.We may not be aware of it, but our preferential response to indoor environments is influenced precisely by the biophilic bond between man and nature and by our need for psycho-physical regeneration.

La biofilia è l’innata attrazione che noi esseri umani abbiamo per la Natura e per tutte le forme che la ricordano.In pratica quando entriamo in contatto con un qualsiasi ambiente (inconsapevolmente) ci mettiamo subito alla ricerca delle caratteristiche dell’ambiente naturale che ci ha ospitato come specie; più ne ha e più ci piace.

Inoltre il quadro di riferimento cognitivo che orienta la nostra preferenza per gli ambienti interni è la percezione di rigenerazione, ovvero quanto benessere in termini di rigenerazione dalla fatica mentale (attivazione dell’attenzione involontaria) e dallo stress psicofisiologico (attivazione del sistema nervoso parasimpatico) ci offre quell’ambiente.

Il benessere psicofisico richiede una luce che vari nel corso della giornata, proprio come cambiano i compiti che svolgiamo parallelamente al nostro livello di attivazione giornaliero.

Biophilia is the innate attraction that us human beings have towards nature and all the things that remind us of it.When we find ourselves in any environment, we unconsciously start looking for features of the natural environment originally inhabited by our species - the more elements we recognize, the more we like that setting.

Our preference for certain indoor spaces is influenced by our perception of regeneration. We choose according to the level of well-being which the environment offers, in terms of regeneration from mental fatigue and psycho-physical stress.

Psycho-physical well-being requires a light that changes throughout the day, just like the different tasks we have to complete.

S La luce artificiale non può sostituirsi alla luce naturale, ma può essere un ottimo alleato a mantenere e/o favorire il benessere psicofisico se opportunamente progettata secondo i criteri della progettazione biofilica.

La luce deve sostenere il nostro bisogno di comprendere ed esplorare l’ambiente intorno a noi, processi favoriti da caratteristiche dell’ambiente come la coerenza, la complessità, leggibilità e il mistero che possono essere sapientemente esaltate da una corretta illuminazione.

Artificial light can’t replace natural light, but it can be a great ally in maintaining and stimulating the psycho-physical well-being, when it’s studied and designed following the principles of biophilia.

Light has to support our necessity to understand and explore our surroundings. Certain characteristics of the environment, such as its coherence, complexity, and mystery can help in these processes, especially if they are wisely exploited with the right lighting.

Il comfort visivo, cioè il livello di rigenerazione offerto dalla luce artificiale, è un aspetto spesso trascurato nella progettazione architettonica che ignora l’importanza del legame biofilico Uomo-Natura nella progettazione d’interni.

Quando si percepisce un ambiente, “il tutto non è mai la somma delle singole parti” perché tutti gli elementi ambientali interagiscono fra loro.

La luce è un elemento chiave dell’ambiente perchè a differenza degli altri elementi ambientali agisce direttamente sulla componente affettivo-emotiva influenzando la preferenza per l’ambiente stesso e la percezione di rigenerazione immediata che ne abbiamo.

Per questa ragione nella realizzazione di progetti architettonici (residenziali, scolastici, lavorativi, ricreativi, di cura) diventa essenziale valutare attentamente la componente rigenerativa della luce che non va progettata soltanto sul compito, sullo stile architettonico, sul design dell’arredo, ma sul legame biofilico Uomo-Natura.

In tal modo, progettare la luce di un ambiente diventa una questione di salute, perché influisce direttamente sul benessere psicofisico dell’individuo.

Rita Berto e Giuseppe Barbiero sono autori del Biophilic Quality Index (BQI, Indicatore di Qualità Biofilica; Berto e Barbiero, 2017) strumento rivolto ad architetti e progettisti che consente di valutare quanto un progetto è biofilico/rigenerativo. Una sezione del loro strumento è dedicata alla luce.

Visual comfort is the level of regeneration granted by artificial light and it’s often overlooked when architectural projects ignore the importance of the biophilic bond between man and nature for the interior design.

When we experience an environment, “the whole is something else than the sum of its parts”, since all the single elements interact with each other.

Lighting plays a key role in the environment, because unlike other features it acts directly on the affective-emotional aspect conditioning our preference for that same environment and our perception of immediate regeneration.

