Acute coronary syndromes, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, cardiac arrhythmias and acute heart failure are major life-threatening conditions we cope with.

The aim of the ESC Working Group on Acute Cardiac Care is to advance the knowledge in these fields, to

provide training and education to physicians and other health professionals in acute cardiac care and to improve the outcome in patients admitted to ICCU’s.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the Acute Cardiac Care Congress 2012, which will be held in the beautiful city of Istanbul, on 20-22 October 2012. It is with pleasure and great honour that we invite you to participate in this vivid meeting.

The main theme of this edition is “Integrative approach and management of Acute Cardiovascular Diseases”. Encompassing comprehensive updates on different fields related to this theme focusing on diagnosis, therapies, systems and organisation for the best care, it addresses a wide-range of topics of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, life-threatening arrhythmias, as well as acute valvular diseases which will be presented and discussed by a distinguished international faculty.

An important part of the programme is composed of the original scientific contributions we receive during the call for abstracts (opening in February 2012). Selected abstracts will be presented in different formats allowing for peer review, discussions and knowledge exchange between scientists and practitioners from our community.

The Acute Cardiac Care Congress is a unique forum where physicians, nurses, paramedics, etc. meet to discuss the latest therapies and innovations, share experiences and exchange ideas on their daily practice.

Our aim is to provide a programme of great scientific value with more than 40 sessions - main symposia, how to sessions, abstract sessions and a new feature for 2012: practical cases presented within an interactive session format, where real life challenging cases will be demonstrated by experts, discussed with the audience and concluded by recommendations and take-home messages which delegates can implement in their daily practice.

The congress will therefore offer delegates a variety of high quality scientific sessions and industry supported educational sessions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition area and meet with industry to discover the most recent state of the art technology and devices.

We very much look forward to meeting you at the Acute Cardiac Care Congress 2012 in the fascinating and exotic city of Istanbul, famous for its historical monuments and magnificent scenic beauties; a city to make our event memorable.

Sincerely,

Prof. Christian Vrints, Prof. Bulent Gorenek,Chairperson ESC WG Scientific Programme Chairpersonon Acute Cardiac Care and Local Host

Welcome to Istanbul! Once known as Constantinople, Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey and 5th largest city in the world. Istanbul is a city rich with history and culture and was in fact chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2010.

It is a true bridge between Europe and Asia – a fantastic setting for Acute Cardiac Care 2012!

While there, don’t forget to visit the Ayasofya, a magnificent basilica and a wonderful architectural example of the Byzantine Empire.

Across from the Ayasofya you will find the majestic Blue Mosque with its serene courtyard and beautiful blue tiles.
