Like other words, the term definition has subtly different meanings in different contexts.

A definition may be descriptive of the general use meaning, or stipulative of the speaker‘s

immediate intentional meaning. For example, in formal languages like mathematics, a

‚stipulative‘ definition guides a specific discussion. A descriptive definition can be shown

to be „right“ or „wrong“ by comparison to general usage, but a stipulative definition can

only be disproved by showing a logical contradiction.

In the course of the last year, we put things on the right tracks, as you all know by now

we are now . At all summer festivals, on all posters and in the process of

announcing the Impericon Never Say Die! tour you were able to read it and the name

is now established. With the winners of our Vans Warped competition we drew the line

under six very exhausting months and are now excited for the last few months of 2011

and the beginning of the new year.

Just in time for the start of the Impericon Never Say Die! tour, here is our fall and winter

chosing the models, the photo shoot in Hamburg, the final snapshot of our best products.

Content wise we continue to develop, as new bands appear and established bands keep

growing. All Shall Perish, The Devil Wears Prada, Terror, Suicide Silence and We Came

As Romans influence our process with their new CD’s and DVD’s, just as Chelsea Grin,

Could you tell me something about the writing and recording process – how long did it take?

Well the writing process really was pretty similar to how we wrote for Desolation of Eden.

We had about a month of time set aside, practiced almost every day as a whole, and still

wrote when we went home from practice.. just to have more material to work on the next

day. We always wish we would have had more time, but in the end the CD still came out

really good, and we are happy with it. It also just means that for our 3rd release we will be

able to spend many more time, thus making it even better in the end.

MY DAMNATION is such an intense and dark album. What drives you to write such music?

We really wanted the whole feel of this CD to be darker and meaner than Desolation of Eden,

even before we started writing it. We wrote the the title track of the CD very first, about a

year ago... and as we kept writing it just got darker and darker. The last 2 songs that we wrote

were Calling In Silence and All Hail The Fallen King, easily two of the more „metal“ tracks on

the album... and as we are writing more new material now its just more and more metal. No

specific influence or anything like that, we are just really good at writing pissed off music.

What are the main differences between MY DAMNATION and DESOLATION OF EDEN?

I feel like on Desolation of Eden it was 10 random songs that were written over a 2 and a

half year span, that were kind of just thrown in random order on our CD. We have been

touring fulltime for 2 years now, and in that 2 years we have had the exact same lineup,

and for My Damnation we finally got to write as a full band, as Desolation of Eden had a

lot of contribution from members that were no longer in the band. My Damnation is just

a way more pissed off version of Desolation of Eden, with a lot of obvious improvements.

We wanted to write a record that people could still tell it was us, but could obviously tell

the difference between the 2 cds as well... i think we achieved that pretty well.

What are the pros and cons about the “rockstar” life?

Words cannot describe how stoked all of us are that we are able to tour and be in a band full

time, so the goods are obvious i think. It‘s a really awesome feeling knowing that your „work“

is really what you enjoy, and there are thousands of people around the world listen to the

music that we write. The bads is kind of a harder subject, but it really just depends on the

situation. It‘s beyond expensive just to stay on the road as a band, and to tell with van/gear

repairs, money problems, not being at home, etc... it can be really hard to enjoy. but in the end,

its all worth it. we love what we do, haha.

Is touring a situation in which you can write new material?

We have never really wrote material while on the road, because we have always toured in a

van, and when we roll with 10 dudes in a van, there is no room for breathing comfortably,

let alone writing material haha. Luckily, we are on a bus for the All Stars Tour that we are

currently on, so we have a back lounge where we can set up our little pre-production rig

and write some new riffs, we actually have a lot of new material and My Damnation just

came out a month ago.

Talking about the future of Chelsea Grin, what are the highest goals you want to reach with band?

Well, we have achieved really the biggest goal of all and that is just being in a touring band

period. That was really my first goal when I started a band...just to tour. Now that we have

done that, really its just a matter of touring with bands that I grew up loving, Warped Tour,

going to Europe, etc.

Your album SPEAKER OF THE DEAD was really successful. How does it

feel that your work is so highly recognized?

It is such an amazing feeling of course to create music, record it, and tour

the world and have a huge responce. It gears me to work harder and reach

at the unreachable to say..

Which pressure was harder for you – to bring out an album which tops the

previous one or to bring out the first album and get recognized as a band?

Def the pressure of making more and more albums as time passes, the

human chemistry changes and the way you feel about things 3 years ago

might differ from how you feel now in the present. A good start is always

amazing, but consistency is key in life.

Do you already have ideas in mind for a new record?

Well i am personally always writing throughout the last 12 years of my

life. So its a natural thing to have to collect ideas and riffs and create an

album. No plans now just rockin hard loving Speaker Of the Dead, and

killing faces with it live!

