These are the activities provided by the Children’s Centre (or by our partners) that are open to all our families with children aged 0-5. In addition, we host or run some groups or activities that are only open to some families, or which need an

appointment to attend. These do not appear on the calendar, so don’t worry if you are coming to an appointment that isn’t showing! We reserve the right to change the programme at short notice and recommend you check before attending.

Many of the courses we run at the Children’s Centre are free and although some activities have a suggested donation these are not intended to prohibit families from attending. Fees may be charged for the services we provide for other

professionals and for courses and activities run by external companies.

Using the Centre…

To make sure that everyone who attends our sessions have a good time and is kept safe, we are asking all parents and carers to remember...

to sign in and out of the session.

that you are responsible for the supervision of your child at all times.

to encourage your child to take care of the toys and equipment.

to take your child home if they are unwell.

to keep the room tidy, and to tidy up with your children.

to use appropriate language, and not to shout.

to stay inside the session and not leave the Children’s Centre site.

The Parenting Puzzle is a 10-week course, presented in a friendly, informal way which encourages parents and carers to enjoy bringing up

children and get the best out of family life.

The course can help us to understand how emotions influence our actions, and offers many positive, practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle both their feelings and their behaviour. It suggests ways of helping us feel good - boosting self-esteem in ourselves and in

our children and has activities for parents to take part in.

It’s open to parents and carers of all ages and only costs £2 per week (although you can pay it all in advance if you wish) which covers the

cost of your book and refreshments.

There will also be a free crèche available.

Start date: Tuesday 15th January 2013 Time: 9.30am- 11.30am

Venue: The Red Oak Sure Start Children’s Centre

For more information, or to book your place on the course, please call us on 01737 645908 or email [email protected]
