Contact DetailsThe Registrant shall provide to Registrar accurate

and reliable contact details and promptly correct and update them

during the term of the Registered Name, including:

the full name, postal address, email address, voice telephone

number, and fax number if available of the Registrant;

Inaccurate Information: A Registrants willful or negligent provision

of inaccurate, false or unreliable information, constitute a material

breach of the Registrants Registration Agreement with the Registrar

and be a basis for cancellation of the Registered Name

No illegal/ obscene Content:The Registrant undertakes that it shall

not register a domain name which is contrary to public policy and thatthe Content of the website shall not be violative of any Indian Laws.

Fees and Payment: Payment of any fees due, for which the

Registrant is solely liable, must be made with the Registry via Registrar

Term, Renewal of the Domain Name Registration:

The Registry is under no obligation to inform the Registrant

in advance, when the Term of a domain name registration

is about to expire. Registrant is fully responsible for

ensuring that renewal is done well in time.

Suspension/ Cancellation of Domain Names: The

.IN Registry shall be entitled to immediately suspend or

cancel the Domain Name Registration, when the Registrant

is in breach of the Terms and Conditions .

General Registration

Policies

Term: domain names may be registered for a minimum of one (1) year,

and a maximum of ten (10)years.

Auto renewal: Domains automatically renew at the end of their term(the expiration date).

Domain length: .IN domain names may be between 3 and 63 characters

in length.

Allowable characters: Only letters, digits, and hyphens will be

accepted in a domain name. Names cannot begin or end with hyphens.

Contact information: Registrants must provide true, accurate contact information. The

following contact types are required: Registrant, Administrative, Technical, Billing.

Grace periods: certain grace periods exist to allow for the cancellation of transactions

by registrars within certain time periods. Please contact your registrar for details.

Name servers: to register a .IN domain, the registrant does not need to provide nameservers. In order to appear in the zone file and resolve on the Internet, at least one (1)

valid IPv4 or IPv6 name server must be associated with the domain name.

Transfers:

For names in the unrestricted zones mentioned above registrants

are allowed to transfer their domains to the registrar of their

choice. Registrants should contact their registrar of choice to

learn about transfer procedures. Registrar-to-registrar transfers

are not allowed in the 60 days following the creation of a domain

name. A registrar-to-registrar transfer adds one year to the term

of the domain name, charged to the gaining registrar. Registrars

may therefore charge the registrant for the domain year.

Internationalizeddomain names (IDNs):

The registry plans to accept IDN registrations in the future,

including IDN registrations in Hindi, Tamil, and other Indian

languages. Until further announcements, no applications for

domain names in internationalized script (includingdiacritical marks) shall be accepted. Domains with hyphens

in the third and fourth positions will be rejected.

The registry has the authority to deny or suspend a

registration if it conflicts with the sovereign national interest

or public order.

The Registry Operator reserves the right the adjust the

allocated bandwidth and connections alloted to the

Domain Life Cycle

Sunrise PolicyOwners of registered Indian trademarks or service marks who wish to

protect their marks will be given the opportunity to apply for .IN domain

names before the general public. The Sunrise will give preference to

Indian citizens and companies over entities from abroad. Applications

must be submitted through an accredited registrar.

The Sunrise rules require that the copy of the trademark certificate and

the Sunrise affidavit form be notarized "by a notary, magistrate, oath

commissioner, gazetted officer, or other party authorized by thecompetent authority

Process

The registry has published the .IN Dispute Resolution Policy (INDRP). It

has been formulated in line with internationally accepted guidelines, and

with the relevant provisions of the Indian IT Act 2000. There are two

documents that all parties in a dispute should read carefully:

The .IN Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (INDRP). This document

explains what types of disputes can be brought, and the criteria that will

be considered by the arbitrators.

The INDRP Rules of Procedure. These Rules describe how to file a

complaint, how to respond to a complaint, the fees, communications, and

the other procedures that will be used.

C-DAC Closure

As of 23 January, 2006, C-DAC no longer has

responsibility for managing any .IN domain names. C-

DAC's registrants were asked to transfer their names tonew registrars of their choice (see below). Names that

were not transferred by the deadline were divided up

and transferred to .IN registrars who expressed interest.