If you wouldn’t play in a band, what would you do?

I work on cars, do some electric work, some this some of that. I stay busy.

So what are your most intense childhood memories?

Being a bad little pyro maniac (lighting everything on fire in sight).

I remember lots of pizza parties in italian places all over queens,

I remember getting the nike Jordan 3 shoes coming out and actually

getting them. I was 8 years old.

What was the silliest job you ever did?

I worked at Carvel ice cream for 6 hrs. One shift, than quit at the end

of the day.

From your point of view what are the highs and lows of your career?

Highs- make a carreer doing what you love, playing my guitar with my

band everynight, touring with amazing bands, many i listen to. Lows-

missing families and girlfriends and the days get slow when you only

“work” for 45 min a night, lots of waiting, and the industry takes twists

and turns so you have to be on top of your game.

If you could play on any album you want, which would it be?

I would die to play on a Deftones record. Anyone of them. Any new one.

Your song titles have a lot of comic book and videogame influences like

‘Children Of Cybertron’ (Transformers) or ‘Demons with Ryu’ (Streetfighter).

What are your all-time favourite super hero and villain?

Thats not a good one for me, i used to collect comics and marvel cards

when i was a lot younger but nowadays i don’t follow it too much.

Carnage is sick.

Which videogames do you play on tour and why?

I like racing games and Zelda. Sometimes some iphone games.

Suicide Silence definitely rocked the boat with their previous records THE

CLEANSING and NO TIME TO BLEED and people were quick to draw comparisons

to numerous other bands. High record sales figures and relentless touring, be it

for the genre discussions or the hype about vocalist Mitch Lucker. The third and

current album THE BLACK CROWN with its slight shift in genre is already causing a

divide among fans and critics alike.

From the beginning of your career until today, you‘ve split the metal and the

hardcore scene. Some find you too commercial and not brutal enough, or too

simple, others say your music is the heaviest stuff they‘ve ever heard. How do you

handle that?

Mark: „To be honest, I like the songs better, if I don‘t have to think much, about

how to handle this or that riff. Listen to the hit records, the best songs are catchy

and comprehensible. We don‘t want to be the band with the heaviest sound,

playing the most difficult riffs.“

Mitch:“ Exactly, I find it very important for the kids to understand my lyrics without

having to take the booklet and read along. Many bands have lyrics, that are simply

not comprehensible. I want to transport a message.“

THE BLACK CROWN has a very unique style. How did this come about?

Mark: „We always need a little longer to find a compromise on the sound of new

songs. Each of us has different musical influences, but that is also what defines our

own sound. I like to think that our records reflect the stuff we like.“

One definitely hears those influences. Is this why you decided on Jonathan Davis

and Frank Mullen as guest vocalists?

Mitch:“ The songs match the respective singer perfectly and it was a lot of fun to work

with those guys. As much as their bands are influential to us, we still want to sound like

nothing but us. During the writing and recording process, I don‘t listen to any other

music, just to be sure not to be influenced. We literally cut ourselves off. THE BLACK

CROWN is 100% Suicide Silence. With this album we want to put down a mark, saying:

This is us, this is our sound!“

As you already mentioned, THE BLACK CROWN represents you and the title and

cover artwork are filled with symbols. How did you come up with the idea for the

graphic direction?

Mitch: „Personally, I‘m not into all this symbolism. But THE BLACK CROWN has

many meanings. Each band has their defining records. The Deftones have WHITE

PONY, Metallica have their BLACK ALBUM and we have THE BLACK CROWN. Also

our hometown Corona, which is the Spanish word for crown, can be found in the

title.“

Mark: „Yeah, it was all a process, what we wanted was basically a cool cover that

stands out from the crowd. One might say we crowned ourselves with this one.“

You are one of these bands touring almost 24/7.

What does it mean to you to stay home and to be with your family?

Being gone for so long really lets us appreciate the time we have at home. We use that

time to take a break from music and focus on our friends, family and other obligations.

Everyone that is close to us is very supportive of our decision to make The Ghost Inside a

full time band and that helps us stay out for long periods of time.

Is touring a situation in which you can write new material?

For me, anytime I feel inspired to write I can just pull out a notepad and scribble my ideas

down. So I am always getting the chance to write no matter where I am. The music for

The Ghost Inside is another story. You have to dedicate a chunk of time and space to write

music. So for the rest of the guys it‘s a lot harder to work on new material.

Are you already working on a new record? If yes could you please tell something about it?

Yes, we are working on a new record. After this tour we are on currently, we‘re going to

finish up the album and record it. It should be completely done and recorded by the time

you are reading this. Maybe we‘ll even be playing a new song, who knows?

Does it help to write music and lyrics to handle your personal experiences?

