CLASS RATINGS & CLASSIFICATIONS

Step 1 - Preparation Ensure the class of product suits the traffic application. Prepare internal boxing so it is internal to the frame. Clear opening of the pit must not be larger than the frame open-ing. Step 2 - Position cover in frame Covers and frames are unique and must not be interchanged.

Clean all cover and frame matching surfaces to ensure

they are free of dirt.

Cover and frame edges must be level.

Ensure frame is flat and level with the finished surface

level required.

Ensure frame is in square around the cover and that the

cover dose not rock.

Installation guide Class Rated Lids

Step 3 - Pour Concrete Concrete must FULLY support the frame all the way to the inside edge of the frame.

Concrete must be of at least 32mpa.

Ensure all concrete is free of voids.

Ensure that concrete is vibrated, particularly under the frame and

that concrete both under the frame and inside the frame structure reaches the same Mpa as the base concrete.

Screened off excess concrete to a neat finish.

Allow to cure before attempting to remove cover as early movement

may distort the frame. Step 4 - Strip & Seal

After curing period, remove cover.

Ensure concrete fully supports the frame and is free from all voids.

Clean and apply heavy grease to all mating surfaces before returning

Features

iDS™ Polymer Concrete is a tried and tested material

that is strong and robust; a key element for specification

where needed.

iDS™ Polymer Concrete is an inert product, it is not

readily reactive with other elements and is resistant to

chemical and organic matter attack.

A major strength of iDS™ Polymer Concrete is zero wa-

ter absorption. This means no ingress of water is guar-

anteed in these systems. Polymer Concrete’s heat resis-

tancy is high, up to 70ºC (resin HDT). Use in extreme

temperature conditions has no detrimental effects to

Polymer Concrete pits

Polymer Concrete pits can be cut using the appropriate

cutting tools including diamond core drills and or ma-

sonry drills or grinders (It is advisable to risk assess this

operation to ensure staff are adequately trained ensuring

adequate ventilation is available and safety equipment

worn at all times).

Polymer Concrete is an excellent insulator. This means it

will not conduct electricity, and therefore, is an ideal

material to specify in installations where electrification

may exist.

iDS™ Polymer Concrete is a versatile pit material proving

longevity in a range of different conditions. Once installed,

Polymer Concrete is extremely robust with a compressive

strength higher than traditional concrete. Polymer provides a

chemically resistant solution with excellent thermal properties.

Installation

When installing an iDS™ Polymer Concrete pit the following should

be taken into consideration:

1. Cover type.

2. Pit/duct type and size.

3. A minimum grade of 25MPa correctly sized concrete bed

and surround.

Polymer Concrete pits installed in trafficable areas must conform to

the minimum cement concrete dimensions as specified by iDS™ -

please contact GVK for details.

Engineering advice should be requested for certain applications. All

installations should conform to accepted building standards. In

trafficable areas the surface of the cement or concrete surround or

pavement if asphalted to the edge of the pit must be finished 3mm

above the pit/cover edge.

PLEASE NOTE: For flexible pavement applications involving the

installation of an access cover, a temporary base haunch should be

provided to protect the exposed edge frame from construction

traffic.
