Students will be encouraged to move their sprites, hide and show them and get them to change colour depending on the story. Ms Debby

Daffodil Day is next Friday March 23rd. Funds generated on this day go towards that much needed and totally understated service afforded by the palliative care nurses to patients in their hour of greatest vulnerability and ill-health. At school we will be selling knitted items mostly costing €2 and €3. There are hand crafted hair slides, book marks, key chains and flower pots on sale. Please support if you can. It is a really good cause and we all know someone who has benefitted from the very specialised and sensitive care of these nurses. The photo below shows some of the items for sale at school this week.

Ms Nally

St Patrick’s Day: A huge congratulations to the brave pupils and their parents who came out to walk in the St Patrick’s Day Parade in what were the coldest and most harrowing conditions for decades! Many of our pupils walked with local clubs. Twenty four pupils represented our school promoting both our green theme, ‘Global Citizenship’ and Bliain na Gaeilge. Both banners were exquisitely designed by our artist in residence, Ms Maguire. The St Mary’s delegation also carried the Green Schools flag and our Gaelbhratach. How proud we are of our flags! As they marched, the pupils chanted ‘Ní neart go cur le chéile’ and our Gaelbhtach motto’ Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam, Scoil gan Ghaeilge, Scoil gan chroí’. At the town hall two of our pupils danced a two hand reel for the dignitaries while members of our Banna Ceoil played the Kerry Polka on their tin whistles, although their fingers were numb due to the wind chill factor. Well done all! You have definitely earned a homework pass! Maith sibh go léir.

We also won six team medals for the First Class Boys’ team as they came second place overall in their race.Well done boys and girls! Ms O’Hare

Green News

Reminder: Our Green theme this year is Global Citizenship – Energy. We carried our Global Citizenship banner in the St Patrick’s Day parade to let the people of Trim know that St Mary’s Green School Programme is going strong! Recycling continues at St Marys. We accept batteries, ink cartridges, mobile phones, card, toilet rolls, cans, footwear and postage stamps. Our recycled batteries are now going towards the Barretstown charity. Children helping children. Many charities benefit from our recycling and it is a great habit to cultivate in our pupils. Wow will resume this week. Meet up at Mornington House or down at The Matchbox at 9:00am. The WOW teachers will meet pupils there and escort them to the school. Keep an eye on the Imlitir and we will let you know when COW (Cycling on Wednesday) will resume. It will be after Easter. Perhaps you can use the break to check that your bicycles are in good working order and have them ready for COW season! The fifth of our Global goals relates to gender equality which is even more critical for our female counterparts in the developing world. This is very topical at the moment. Through education and the provision of equal opportunities we can foster this equality at home and highlight its importance for the developing world also. Through our fundraising we are contributing to the provision of education and hopefully to increased and fairer opportunities for those in the developing areas of our world. Happy Easter everyone .... and remember to recycle as much of the packaging of your Easter Eggs as you can!

Remember Green is cool at home, at school and around the globe!
