We have really high expectations of your school work and our IGS marking guide is there to help you improve and do your Personal Best. We expect your written work to follow these basic rules:
· Always have an underlined title and the date. · Use a blue or black pen. · Pencil and ruler are used for tables, graphs and diagrams. · Questions are answered in full sentences unless the teacher specifically tells you not to do so. · Marking is read through and all corrections are made, using your green pen. · Spelling mistakes are corrected using your green pen and practised in the back of your book, or
by using a spelling app on your iPad. · Make sure that you carefully organise written work completed on the iPad and that you ensure
you respond to the next steps feedback given by your teacher. · Please note in your exercise book when work has been completed on the iPad e.g. see iPad for
my work on…
Make sure you know what your teacher means when they mark your work:

Well done to Sophie Dale (10LV) who has secured a place in the Northern England Hockey Squad.
In the half term holidays, Sophie will travel to a High Performance Assessment Camp (HiPAC), a residential three-day camp which forms part of the Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) Tier 2 activity. The camps are held annually and are for players in the U15 and U17 age group who have been selected for squads from JRPC Tier 1 activity. These squads are called the Saxon Tigers, the Pennine Pumas, the Wessex Leopards and the Mercia Lynx.
The HiPAC aims to give players in the U15 and U17 age groups first-hand experience of an international training camp environment, in preparation for potential future involvement in a National Age Group Squad (NAGS).
Sophie joins fellow squad member Nisha Cant (10JK) who will compete in the England Hockey Futures Cup (EHFC) representing the Pennine Pumas, with players from Manchester, Durham and Leeds. The EHFC is a competition which forms part of Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) Tier 2 activity and is for players in the U16 and U18 age groups, who are selected for squads from JRPC Tier 1 activity.
Good luck girls!

Congratulations to climber Emma Powell (10JPC) whose winter competition season started well last week at the King Kong Climbing Centre in Keswick. Emma finished in first place in her category. This was a great result for Emma who is only just getting back to full climbing fitness. The next competition is in Glasgow on 24th October and is part of the Scottish tooling series .
From the left to right: Emma Whitaker-Pitts, Orla Waterton and Nell Barker far right.
Well done to Emma Whitaker-Pitts (8MH), Orla Waterton (8RRG), and Nell Barker (8LNR), all dancers with the WTA Dance Academy in Ilkley, who took part in the Ilkley Art Trail at the weekend. The girls worked with local artist Lucia Smith and choreographed their own dance interpretation of her work ‘Evening Choreography in Wharfedale’.
Well done to Eleanor Morris (11LO) who has won first prize in the Ilkley Literature Festival’s Young Peoples’ Poetry Competition in the Year 12/13 category. Although Eleanor is in Year 11 the maturity of her work meant that her poem was set alongside work from sixth form students and judged to be the winner by the Festival’s Poet in Residence.
Eleanor and her family have been invited to read her poem, Astrologer, and receive her prize at the Festival’s Special Words Club Night on Friday 16th October at the Otley Courthouse Arts Centre, where a number of young people will be reading their work.