I tend to write lyrics on personal experiences but try to make them very relatable to the rest

of the world. Each some to me has a personal and outward meaning and message behind it.

If I were you and vice versa which question would you love to hear and which question do

you never want to hear again?

The question “What is the meaning behind the name The Ghost Inside?” I hate that one

because we changed our name from an old band to TGI. It doesn‘t mean anything and it

was the only one we liked when we were trying to come up with names, haha.

What do you like more, being in the studio, write new music and record a new album or

being on the road and burn down stages worldwide?

Bring on the road 100%. I actually hate being in the studio. Being on tour I get to perform

and do what I love, meet tons of people and see the world. Being in the studio I‘m stuck in

a little room yelling at a microphone.

From your point of view what are the highs and lows of your career?

The high without a doubt is being able to travel to new places and parts of the world I

never in a million years thought I‘d be able to visit. We are very fortunate that we have had

the opportunity to play some of the countries we have. To be able to meet fans that barely

can speak the same language as me is something that I still am blown away by. The lows is

missing your friends and family constantly, and never getting enough sleep.

If you could turn back the time, what would you change on your albums and with your career?

I‘m pretty pleased with the direction our career has gone. Like I said before, we‘ve been

lucky enough to do a lot of cool things with this band. I always listen to our records though

and think “I could‘ve sang that part better” but that‘s never a regret for me. Just makes me

strive to do better on the next record.

What do you expect from the Eastpak Antidote Tour?

I expect a lot of fun with friends, some of the biggest shows we‘ve ever played and to

meet a lot of new people. We are looking forward to this tour very much. Thanks to

everyone coming out!

We complete your order based on our Terms and Conditions that are valid at the time of placing the order. § 2 Conclusion of contractYou can order on the Internet from us via our homepage www.impericon.com. The representation of the products show neither in our online shop nor in our printed catalogues an obliging offer for the purposes of §145 Civil Code. In the Shopping Cart you have the possibility to initiate the order process using the button “Proceed to Checkout”. After entering your personal data you will find a summary of your order at the final step of the order process. § 3 DeliveryWe deliver products in stock within 5 working days by DHL to the address given by you. Dispatch beyond the Federal Republic of Germany and within Europe the delivery, provided the product is available, can take approx. 10-14 working days. When shipping to the non-European foreign countries the delivery time is dependent on the dispatch type and the receiver‘s country. All delivery times or delivery periods are non-binding, they are based on an agreement. The preceding information about prospective dates of delivery or delivery timescales is non-binding, unless it has been expressly agreed between the consumer and us. In the case of an expressly agreed date of delivery if there is a delay in delivering the order you must allow us an extension of up to 2 weeks. Return ConsequencesIn case of an effective return, the services received reciprocally are to be guaranteed back and, as the case may be, use drawn by the beneficiary (e.g. functional advantages) is to be released. In case of item deterioration, value compensation might be demanded. This does not apply, if item deterioration only happened during examination -as it usually would happen in the shop. Please, use for the return dispatch of the product the packaging material which came from us, or pack the articles in such a way that they arrive in good condition with us. With the return of shoes please use another bag or box and not the shoe cardboard box as the sole outside packaging as the resale of a shoe with damaged box is not possible. In addition, we ask you not to remove the original tags and for hygienic reasons with Underwear and laundry not to remove any protective coverings. Also with nonobservance of the requests your right of return continues without limitation. Also pay particular attention to the completeness of your bank information. We are not held liable for any financial problems originating from you providing incorrect details.

§ 6 PricingAll shown prices are totals including the VAT. Postal and forwarding charges are added after the list in sec. 7.

§ 7 Delivery CostsHere you can find information concerning postal and forwarding charges.

a) within Germany:For each delivery we charge 3, 00 Euro for postage and 2, 00 Euro for packing. If you pay by cash on delivery you have to pay an additional cash on delivery charge amounting to 3, 00 Euro as well as 2, 00 Euro delivery charge (charged by DHL) besides the allowance of 5, 00 Euro. b) to Austria, Switzerland, BeNeLux, France, Danmark an UK:For each delivery to Austria, Switzerland, BeNeLux, France, Danmark and UK we charge 3, 00 Euro for postage and 2, 00 Euros for packing

c) to all other countries within Europe:To all other countries within Europe we charge 8, 00 Euro for postage and 2 ,00 Euro for packing.

d) all other countries:In all other countries we deliver to worldwide we charge an allowance of 20, 00 Euro.

§ 8 PaymentWe accept Payment via bank transfer, Paypal, and debit/credit card. If your residence is outside of Germany you only can pay by prepayment (depends on the possibilities in each country), credit card or PayPal. In Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and UK direct ebanking is also possible.

a) Payment via Prepayment:We send you an acknowledgement of your order via email. After receipt of payment at our bank account we will ship your items.