For this reason, it’s essential to study carefully the regenerative dimension of the light in the realization of different architectural projects and design a lighting scheme not according to its primary purpose, to the style of the decor or the furniture, but to the Man-Nature biophilic relation.

By doing this, lighting design become a matter of health, as it has direct influence on the human psycho-physical well-being.

Rita Berto and Giuseppe Barbiero are the authors of the Biophilic Quality Index (BQI; Berto and Barbiero, 2017), an instrument for architects and interior designers allowing to measure how biophilic/regenerative a project is. A segment of this instrument is dedicated to light.

The winner of 4 Compasso d’Oro Awards will sign the brand new designer LED lamps collection, which will be created in Molvena, Italy, where OLEV established its production base.

OLEV is the brand created in 2014 by Andrea Lanaro, an Italian entrepreneur that has been working in the lighting industry for 25 years.

Back then it was the first brand to present a catalogue of decorative lamps exclusively equipped with LED technology.

The collaboration with a design star like Marc Sadler is evidence of the impressive growth path that the brand is undergoing in order to take Made in Italy decorative and functional lighting across the national borders.

“Marc Sadler will know how to convey the Olev lamps a unique and identifiable style,” said Andrea Lanaro.

La luce artificiale riesce ad avvicinarsi alla luce naturale. E come hanno dimostrato recenti studi scientifici sull’influenza che l’illuminazione ha sulla fisiologia umana, questo significa che anche la luce artificiale ora può dare una risposta più performante in termini di benessere.Anche l’Uomo è cambiato. Oggi parliamo di un uomo moderno, che non ha più tempo. L’Uomo si è adattato ad una velocità diversa, e vive in abitazioni molto diverse rispetto ad una volta, che hanno modificato anche il sistema di vita.

Anni fa si viveva intorno al focolare. Si viveva in famiglia, e la cucina diventava il punto d’incontro tra le persone. Relazionandosi con le esigenze dell’Uomo moderno e con le nuove attività lavorative, oggi l’architettura ha aperto questi luoghi. Non esiste più la cucina, ma un luogo che si sfrutta al 100% e in cui la zona più importante è il convivio, il salone.

Artificial light is coming closer to natural light. As shown by recent scientific studies on the effect of lighting on human physiology, this means that also artificial light can now provide a solution which is more advanced in terms of well-being.The Man has changed, as well. Today’s modern Man doesn’t have any time to waste. He’s moving faster, he lives in a house which is very different from before and has also changed his lifestyle.

Years ago people used to cherish the household. All the family lived together and the kitchen was the place where everybody gathered. Dealing with the demands of the modern Man and with new employment activities, architecture has now opened these spaces. There is no kitchen anymore, instead a place you can exploit at 100% and where the most significant space is the living room.

Da semplice area funzionale è diventata un’area del benessere, dove ritemprare lo spirito e il corpo.La luce deve partecipare insieme al design e all’architettura per dare una risposta a queste nuove esigenze. In termini di design invece abbiamo bisogno di oggetti che abbiano un’espressione e un’identità importante. Finita l’epoca dei grandi designer - i vari Mendini, Castiglioni, Magistretti - si ricercano degli strumenti con funzioni particolari che assolvono a una funzione sensoriale: benessere visivo, controllo acustico. Da qui nasce l’evoluzione da lighting designer a Sense Designer, verso una progettazione olistica che tende alla biofilia.

Not just that - also the bathroom has completely changed its purpose. From a simple functional room, it has become a wellness area, where you can restore your body and soul.Light has to cooperate with the design and the architecture in order to find an answer to these new demands. As far as design is concerned, we need objects with striking aesthetics and strong character.Now that the age of the great designers has ended - such as Mendini, Castiglioni, Magistretti - the focus is on instruments with specific features which fulfill a function related to the senses: visual comfort, acoustic monitoring.This is where the evolution from lighting designer to Sense Designer originates, towards a new holistic design that aims to biophilia.

Progettazione olistica, biofilia e Sense Design sono concetti nuovi: appartengono ad una nuova era, e rispetto al passato responsabilizzano i progettisti e le aziende produttrici di corpi illuminanti. Il tema dell’illuminazione si deve sviluppare come un racconto del pensiero fondato sullo studio dell’Uomo, del suo benessere, delle emozioni e della sua felicità.

