The most common criticism of language courses is that students speak their own language with friends when not in class. This weakness is completely eliminated with Home Language International because we do not allow contact between students of the same nationality.

▶ Our staff are on duty on Saturdays and Sundays to deal with any travel issues.

▶ Home Language International is a family-run business. Ian and Danielle with their 5 adult children and the rest of the staff at the reservations office, all put in very long hours to make sure that everything is perfect.

Adults & ProfessionalsThere is no longer any need for adults and professionals to feel embarrassed in a large class of differing ages and abilities. We also offer a BUSINESS AND SPECIALISED VOCABULARY option. Some of our teachers have specialist knowledge of subjects such as medicine, law, marketing, engineering, banking etc. They are able to offer specialised courses using the vocabulary and their knowledge of these subjects on request.

Children & TeenagersStudents cannot hide at the back of the class or miss lessons because they live and study in their teacher’s home. Adolescents from a sheltered background can easily be supervised by the teacher according to their parents’ wishes and the same applies to even very young children.For children who are scared of leaving home for the first time we offer the option of sharing lessons & accommodation with one of their friends or a family member.

Students with a disabilityWe have many families and teachers worldwide who are able to host students with disabili-ties or learning difficulties providing we are notified well in advance of the exact nature of the disability of the student. Please contact us for more information.

Local organisersOur teachers are only one facet of the Home Language International service; every area is su-pervised by a resident Local Organiser whose job it is to monitor the progress of each student and to make sure their experience with us is both happy and successful. A phone call to our Local Organiser brings an immediate response and expert help and advice is given readily for even the smallest problem.

Home Language International is completely different from any other language experience. You live and study in your teacher’s house so there is no travelling to and from school every day. You will not be led page by page through a textbook but be given an experience in living the language you are studying. You will learn it as you learn your own language and at your own speed. Your teacher is concerned only with your individual requirements and not those of other students because you will be the only student.

You can choose the dates which suit you as we operate all year round. Even at ‘peak period’ you will not be surrounded by other students (unless you prefer our two student formula).

Our teaching material has been especially written for our unique system by D. McLeod, R.S.A. Dip Tefl, an expert with 30 years’ experience in teaching English as a foreign language.

More than 1,000 friendly teachers worldwideAll of our teachers have either a recognised teaching certificate or a University degree (or equivalent).

All teachers have been carefully visited by one of our Local Organisers which means that the qualifications have been verified and the teachers’ homes have been tho-roughly inspected.

Choose a programme according to your needs and your wishes:

StandardYou can choose 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours teaching per week and stay for as many weeks as you like. Mealtime conversation, visits, television and social contacts are all in the language you are studying. Living with your teacher means that you will be guided and corrected not only during the lessons but at all times when the teacher and student are together.

ActivitiesWe offer courses combining lessons with sport, culture and leisure activities, and special farmstay, enchanted & adventure programmes. Details are to be found in our current price list.

Accommodation without lessonsWe can offer accommodation without lessons with host families whodo not offer formal lessons but are always pleased to converse with their guests.

Five star coursesSpeak to your business associates in their own language and you will gain their immediate respect. Until now the senior executive has hesi-tated before travelling abroad to learn a language because the average family accepting “students” in their home does not live at the standard to which an executive is accustomed. The alternative is to stay in an expensive luxury hotel which can, however, be impersonal and offer little or no contact with local people. We have therefore selected some very special families whose standard of living is much superior to the average and who also have exceptional qualifications.The option is also available for VIP juniors!
