    Congratulation again boys!

Bryan Palmer Shield Ten schools competed in two separate gala days to begin the Bryan Palmer Shield for Public Schools in the Western Region. With Parkes PS and Dubbo South PS winning their respective days, they took to the field at Victoria Park on a sunny Dubbo morning to determine the Western champion for 2011. With pace to burn out wide the Dubbo South boys ran in a number of tries to topple a courageous Parkes team. Dubbo South now plays Harbord from Sydney in the Quarter Finals.

    Congratulations to

    the boys hockey team

    who defeated Corowa

    Public School

    yesterday by 3-2 at

    Albury. The boys

    played extremely

    well, their team spirit

    was amazing and the

quality of play outstanding. Congratulations to Dalton Medcalf for

scoring all 3 goals. The boys will now progress to the finals day to

be held at Lithgow on 15th September.

Thank you to Tom Bowman who drove the bus to and from Albury, Doug Medcalf for coaching us to victory, Troy O’Leary, David Crowe, Jon Raidaveta for providing supervision throughout the stay. A big thank you to Orana Mutual for their kind donation towards the cost of this event and the PCYC for their support.

A battle of epic proportions is the only way to describe the girls’ touch game held in Gilgandra last Thursday. Gilgandra scored first goal starting what would be a see-sawing ledger for the remainder of the game. The teams went try for try making it 4-3 at halftime. The match continued in this vein during the second half and the score went back and forth until DSPS tied the match at 6-6 with three minutes left. Both teams had chances and nerves were showing but in the final twenty seconds a bold play from the girls resulted in Georgia Simmonds making a break down the blindside and ultimately scoring in the corner to deliver

a last gasp win for Dubbo South. All players are to be congratulated for the way they played and should be extremely proud of their efforts. The team will now move on to the Western semi-finals against either Middleton or Kandos in the next fortnight.

All Years 3-6 students will be involved in the Term 4 PSSA competition. There is no school based sport. The cost each week is $3 for the bus. Stage 3 students have already made their choices. Stage 2 will make their choices on Wednesday and Thursday. Choices are: Junior Girls Tee Ball, Junior Boys Tee Ball, Junior Boys Touch Football, Junior Girls Touch Football, Junior Boys Cricket, Junior Girls Cricket. We are restricted by the Dubbo PSSA as to how many teams we can field in each sport so children may not get their first choice.

Congratulations to all competitors for their individual performances at the District PSSA carnival last Tuesday. Of the 49 students who took part, 31 have progressed to the next stage, being the Western Area Carnival this Friday 2nd September. Our team performed brilliantly to take out the overall point score trophy and the averages trophy. This is outstanding given that our point score was divided by the number of students in Years 3-6. Being a large school this was substantial. We won all four relays on the day and our students won four of the six age championships. Special congratulations to Ethan Willetts (Junior Boys), Isaac Hogan (11 Years Boys), Majayda Darcy (11 Years Girls) and Georgia Simmonds (Senior Girls).

will be held on Friday 2nd September at Barden Park, Dubbo. Congratulations to Amy Halliwell, Ethan Willetts, Liam Duncan, Ava Medley, Craig Simpson, Grace Gilroy, Majayda Darcy, Georgia Simmonds, Keely Potter, Aliyah Ngatuakana, Izaiah Raidaveta, Ben Wheeler, Hayden Goodall, Matthew Dodd, Khailiah Fernando, Blake Merritt, Jonathon Gleeson, Lucy Gleeson, Alix Medley, Ben Duncan, Jayden Blake, Kobi Etcell, Lily Drash, Isaac Hogan, Jasmine Daley, Callum Astill, Namya Athauda, Emma Blake, Jayden Miller, Alex Couley and Will Grant. Students have received permission notes and events information. j

Congratulations to Georgia Cudmore, Holly Shields, Olivia Baker, Emily Blackett, Emily Cudmore, Matthew Heaslip, Hannah McNaught, Tom Shields, Samantha Bray, Holly Faulds, Zaland Yousafzai, Felicity Hedger, Angus Wood, Jackie Bayley, Georgia Benton-Bryant, Harriet Hedger, Ashlee Haywood, Hayden Goodall, Matt Halliwell, Kirrily Pearson, Miriam Pearson, Millie Wright and Harrison Howarth who completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge in the past week. The Challenge has now closed for 2011. Well done to all those students who saw the challenge through to the end (and to their very supportive parents!)

Perry Angel’s Suitcase by Glenda Millard

“I like Perry Angel’s Suitcase because each chapter has a new problem to be solved. My favourite character is Blue the dog, who can’t hear a single thing, and my favourite day is egg making day. One of the eggs is a magic carpet egg and it’s cool!”
