Monday: Tai Shin Doh Self Defense (4-8): Tai Shin Doh is an integration of multiple styles of Eastern
Martial Arts whose primary premise is that “by studying the Way of the Warrior you learn the Way of
the Peacemaker.” This is a very active session requiring repetition of swift large muscle movements
to learn the principles of self- defense. THERE IS NO STRIKING OR THROWING AND STUDENTS WILL
LEARN TO FALL AND TUMBLE ON MATS!! Our teacher is 5th degree black belt David Jones whom is
widely acclaimed for having taught hundreds, if not thousands, of Heights residents through the
Recreation Center, local schools, and the Heights Youth Club. $50 for the 7 week session.
Tuesday: On Target Fencing! (4- 8:) With over 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Nagy
provides all protective equipment including foils, gloves, masks, jackets and chest guards. He runs a
“no nonsense” practice with zero tolerance of misbehavior. Fencers will learn basic footwork,
lunging, hitting with the point on the opponents target, right of way rules, defending with parry-
riposte and bouting. Fencing promotes self esteem, coordination, physical fitness, sportsmanship
and social etiquette." EN GARDE!! $50 for 7 week session (NOTE: NO class on Feb 14th)
Wednesday: Progress with Chess (4-8): Another perennial favorite returns to our school to teach
the kids! The students will be divided according to their experience such that they will be given the
opportunity to master the game at their own pace through direct instruction as well as game play.
$72 for the 8 week session
Thursday: Drama (4-8) Registration is separate.
Friday: YOGA Roots (4-8): Release the stress of the school week and focus your attention on
intention while gaining strength and flexibility. The instructor will allow the students to explore their
limitless potential as they have fun connecting the mind and body through exercise. Spirit. Energy.
