INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

The Santa Fe College Information Technology Education (ITE) program has industry-recognized certifications that can qualify you for a good job in a short period of time. Our two-year associate degrees prepare you for computer programming, network administration, computer support, and other technical jobs. Our college credit certificate programs allow you to add new skills to retool or expand your career choices. After earning your A.S. degree from Santa Fe College, you may transfer to a four-year college or university to work toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science.

Vocational certificate (Vc)

The Vocational Certificate (VC) is a program of instruction consisting of postsecondary adult vocational courses to prepare students for entry into employment. The VC does not require 60 credit hours of college course work. However, students must meet specific basic skills requirements in English, mathematics, and writing. The VC certificate typically takes 6 months to 2 years to complete.

associate of science (a.s.)

The A.S. degree program is designed to get you ready for a career, but in some cases such as nursing, may transfer to a bachelor’s program. A.S. programs are a good balance of general education coursework and hands-on training with the end goal of preparing you to enter the workforce with a competitive skill set.

Network SyStemS techNology

associate of science Degree (a.s.)Santa Fe College’s Network Systems Technology (NST) program is designed to prepare you for a career in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, or Database and E-commerce Security. As a network administrator, you will design, install and support an organization’s computer systems. Network infrastructure technicians configure, operate and troubleshoot computer networks. If you choose to specialize in cybersecurity, you may find yourself planning, maintaining and coordinating an organization’s information security. Or, you might gather data and evidence to be used in prosecuting cybercrime, working in digital forensics.

In the NST program, you will work with other students in a collaborative environment using a combination of advanced virtual training and hands-on lab-based training. Virtual training allows you to gain skills through repetition in a safe and secure sandbox environment. (No need to worry about making mistakes because it is easy to reset and try again!) Hands-on labs allow you to use skills gained in the virtual environment to implement and develop real-world solutions. You can also obtain a Vocational Certificate while completing your A.S. Degree.
