    TERM INOLOGY -BLOCKS 0DRIVE: Blocker which you are aligned on attacks straight at you and tries to knock .Lvou off the football and tries to widen you. TREACH: Front side scoop. The blocker is scooping you from side trying to get his f fbody between you and the football.CUTOFF: Back side scoop. The blocker is scooping you back side trying to get his

    ~~body between you and the football.

    DOWN: The blocker is trying to block the next man down and inside of you. ~~

    VEER: Inside release by the blocker to block inside backer, trying to avoid you.~

    SCOOP: Full zone step by the offensive linemen. ppTPOWER SCOOP: Blocker posts you up with a drive block, second lineman bucket ~i

    steps behind trying to gain position on you and lening drive blockerrelease on linebacker.

    BLOCK RECOGNITIONBase

    1) Explode off ball - attack blocker - hand fit - separation - feet moving.2) Maintain gap leverage, cannot get knocked off LOS.3) Violently snatch release, find ball and pursue.

    Zone-Reach1) Explode off ball - attack blocker - hand fit - separation - feet moving.2) Work up field, push/pull, maintain gap leverage.3) CANNOT GET REACHED! -AT ALL COSTS!4) Violently release when ball declares and pursue ball carrier.

    Cut-Off1) Explode off ball - attack blocker - hand fit - separation.2) Squeeze OL - condense gap and maintain gap leverage.3) Release when ball declares or blocker's hips tum.4) Can use a backdoor release.5) Stay tight, don't run up field, stay tight to LOS - be aware of cutback.

    Scoop Block1) Explode - attack blocker - hand fit - separation - feet moving2) F it on G as he works up field, G will take you to play by proper handfit.

    3) Upon feeling T coming work in seam between G and T4) Work up field - make T run you to the play5) Be aware of possible cut block - use outside hand to protect6) Shed blocker violently and chase the football.

    Cut Block1) Explode off ball- attack blocker - good pad'level2) As OL head drops to cut - stay square to LOS3) Shoot hands and jam blocker's helmet and pad, forcing blocker downand away.

    4) Give ground, keep feet moving, stay low.

    2) Influence TrapA. Note high hat - showing pass - RUSH.B. See G taking you up field - look inside for trapC. Sit and take on trapper with inside shoulder - stay low and

    square. Squeeze the hole.

    Double Team1) Split TechniqueA. Explode - attack base blocker - hand fit - separation - feet

    movmg.B. Feel down block - sit on stool into down block (butt in gap).C. Work to split block, work up field - keep feet active.

    2) Knee DropA. Explode - attack base blocker - hand fit - separation - feetmoving.

    B. Feel down block - drop gap knee and pop up.C. Feel down block coming off, disengage base blocker, pursue

    football.CP: IfD-Lineman is losing ground, immediately get down and collapse thegap. It is important that the D-Lineman doesn't get taken to the next leveland one of the linemen gets to the linebacker. If 2 are on 1 then that means adefensive player is free.Trap

    1) Veer TrapA. Explode off ball.B. If no one is blocks - look inside for trapping lineman.C. Play wrong ann technique to spill outside.

    Fold Block1) Explode.off ball - attack blocker.2) Notice down block as man head on pulls - (read light/heavy in pre-snap).3) If down blocker's head is in front of body - wipe across his face.4) If down blocker's head is behind body - U-Turn It, run the circle -stay tight to LOS.

    5) Don't give any ground - shed block and chase the football.

    Pass Rush TechniquesQualities of a Great pass rusher

    1) Intelligence (Football IQ) - Knows what to do, knows what's goingon.2) Effort and Determination - Pass rush is 90% want to.

    3) Speed and Quickness - Must be agile and able to run well.4) Strength5) Fundamentally sound - Good technique is a must.

    Objectives of Good Pass Rush - Pressure the QB1) Sack the QB2) Knock down passes3) Disrupt the confidence of QB and passing game rhythm4) Create turnovers - Interceptions and fumbles

    Comm.andments of Pass Rush1) Know down and distance - pre snap reads.2) KnOW opponent - weaknesses, protections, depth of QB drop.3) Have a predetermined rush plan.4) Key the ball, anticipate the snap.5) Good get off on snap with a good low body lean.6) Attack half a man, know and use proper rush lane.7) Active feet and violent hands - always stay active.8) Keep rush up field at all times. (Retrace when QB steps up in pocket)9) Gain ground to OL - close distance between OL and rusher; stay tightto QL, keep his hands off of you.

    10)Execute move - coordinate hands and feet.11) Get hips past OL hips.12)Have counter move available if first move doesn't work.13)Accelerate off move to QB.14)QB in front of you - get hands up.15) QB front away - close.16)Ifyou are the contain rusher, rush the up field shoulder ofQB.17)Tackle high on QB - insures ball not being thrown, it also gives

    rusher the opportunity to strip the ball.18)Don't leave feet unless the ball has been released from QB 's hands

    and it is thrown in front of you.19)Ball thrown - plant, sink hips and redirect to ball.