Il benessere in sé è una condizione molto limitata. La felicità è l’ambizione finale, e la scommessa per i prossimi anni è progettare la luce per rendere felice l’Uomo.

Quindi lasciarsi cullare da un’atmosfera che ci accoglie in uno spazio emozionale, dal quale possiamo ricevere diversi stimoli e all’interno del quale vivere un’esperienza. Abbiamo perso o stiamo perdendo il gusto del meravigliarci, soprattutto davanti alle cose semplici che oramai diamo per scontate. È qui che si innesta il Sense Design, la progettazione sensoriale che ruota intorno ai temi olistici e che punta a rendere l’Uomo felice.

Quindi una progettazione che si avvale del contributo di professionalità specifiche che interagiscono in maniera armonica sul tema del benessere delle persone. È una nuova cultura, che risponde a precise esigenze di mercato.

Il percorso di ricerca intrapreso insieme ad OLEV appartiene a questa nuova visione.

Holistic design, biophilia and sense design are new concepts - they belong to a modern era and compared to the past, their new purpose is to raise awareness in the designers and the companies that produce lighting fixtures.Lighting is a theme that needs to be developed like a tale about the idea based on the study of the Man, his well-being, his emotions and his happiness.

Well-being is a very limited condition. Happiness is the final goal. And the challenge for the next few years will be to develop a lighting design that makes people happy.

Plunging into an atmosphere that embraces us and takes us to an emotional space, where we can perceive different stimuli and live an actual experience.We’ve lost - or at least we are losing - the pleasure of wonder, especially in front of the little things, which we now take for granted.

Here is where Sense Design takes action - the sensory design revolving around holistic themes which aims at making the Man happy.

This new approach to design requires the contribution of different kinds of expertise, which interact and combine to develop the theme of human well-being. It’s a completely new culture, which answers to specific market requirements. The research path engaged upon together with OLEV belongs exactly to this new vision.

Nel 2012 un team composto da architetti, ingegneri, biologi, medici e docenti Universitari ha unito le forze per realizzare un obiettivo ambizioso: creare la casa del futuro dove vivere il massimo comfort abitativo completamente scollegati da fonti esterne.È nato così il progetto Biosphera.

Biosphera è una “casa passiva”. Non richiede di essere allacciata a reti esterne per offrire i normali servizi come bagno, cucina, elettrodomestici.E’ stata costruita sotto forma di modulo itinerante, per essere trasportata in tutto il mondo e utilizzata anche in climi estremi.

Arrivata alla terza versione, Biosphera è oggi una casa dove vivere un benessere costante, migliorando la salute e diminuendo lo stress.Oltre alle temperature ideali costanti, all’interno del modulo abitativo Biosphera sono presenti le più avanzate tecnologie al mondo per rigenerare corpo e mente.E per quanto riguarda l’illuminazione degli ambienti, OLEV è stato scelto come main partner del progetto.

In una casa progettata per il benessere, non poteva mancare un’attenzione particolare al comfort visivo e all’effetto della luce sull’organismo.Per questo abbiamo illuminato gli interni del modulo con la tecnologia di luce a LED evoluta che si adatta alle esigenze psicofisiche delle persone, variando di intensità e colore a seconda delle preferenze o dell’orario della giornata.

In 2012 a team of architects, engineers, biologists, medical doctors and University professors joined forces to carry out an ambitious plan: create the house of the future where you can live in the utmost comfort, completely disconnected from any external source.And that’s how the Biosphera project was born.

Biosphera is a “passive house”. It doesn’t need to be connected to external grids to grant normal utilities, like the bathroom, the kitchen or household appliances.It was built as an itinerant housing module, which can be transported all around the world and used even in harsh climatic conditions.

In its third version, Biosphera is today a house where you can experience a constant well-being, improving your health and decreasing stress.Apart from the permanent ideal temperature, inside the Biosphera housing module you can find the most advanced technologies in the world for the regeneration of your body and mind.And with regard to the lighting of the environments, OLEV has been chosen as main partner of the project.

