Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary, Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

Feast of Faith Series: Our Creed: Who We Are and What We Are About ~ We invite eve-ryone who would like to explore our Catholic Faith more deeply to come and reflect on the Creed throughout this coming year. The next of the five sessions— “The First Person of the Blessed Trinity: “I believe in one God” takes place this Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7:30PM. Save the dates for future sessions on Jan 23, Apr 17 and May 22 - all Tuesdays at 7:30.

An Afternoon with Jesus on the Feast of Christ-King. EUCHARISTIC ADORA-TION on Sunday, November 20. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after the Noon Mass. Quiet Prayer. At 4PM Solemn Vespers will be prayed concluding with benediction. Please join fel-low parishioners and friends to honor Jesus Christ the King.

BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH!

FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

Last week, some of our young people accompanied Fr. Chris to an informational evening about the next World Youth Day with our Holy Father that will take place in Panama in January 2019. While I am not going, I am very excited for those who will be traveling on this special pilgrimage. Since I arrived at Incarnation it has been my desire to give our young people a chance to be exposed to the Church Universal that gathers for these meetings as well as a opportunity to encounter our Holy Father, the Successor of St. Peter. It’s taken so long to get a group to go because we needed a sizeable and stable youth group to be the core of those who will be going on the pilgrimage. I am happy that we now have about 15-20 young people from 7th through 12th grade that meet most Sundays at 2PM in the OLPH Meeting Room. It’s no secret. All our young people are invited to spend time together; going on trips and working on certain initiatives to enhance parish and community life. While I’m not going and most of the parish will remain in Bellaire, that does not mean we cannot share in the preparations and excitement as our young people look to Panama with the pope! Certainly, they will need our help as they fundraise to bring down the cost of the trip for each individual going. But I am also going to challenge them to share with us at Mass on some Sundays how they are preparing to visit with hundreds of thousands of their peers from throughout the world and pray with the pope. Upon their return I am also going to ask them to share with us their experience in Panama and figure out what’s next for them in the life of our parish here. We send them so that they will come back. Father Chris has explicit orders not to let any of the kids stay in Panama, and so, when they return what will these rejuvenated youngsters be able to offer the community now that they have been touched by this special experience. I hope all of Incarnation will catch the excitement as we look with our young to Panama and the pope. If you are between 16 and 30 and would like to join the pilgrimage please contact Father Chris. God Bless!

THANKSGIVING LITURGY will take place Thursday, November 23 at 9:30AM. Let us come together as a parish family and give thanks for God’s bounty shared among all of us. Each fam-ily is asked to bring one food item

to be blessed and returned to your table at home. Each family will receive a decorative placemat containing prayers to be offered before the Thanksgiving meal. Come join us in our greatest expression of Thanksgiving, the Eucharist.

Mustard Seed Ministry has begun at the 10:30 Mass. At the end of the Opening Prayer children from ages four to seven will be invited to the lower church to hear the reading(s) in a spe-cial way by a trained catechist. This may include storytelling, creating a simple craft, singing a song, etc. At the end of the Prayer of the Faithful of the Mass the children will return and sit back with their parents and families. For more information see Mrs. Fouche after Mass or call the Rel Ed Office.

Choir rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:30PM in the choir loft of the church. Stop by and see. Stop by and sing! No prior choral singing experience needed. For further infor-mation contact Mr. Townsend at 718-465-8534.

PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS TO THE PRIESTHOOD. Over the next ten months you will be in-vited to pray at home

for more priests. We invite individual parishioners & fami-lies to sign up to receive a beautiful Good Shepherd statue into their home for one or two weeks and to pray for priestly vocations. A prayer kit & activity sheets about vocations will be also given to help you through your prayer week. At the end of the week, on Saturdays, we ask you to return the Good Shepherd Statue to the Parish Of-fice so that it may be handed over to another parishioner and/or family on Sunday. You may keep the activity sheets for further prayer and reflection. Please consider signing up for our Prayer Campaign for Priestly Vocations. Simply fill in the form below and return it to the Parish Office or in the collection as soon as possible. Father Chris, Father O’Connor or a member of the Vocations Committee, will contact you soon afterwards about all the details.

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle

stands now hang in our church on either side of the newly restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illu-mination to insure your Living Light burns brightly throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle. Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. The Shepherd Speaks

The mysterious bond between the creation of the world and the generation of God’s Son is revealed by his taking flesh in the womb of Mary – Mother of Jesus and Mother of God – out of love for us. This mysterious bond never fails to amaze and move us; its revelation fully illumines the mystery of being and the meaning of life. Henceforth, the mystery of human generation radiates a

profound wisdom about life. Received as a gift, life is itself exalted. Generating life re-generates us; by giving of our lives, we are enriched. - Address to Pont Academy for Life 5 October 2017

CHRISTIAN INITIATION. Do you know a family member or friend who is interested in becoming a Catholic? The Rite of Chris-tian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a wonder-ful process in our parish available to those who feel called to the Catholic Faith. New inquiry sessions have begun. The RCIA is also available for those Catholics who have not yet re-ceived First Eucharist or Confirmation. Call the Rel Ed Office (718-465-8534) for more info.

MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY. Those who are inter-ested in the Ministry of Hospitality to welcome visitors and parishioners to our doors at Sunday Mass are asked to contact Father O’Connor for more information. This min-istry is a result of the Parish Assembly and parishioners’ desire to make Incarnation a more welcoming place.

Gracious God and Father, we enter into your presence realizing you know us better than we know our-selves. You know the cares and sufferings we carry in our hearts. You call us to holiness and we trust you to lead us together on our journey to be a renewed Church, for with you all things are possible. Create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son. Liberate us from all that keeps us from you. Heal us from every form of sin and violence. Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Awaken us to the sacred; rebuild trust among us. Enliven our parishes; reunite our fami-lies. May your Holy Spirit empower us to live as a community of love, freed to share in your work of recreating our world and restoring jus-tice. We believe you are doing something new, calling us to arise to-gether in Christ to celebrate the fullness of life. Amen.
