“HANDOG SA MGA KABATAAN SA KANILANG PAGTATAPOS”

is a new program of the Department of Labor and Employment

(DOLE) which adopts a new strategy in providing employment

assistance to the 2008 graduates in the secondary and collegiate level.

This new strategy consolidates in one program package:

• the career advocacy/guidance and pre-employment counseling services

• the jobs fair component of the job search assistance services.

Handog derives from the traditional practice in the conduct of

job fair wherein jobs are offered to the applicants/jobseekers in

“smorgasboard” manner, i.e. all job vacancies are announced in

one venue. Under the new approach, a job fair by occupation will

be undertaken where companies needing similar skills

requirements for their job vacancies will be grouped and invited

schools which shall serve as venue for the job fair for a particular

occupation. Thus, with this approach, job search will be easier

and less costly for the graduates.