In a house designed specifically for the well-being, paying special attention to visual comfort and the effect of light on the physiology was more important than ever.For this reason, we illuminated the interiors of the housing module with the most advanced LED technology that adjusts to the psychophysical needs of the people, changing intensity and colour according to personal preferences or the time of day.

Abitazione privata - Bassano Del Grappa, VI

Siamo a Bassano del Grappa, sulle rive del fiume Brenta. Uno splendido giardino, ornato di ulivi, sughere, piante secolari e affascinanti composizioni floreali. Un giardino cui mancava un progetto di illuminazione abbastanza audace da renderlo ancora più perfetto.Dal portico di questa splendida villa bassanese, è possibile incamminarsi tra le piante, attraverso un lungo percorso pedonale che avvolge il perimetro dell’abitazione.

Per esaltare la bellezza e di una passeggiata in notturna, era necessario pensare ad un’illuminazione capace di sfruttare la particolarità delle foglie di ulivi e sughere. Essendo foglie molto piccole, permettono di creare giochi di luce particolareggiati e quasi caleidoscopici.

Disposte per illuminare dal basso verso l’alto, le sorgenti luminose invisibili agli occhi hanno consentito di rendere magico il giardino anche di notte.

We are in Bassano del Grappa, on the banks of the river Brenta. A wonderful garden, rich with olive trees, cork oaks, ancient plants, and fascinating flower arrangements. A garden where the only thing missing was a lighting design ambitious enough to make it even more perfect.From the porch of this incredible villa near Bassano, you can walk among the vegetation, down a long walking path that surrounds the property.

To better appreciate the beauty of a night walk, it was necessary to design a lighting scheme that could exploit all the details in the leaves of the olive trees and the cork oaks.These very little leaves create amazing light effects, with countless details, almost like a kaleidoscope.

Wisely placed to illuminate from the ground upwards, the light sources are invisible to the eye and make the garden appear magical also at night.

LA LUCE SEGRETA DEGLI ULIVI: ECCO COME L’ILLUMINAZIONE OLEV HA CREATO UN’ATMOSFERA MAGICA IN QUESTO BELLISSIMO GIARDINOIn un ampio giardino del bassanese ricco di piante rigogliose, mancava un’illuminazione capace di farlo splendere anche di notte. Andrea Lanaro racconta il progetto OLEV che ha sfruttato il fascino della Natura per creare un’area verde di una bellezza mozzafiato.

CT LA VEGETAZIONE NASCONDE LE SORGENTI LUMINOSE PER IL MASSIMO COMFORT VISIVO

Tutti i cespugli e i pini sparsi per la proprietà erano il luogo ideale per nascondere le sorgenti luminose. Dietro gli arbusti o tra le foglie, una serie di spot illuminano ogni angolo buio del giardino. In questo modo si mantiene un effetto di luce diffusa, anche se le sorgenti sono posizionate in punti specifici. Un esempio è la bellissima aiuola con fiori illuminata da Zoe, nuovo articolo OLEV che verrà presto presentato a Euroluce, durante il Salone del Mobile di Milano. Zoe è una sottilissima astina in acciaio decorata in testa da una foglia in alluminio fresato color bronzo, che si mimetizza completamente con l’aiuola. Un piccolo fantasma luminoso per esaltare la bellezza dei fiori.

THE VEGETATION HIDES THE LIGHT SOURCES FOR THE HIGHEST VISUAL COMFORTThe bushes and the pine trees all over the property were the ideal place to hide the light sources.Behind the shrubs or among the leaves, a series of spotlights illuminate every dark corner in the garden. This way, the end result is a diffused light, even though the lighting fixtures are placed in specific locations. An example is the wonderful flower bed illuminated by Zoe, a brand new OLEV product, which will be presented at Euroluce, during the Salone del Mobile in Milan.Zoe is a thin steel straw, decorated on top with a milled aluminum leaf painted in a bronze-colour, which blends perfectly in the flower bed. A little light ghost to accentuate the beauty of the flowers.

In questo caso, il fascio di luce parte dall’alto e va verso il basso, creando un ulteriore vantaggio sia sul piano estetico che funzionale: la direzione della luce permette infatti di eliminare completamente il rischio di abbagliamenti, regalando un comfort visivo ottimale.

