The Heartbeat of Payson, AZ >>>
Did you know >>>
Gathering with family, neighbors and friends for the July festivities is the quintessential experience for most Americans. And although we celebrate our nation’s freedom, while recognizing individualism, we are a community… A brotherhood and sisterhood of common minds, strong backgrounds and unique strengths. We are bound by a core belief that democracy is alive. We believe our community is passionate for our nation and compassionate for each other. Our values are built on experience, tolerance and love. All of us at Majestic Rim share our thanks…
Thanks for the laughs, Thanks for the memories, Thanks for the friendships, Thanks for defending our amazing nation, Thanks for being honest, helpful, loving and generous.
May you be blessed each day with the riches of this great country and enjoy your 4th of July celebration.
Have a fun and safe 4th of July,
Your friends at Majestic Rim Retirement Living
That “Seena” Ritchie has lived at Majestic Rim for more than six years. Seena is posed by her drawing of her husband, Fred. From an early age of three,
Guided by goodness, loyalty, faith, and fun
Seena learned to draw from her father. “He was my first teacher,” she recalled. She reflects on her own artwork throughout her apartment. Oils and watercolors adorn her walls like a studio. Fred had a passion for painting as well and the two of them took classes and shared an art studio in their Payson home. “The experience was wonderful,” she added. To many she is nicknamed “Lucky.” Whether it’s going to the casino or seeing Chris Isaak this month, she’s more than lucky, she’s a beautiful friend.

Mickey Mouse Debut Steamboat Willie - 1928
As we come together as a nation to celebrate America’s Independence, do you stop to think about the first sparkler ever invented? Call me crazy or simply an inquiring mind, but here are noteworthy statistics that I found rather interesting.
Over 200 million pounds of fireworks are lit on the 4th of July. That is four times the weight of the USS Intrepid located in New York.
So, what does that calculate in dollars? Try $695 million! That is more than some states budget for education.
Let’s talk energy. Of the 200 million pounds of fireworks sold, approximately 110 pounds consists of black powder. This explosive material not only creates the energy to catapult the object into the air, but combust into the bright colors and designs that light the dark sky. Mike Hiskey, Ph.D., explosive chemist noted that 110 pounds of black power contains 140 terajoules of energy. In English, nearly four times the energy to power 1000 homes for a year. And lastly,
Sparklers have been around since 670 AD. Creator: Callinicos.

incorporate sound and music into animated film production. The production budget of Steamboat Willie was just under $5,000. Walt Disney recorded all the voices (sounds) himself. Walt contracted with the Green Brothers Novelty Band for the soundtrack and was conducted by Carl Eduarde. The total running time for the film was under eight minutes. Uniquely enough, Mickey and Minnie appeared in earlier test screenings of Plane Crazy and The Gallopin’ Gaucho. However, Minnie was never introduced as Mickey’s girlfriend until 1929. Steamboat Willie was inducted into the National Film Registry in 1998. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steamboat_Willie
