The SOLGM Annual Summit and Industry Networking is the annual gathering of local government professionals and decision makers, industry partners who deliver services to local government and central government officials who work closely with the sector. This is the refreshed version of our previously successful SOLGM Annual Conference and is being developed to be more practical, accessible and inclusive to all of those who work in and with the local government sector.
Council delegates are primarily Chief Executives, senior managers and emerging managers from all different local authorities across New Zealand. They attend this annual event to discuss issues of national significance, to explore emerging trends and how they apply in practice and to network with peers, colleagues and industry partners.
ABOUT SOLGM
SOLGM is the national organisation that supports and develops local government professionals by providing access to training, advice and resources. As a membership organisation, SOLGM has over 500 members, primarily senior managers, including Chief Executives, in local government.
We have a stable of training services for our members and for the wider local government sector which supports building capability of staff and managers.
SOLGM is the voice of managers and staff. We understand the importance of providing leadership and guidance on the role of good local government management.

Managing the GapTheme of the SOLGM Annual Summit 2013
It is a time of change for local government - a theme that seems to be recurring every year. But this year, it is probably more complex than ever. Local government professionals have more questions than answers and most likely are still grappling with the changes of the new legislation, along with other things such as preparing for the upcoming elections, finding ways to address workforce issues and delivering services for less.
The programme will focus on: • Enhancing management capability and leadership• Understanding workforce issues and emerging trends• Identifying future scenarios for local government• Sharing knowledge• Creating professional networks

Here is what a few of the past conference exhibitors and sponsors say about their experience:
As an exhibitor, I found this the best opportunity to meet the decision makers of the councils.
A really good event for sponsor/industry partner
Great networking opportunity, good attendance.
The conference afforded us an excellent opportunity to engage with our target market and to present to them the unique nature of our company, our team, our service and our products.
Our team found the SOLGM conference very friendly, the networking zone worked really well and the SOLGM staff were all very helpful.
Well done to the whole SOLGM team for an excellent showcase.
We are satisfied that the conference helped us with developing our relationships with local government managers.

Why sponsor the SOLGM Annual Summit and exhibit at the Industry Networking Zone?• Captive audience – provides an ideal opportunity to communicate with Local Government decision makers in one venue.• Brand exposure and visibility – your brand will be promoted to Local Government managers before, during and after the conference.• Gain insights into the Local Government sector – increase your knowledge and understanding of Local Government and its different issues.• Build new business relationships and sustain current ones.• Demonstrate your capabilities.
Raising your profile in the local government sector
As a sponsor of the SOLGM Annual Summit you have the unique opportunity to showcase your company and increase the level of awareness about your products and services to key decision makers in local government. Instead of traveling throughout New Zealand to meet Chief Executives and senior managers in the different local authorities, make the most of the sponsorship and networking activities that we offer to industry partners.
Your company will also be featured in SOLGM communication and marketing activities that not only reaches the Annual Summit delegates, but the general audience of SOLGM -- that is more than five hundred local government professionals and a few hundreds more of individuals who have interest in SOLGM activities.
Five musts to get the most out of your sponsorship:
SPREAD THE WORD. Promote your association with the SOLGM Annual Summit to your local government customers or potential customers
1 SIGN UP EARLY. Register and pay your deposit on time and get brand exposure to the SOLGM network and to those visiting the website as soon as possible
2
PLAN. Formulate a marketing strategy to identify ways to make your brand stand out. Think engaging, relevant and memorable. Plan your client meetings during the networking breaks, especially if you have a space in the Industry Networking Zone.
3
ENGAGE. Make sure that you have the right people representing your company at the event. They have the knack of networking without being too overwhelming.
4
PARTICIPATE. You are there anyway, so why not attend the sessions and learn more about the business of local government. These sessions are open to sponsors & exhibitors.

The Industry Networking Zone is our version of a trade expo. The Industry Networking Zone is set up to have a more welcoming and inviting atmosphere for conversations among delegates and exhibitors to take place.
The walls between spaces are waist level to allow even neighbors to interact and engage with one another. There is only one centre panel that serves as a back wall which can be printed with your own design (if you choose that option). The walls are white to complement the look and feel of the space.
To make the space work for you, think of ways to stand out from the crowd, activities that will draw people to your space, and make sure you have the right representatives to engage with delegates.
Every exhibitor in the Industry Networking Zone will receive the following benefits:
• Your profile on the Annual Summit smartphone application which will be free to download for all delegates with iPhone or Android phones
• Your profile on social media vehicles used to promote the Annual Summit • Your logo and short company profile on the Exhibitors Page on the Annual