In this case, the light beam is directed downwards, providing an additional benefit, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality - the light direction allows to eliminate completely the glare risk, ensuring the utmost visual comfort.

Il fascio luminoso non oltrepassa i limiti del tavolo, concedendo così la possibilità di osservare il giardino in tutto il suo splendore durante la cena.

Una suggestione elegante e piacevole, come una serata in un ristorante stellato.

L’illuminazione continua lungo tutta la proprietà, per creare un ponte tra la casa e l’area esterna.

A SUMMER DINNER TURNS INTO AN EVENING AT A STARRED RESTAURANTUnder the porch, an invisible spotlight provides the ideal light for a summer dinner with friends.

The light beam doesn’t spread beyond the table, so that the guests can admire the inspiring beauty of the garden throughout the entire dinner.

An elegant and delightful ambience, just like an evening at a starred restaurant.

The lighting continues on the entire property, connecting the house to the outdoor area.

UN’ILLUMINAZIONE SCENOGRAFICA CON UN’ATTENZIONE AGLI EQUILIBRI DELLA NATURAUna parte fondamentale del progetto ha riguardato la possibilità di illuminare singole zone del giardino. Il cliente desiderava creare degli scenari particolari, per diverse situazioni. La luce nell’area esterna non è piatta e omogenea, ma gestita per fare da scenografia ideale alle proprie serate, anche grazie all’altissima resa cromatica dei LED.

DRAMATIC LIGHTING RESPECTFUL OF THE BALANCE OF NATUREA fundamental step in the project was providing a solution for the illumination of single areas in the garden.The client wanted to create special scenarios for different situations. The light in the outdoor area is not flat and uniform, instead it was designed to build the ideal scenery for any occasion, also thanks to the high colour rendering of the LEDs.

L’ingresso per le vetture è stato illuminato utilizzando i lampioni OLEV Spread in acciaio inox. La finitura scelta è il color ruggine con effetto corten.

Anche in questo caso, le sorgenti sono mimetizzate con le siepi ai lati del passo.

In questa maniera, le luci si rivolgono sempre verso il basso, permettendo di illuminare l’intero passo carraio, ma senza abbagliare chi entra o chi esce. La sicurezza dei passaggi è garantita, sia per chi è a piedi, sia per chi entra in automobile.

A SAFE PASSAGE TO DISCOVER THE WONDERFUL GARDENThe driveway is illuminated by OLEV Spread, stainless steel lamp ports with a corten rust finish.

Also in this case, the light sources blend in with the bushes on the sides of the road.

The light is pointed towards the ground, illuminating the entire driveway, without however glaring the guest that come in or out. The safety of the passage is always ensured for both drivers and walkers.

La cura delle scenografie si è accompagnata ad un’attenzione scrupolosa al benessere della vegetazione. I LED selezionati presentano un particolare tipo di fosforo che lascia inalterati gli equilibri naturali di cespugli, fiori, arbusti e piante.

The care for the setting goes along with the attention to the well-being of the vegetation.The LED selection contains a specific kind of phosphorus, which leaves unaltered the natural balance of bushes, flowers, and any plants.

In seguito a una veloce espansione, l’azienda Amer Spa con sede a Valdagno ha deciso di ampliare il proprio stabilimento.

Un nuovo e modernissimo edificio in vetro ora sorge a fianco di quello già attivo, ed è ad esso collegato tramite una passerella all’aperto.

Una passerella quindi che non è solo un semplice punto di passaggio, ma il simbolo del percorso intrapreso dall’azienda verso un successo duraturo.

Following a quick expansion, the Amer Spa company located in Valdagno decided to extend its establishment.

A new modern glass building now rises next to the original one and they are connected through an external walkway.

So the walkway is not just a passage from one building to another, but instead it is the symbol of the company’s path towards long-lasting success.

CORPI ILLUMINANTI INTEGRATI NELLA STRUTTURA PER UNO STILE CONTEMPORANEOIl corpo lampada sotto e sopra la passerella sono identici. Quello sotto funge da segnapasso, mentre quello sopra proietta la luce sul vetro opalino, creando così l’effetto di luce diffusa.Tutto il pacchetto lampada è in alluminio fresato e rivestito da un carter in acciaio inox 310 lucido ad uso marino, per garantire la massima protezione dagli agenti atmosferici. I corpi illuminanti sono totalmente integrati nella struttura portante e risultano invisibili agli occhi, per mantenere lo stile contemporaneo della struttura in acciaio e vetro.

