Being As An Ocean achieved what many bands are dreaming off. Last year they were still a newcomer with just one album and they have sold out many shows throughout the entire world and got a strong fanbase already. Now the band have recorded their second album and we got to ask Tyler a few questions about the new album HOW WE BOTH WONDROUSLY PERISH. Read his answers here:
What is the story behind the title of your upcoming album HOW WE BOTH WONDROUSLY PERISH? The title comes from the last line of a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke titled “Pieta”.It’s a gorgeous, heart-wrenching poem, and not particularly easy to find in English as Rilke was a German Poet. But I suppose the most of the readers in this publication will actually speak German, so they might even be able to know the title of the record as it was in its original language…
Who is the girl on your album cover and why did you choose her and that picture? Her name is Anna and she is a friend of photographer Rosie Hardy who took the picture in Manchester, England. I’d like to not put down here my entire reasons for setting that picture as the cover, but I would like to say that, to me, the album has a lot to do with sleep and dreams.
You parted ways with your drummer and guitarist before you started recording your album. Tell us something about the new members – who are they and why did you choose them?Connor Denis was the drummer of a band called Sleep Patterns who we met in South Florida. I recall being shocked at his drumming the first time we watched them play, and it was a very natural move to ask him about joining the band.
Michael McGough was the guitarist and
Singer of The Elijah, whom we helped close out their final European tour in 2013. After the tour, and after learning of Jacob’s departure, Michael gave me a call and asked if we needed him to join as well, as he was already scheduled to fly out to the studio to sing on a song. So everything fell into place rather easily.
What can fans expect from your next album – will it still be Being As An Ocean as we know it or did you change or add elements on the new record?We’re all growing up, including Michael and Connor, and I think that because of that the sound will always be changing as we edge closer to the sound we’ve always been looking for.
The last twelve months must have been like a roller coaster: From being just a small band releasing a record to now touring the world and releasing your second album. What goals - if any - have you set yourself for the new record?We want to be that band that kids grow up on. We had those bands when we were teenagers, and it would be a high honor and a big responsibility to be the same thing for the next generation.Interview: Dariush Bohlmann

Pierce The Veil are already one of the biggest Punk bands in the US but now Europe is on their agenda! On their last tour with Bring Me The Horizon they delighted many fans throughout Europe and they can’t wait to be back. Bassist Jaime answered our questions about house partys and touring in this interview:
You and All Time Low were touring across America with A Day To Remember on their ‘House Party’ tour, if you could also do a tour of the same magnitude, what theme would you have? I loved that tour!!!, We love all of those bands, and they are such great dudes!
I‘d have to say a “Pool Party Tour“ sounds like a good time. We would just play pool parties all across the US. That would be insane!!!
Besides from learning how to have a good time, what did you take from the tour with A Day To Remember?I think the main thing we took away from that tour was the importance of putting on the best live show possible! They really go 100% on their production for their shows. It really makes us want step up our live show in every aspect as well. We always try to put on the best show possible, and ADTR have definitely figured it out!
Tell us about any new album plans; have you made a start on any new material?We started writing as soon as we got back from Europe in December. For us, we don’t want to rush the writing process, and that way we have a ton of material when we enter the studio. So, the answer is yes, we already have new material…tons of random riffs and song ideas. We‘re stoked!
You were named band of the year by Rock Sound last year, what are you going to do this year that will put you in the running for winning it again in 2014?Honestly, we were so shocked and honored to be apart of that, and I think it was from all of our hard work paying off. A lot of people don’t know that we have toured Europe and the UK multiple times, and we have released 3 albums over the course of the last 7 years. On the BMTH tour, we played a lot of new markets, and we were so surprised by the crowd response. The fans are so passionate, and we felt just as much love in Europe as we do in the US. We can’t wait to go back and tour Europe & the UK again!
You’ve been around for a long time as a band; did this help you to prepare for scale of shows of which you perform at now?Yes! All of our experiences have helped us in every aspect of our band, but we have been the same dudes from day one, working hard and trying to have the most fun on these tours that we can! Shows have definitely gotten a little crazier,but we love it! Such amazing shows!
What goes through your mind when you’re performing to such large crowds as you are in America?I try not to think about it. Haha. I like making a personal connection with fans at every show, because I feed off their energy. We like to have a close relationship with our fans, because they are just as important to us as we are to them. We have the best fans in the world, and we all feel very fortunate!
Are there any milestones you’ve yet to reach as a band?On the next record cycle, we would like to play more festivals in Europe. We’ve all heard amazing things, so hopefully 2015 will have more of those in store for us!Interview: Dariush Bohlmann

While She Sleeps had to cancel all of their shows in the first half of 2014 due to a vocal chord injury of singer Loz. Questions like ‘Will While She Sleeps ever perform again?’ or ‘What will hapen to their new album?’ remained unanswered for a long time. Now Mat - Guitarist in WSS - was kind enough to answer these questions:
Loz - your singer - recently had to undergo throat surgery. Can you tell us why and what happened?We‘ve been on tour for the past few years straight and like anything you do over and over again, eventually it goes wrong.
Shouting and screaming is a dangerous thing for your voice & in our case Loz tore a part of his throat. He has had surgery and is almost back in action, we just have to take the recovery period seriously and do the relevant things to stop it happening again.
Did you know if he would ever be able to sing again before he got surgery? If not how did you cope with that?He could still sing before he got surgery, but if nothing was done about the injury in his throat it would have risked him damaging his vocal chords forever.
It seems like you spent quite a while working on your new album and recording it in the studio – what can we expect from the new material? Are there going to be loads of new elements? Is it gonna be While She Sleeps through and through?Writing an album is a big deal to all of us in the band and rushing things was never an option, we have put everything into the new album & are unbelievably happy with how it is coming along. It captures the sound we have created over the years & excels in the elements we feel are our strongest points.
Who did you work with in the studio and why did you work with him? We work with Carl Bown and Colin Richardson, they both have an amazing ear for music and believe solidly in what we do, they don‘t push their opinions upon us and respect the decisions we make. We believe this is really important in making an album, it is a creation of the 5 people in the band. The job of the people who record and produce it is to get our music onto record without stripping it of its feeling and sense of meaning.
You pay a lot of attention to your social media activities and always keep your fans updated – who is responsible in the band for that stuff? We all work together to keep our fans as updated and involved as possible, sometimes its easier than others! With the internet being such a huge part of peoples lives It is definitely important to work on having a good presence and vibe on social media.
When do you think you‘re going to be back on stage – since you had to cancel all of your shows in the first half of 2014?We were all really gutted to have to cancel the shows we had booked in 2014, but as I said previously, we have to do whats best for the health and well being of our band, and unfortunatly if that means cancelling shows, thats what we have to do! As soon as things are better, we WILL be back. Our first shows are in June & Download Festival in the UK, it still feels like a while away but hopefully it will come around quicker than we think! After than its back into the studio to finish the album. Once thats done we will hit the road again! Interview: Dariush Bohlmann
