I. General Information
Location – Landlocked, Northeast Asia, border with China (4,763 km) and Russian Federation (3,441 km).
Area --1.565 million sq.km ( 1.7 person / 1 sq.km)
Capital --Ulaanbaatar (population: 0.8 million)
Population --2.4 million (growth rate 0.8%),
Literacy – 93.4 % per whole inhabitants
Mongolia is rich in mineral resources. Coal, iron, copper, fluorspar, gold, uranium and silver are being mined and exploited.

The average altitude of the country is l.580 metres above sea level:
90% of Mongolia is pasture, desert and mountains.
l0% of the land is covered by forests.
Mongolia has a sharply continental climate :
In winter -5 and -22 F (-15 and -30 C). Winters are long and dry.
In summer +50 and +80 F (+10 and +30 C).
I. General Information
POLITICAL SYSTEMMongolia is a unitary state.
The highest organ of State power is the STATE GREAT HURAL (PARLIAMENT), it is unicameral and consists of 76 members which is elected by the citizens for a term of four years.
The President is the Head of State. The President has the rights to veto laws and resolutions of the Parliament and renders support to various organisations exercising the legislative, executive and judicial powers in cooperation with each other.
Government is the highest executive body of State. In respect of its composition the Government comprises the Prime Minister and 12 members.

NEW CHALLENGE’S
MONGOLIAN GOVERNMENT POLICY FOR THE BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE
Mongolia has been seeking the solution to the digital divide focusing on 5 fields:
• inprove the institutional capacity building of ICT policy and regulation,
• the human resources development,• outsoursing• the ICT infrastructure building in rural area, and• became one of the participant to develop Information
Infrastructure to the “Asia Broadband program”.
BECAME ONE OF THE PARTICIPANT TO DEVELOP INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE TO THE “ ASIA BROADBAND
PROGRAM” BY FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS.
• Promotion of broadband Infrastructure in Mongolia hormanizing regional Infrastructure development.
• Promotion of use of broadband– E-Government– E-learning– E-Health and other IT anabled applications
• Development of local language contents• Promotion of human capicity building