Da qui è nata l’idea di arricchire questa struttura con un’illuminazione scenografica, per creare un elemento distintivo capace di rendere unico il nuovo stabilimento.

Grazie alla progettazione OLEV, appena scende il buio sullo sfondo delle colline di Valdagno si staglia questa originale creazione, su cui si alternano tonalità intense che la rendono visibile in tutta la zona.

Si accende l’illuminazione a LED perfettamente coordinata, per uno spettacolo indimenticabile di luci e colori.

From here came the idea to enrich this construction with a lighting scheme that would create a distinctive feature, capable of making the new establishment unique.

Thanks to the design by OLEV, as soon as the dark embraces the hills in Valdagno, this original setting, where intense light tones alternate, emerges and is displayed to be admired from all the surrounding area.

The perfectly choreographed LED lighting turns on to stage an unforgettable show with different lights and colours.

A due passi dal Ponte Vecchio di Bassano del Grappa, nasce il Ristorante Impronta.

Un sogno divenuto realtà di Laura Avogadri, direttrice, e Cristopher Carraro, Chef stellato, che propone sapori delicati e irresistibili in un ambiente curato nei minimi dettagli.

L’illuminazione doveva creare l’atmosfera perfetta per rendere memorabile una cena di altissimo livello. Per questo Laura e Cristopher hanno da subito manifestato l’intenzione di illuminare solo i tavoli:

“Il Ristorante Impronta è il sogno di vita mio e di Cristopher”, racconta Laura.

“E per rendere al meglio questo sogno era fondamentale avere una luce focalizzata sui tavoli.

La luce infatti doveva valorizzare i piatti di Cristopher, e allo stesso tempo rendere piacevole l’esperienza dei clienti. Una coccola, qualcosa di cui ricordarsi.”

L’ambiente del ristorante nasce da una ristrutturazione. Era necessario progettare l’illuminazione da zero, e quindi affidarsi alla sensibilità dei professionisti della luce:

“Siamo partiti da zero con la ristrutturazione di questo locale. Partendo da un ambiente al grezzo, era fondamentale trovare il modo di illuminarlo al meglio, e per questo ci siamo affidati a OLEV”

A dream came true for Laura Avogadri, manager, and Cristopher Carraro, star Chef, who presents delicate and irresistible flavours in a location where all the details were studied with great care.

The lighting had to create an ideal atmosphere that could make any refined dinner unforgettable. For this reason, Laura and Christopher chose from the very beginning to illuminate only the tables:

“The restaurant Impronta is the dream of a lifetime for Christopher and I”. tells Laura.

“And to realize this dream at best, it was essential that the light was focused on the tables.

The light needed to complement Christopher’s dishes and at the same grant the guests a delightful experience. A warm hug, something to remember.”

The spaces inside the restaurant are the result of a renovation project. It was necessary to design a lighting scheme from scratch, so obviously, they had to turn to the expertise of lighting professionals.

“We started from nothing with the renovation of this place. In the beginning, the environment was rough and unpolished, we needed to find a way to illuminate it at best, so we entrusted OLEV with this task.”

L’illuminazione delle aree di passaggio in un hotel ha una duplice funzione. Da un lato deve consentire all’ospite di muoversi agevolmente da un’area all’altra, guidandolo attraverso le diverse zone della struttura. Dall’altro, deve contribuire a creare ambienti confortevoli, dove l’ospite si sente accolto.

Per il restyling dell’area di accesso ai piani e lungo i corridoi dell’Hotel La Pieve di Chiampo (VI) avevamo l’esigenza di individuare una fonte di illuminazione di qualità.

Doveva essere un’illuminazione dal design essenziale, con la possibilità di customizzare i corpi illuminanti in base allo specifico utilizzo. Le soluzioni OLEV sono state le risposte a queste necessità, e hanno contribuito a creare l’atmosfera ideale nelle aree rinnovate.

