PRINCIPAL’S DESK Home Learning In past student reports there has been a section for teachers to report on studentshome learning. At a meeting recently, it was decided that home learning would be replaced with home reading. As there are different expectations at each year level with regards to home learning, teachers believed that by just focussing on studentsability to read and record home reading journals, we could cover the entire school. I still believe it is important for students to develop good study routines, including fitting in extra curricula and social activities. Another aspect of home routines that we need to develop in our students is their ability to occupy their own time. Free play and creativity are important for a students development. I am amazed how busy some students are after school. Their whole after school time is timetabled with activities. Athletics Achievement To make a School Sport Victoria State Athletics Championship is a huge achievement for any student. Last week, Sonny S, from Year 5, came 9 th in the discus and Harry C, from Year 6, came 4 th in the final of the 200m. Both boys were very humble when interviewed by Mr Davey at our assembly last Friday. Both boys have dedicated much of their time to practise for their respective events. Well done!