Light has a double purpose in the transit areas of a hotel.On one hand, it has to facilitate the guests’ movement from one location to another, guiding them through the different areas of the building.On the other hand, it plays an important role in creating comfortable environments, where the visitors can always feel welcome.

For the restyling of the area leading to the floors, and along the hallways of the Hotel La Pieve in Chiampo (VI), we needed to select a high-quality light source.

It had to be a lighting scheme with an essential design, allowing for customizations of the lighting fixtures according to specific requirements. OLEV solutions were the answer to all of these demands, and they concurred to create the ideal atmosphere in the renovated areas.

Abitazione privata - Costabissara, VI

Il progetto contemplava la definizione di una soluzione personalizzata per una residenza unifamiliare di nuova costruzione, situata al piano attico di un edificio condominiale nella periferia di Vicenza.

l committenti desideravano che la loro nuova casa fosse “sartoriale”, con ambienti creati in funzione di esigenze specifiche e spazi su misura in ogni dettaglio.

Gli ambienti, dotati di ogni comfort ma dal design essenziale, rispecchiano il gusto dei proprietari per uno stile minimal ed elegante.

Il sistema di illuminazione è stato studiato fin dall’inizio come elemento fondante del progetto, per esaltare gli accostamenti cromatici e materici degli arredi.

The project had to present a bespoke solution for a newly built single-family home, located on the first floor of an apartment building in the suburbs of Vicenza.

The clients wanted their brand new home to be “tailored” to them, with environments designed according to their specific needs and made-to-measure spaces.

The rooms are equipped with any kind of comfort, but still have a minimal design and match the owners’ essential and elegant style to perfection.

The lighting design was studied since the beginning and considered a fundamental element of the entire project, capable of highlighting the combinations of colours and materials of the decor.

Proprio i LED posizionati dietro la parete attrezzata consentono di aumentare le soluzioni di illuminazione a disposizione, per passare da luci intense a luci più soffuse in qualsiasi momento.

THE FITTED WALL CREATES DIFFERENT LIGHT PATTERNSThe long fitted wall, including a boiserie with a double line of lighting, increases the space perception in the living area.

The LEDs placed behind the fitted wall allow for different lighting patterns, changing from bright lights to softer lighting at any time.

SEdificio direzionale - Berlino

Il prestigioso marchio automobilistico Mercedes-Benz ha scelto l’illuminazione di design OLEV per il nuovo edificio direzionale a Berlin Mitte, nel cuore della capitale tedesca.

L’edificio nascerà dalla ristrutturazione del palazzo Kaufhaus Jandorf risalente ai primi anni del Novecento, che nella sua storia è stato prima un grande magazzino e poi un famoso istituto di moda durante la Repubblica Democratica Tedesca (DDR).

Il palazzo si presenta con un’affascinante facciata in stile Art Nouveau, che lo pone di diritto nella lista dei monumenti di Stato.

The world-famous automotive brand Mercedes-Benz has chosen OLEV designer lighting for its new administrative building in Berlin Mitte, the very heart of the German capital city.

The building will arise from the restoration of the Kaufhaus Jandorf compound dating back to the beginning of 1900, which throughout its history has served at first as a department store and later as renowned fashion institute during the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

The building has a fascinating facade in the Art Nouveau style, which secures it rightful entry in the State monuments list.

S Il progetto di ristrutturazione prevede un bistrò al piano terra, e gli uffici di Mercedes ai piani superiori. Sul tetto, un giardino con spazi relax consentirà di godersi la vista sul quartiere Mitte, il centro creativo della città.

Tutte le lampade OLEV saranno realizzate su disegno dello studio di architettura, per garantire una luce funzionale e allo stesso tempo capace di valorizzare l’esclusiva location.

I lavori sono già iniziati, e il completamento è previsto entro l’estate del 2019.

The renovation project includes a restaurant on the ground floor and the Mercedes offices on the upper levels. On the rooftop, a garden with relaxation areas will allow visitors to enjoy the inspiring view of the Mitte district, the creative core of the city.

All of the OLEV lamps will be produced following the directions of the design firm, to grant functional light and at the same time complement the details of this exclusive location.

The work is now in progress and it’s expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
