CHURCH NEWS
Although the rain had stopped, it was too wet on the
lawn, so our "traditional" post PNO Hymn Sing took place
in Lac Marois Union Church. The crowd, small but
enthusiastic, enjoying singing (with Gillian Wheeler at the
piano) and story-telling - Peter Carpenter to his two boys,
and Mary Johnson, whose rendition of the Good
Cetacean/Good Samaritan parable reminded us all that
it can be harder to love those close to us than the
stranger.
Next Sunday the service returns to the usual 10:30 hour, with the choir meeting at 9:15. Our guest
minister is the Rev. Darryl MacDonald of Roxboro United Church. See you there!
David Sinclair

Dear Membership,
What a night PNO was!
Stephanie.
Rick.
Pascal.
Seriously? I challenge anyone to find a community like ours, that throws an event like this year after year, and then top it with our very own members who can rock a stage the way these three did Saturday night. Stéphanie, Rick, Pascal, and the rest of the band who honestly did not stop smiling from the first note to the last, put on a mega-energy show that had over 100 friends, old and new, dancing until the wee hours. I was standing at the rear of the crowded dance floor, when what my father would affectionately call “a moment” struck - when the specialness of what is about you stops you in your tracks - a reminder to take a pause to simply appreciate…and yes, this was before the Jamison shooters came around! Again, congratulations Mike and Maeve - another PNO for the books!
Last week the Teen Club did their first round of collections for bottles and cans.
Saturday and Sunday, all day, in the pouring rain, 5 of our staff and soon-to-be staff, took the Community Sailing Instructor course offered by the Federation de la Voile de Québec. The Commodore, Chris Wayland, and I, can confidently say that we feel the sailing program has turned ship and is in a good place with strength, interest and talent bringing us into the next few years. We encourage everyone to get out and sail, to go out with your kids to sail on the weekends, and to participate in the sailing races. All of these will do nothing but strengthen the future of what we believe is a special part of our programming here at LMCC.
While the rain may have been ok for sailing, it did not help the mixed doubles tournament much! Some games were able to get played on Sunday but look for the tournament to continue throughout the week.
See you on the staring dock, your Prez,
Tara Marsh
DIRECTOR’S LETTER
Hello Marois!
We are lucky to have had another great week under our belts! I’m very proud of the hard work and
enthusiasm that the staff has demonstrated this session in planning and teaching their lessons.
Also, an extra thank you goes to the staff who did the PNO sleepover.
Marois will be hosting Bi-lake on Wednesday July 20th. If you would like to help out with the events of
the meet, please contact me. Remember that if our parking lot is full, don’t park on the streets or you
will be ticketed. Bi-lake is a really fun event and even if you don’t have family members participating,
I encourage you to come and cheer our swimmers on!
Starting this week, I will be choosing one kid who has demonstrated the most club spirit. This
individual will get 15 points towards their swim team games team! This week, Sam Clark has
demonstrated the most club spirit. When Sam isn’t taking lessons, he helps the staff out with chores,
plays with the younger kids, and always has a smile on his face! 15 points for the mothers!
I look forward to seeing you all at Regatta this weekend. Come full of spirit!

Bonjour Marois,
Katie
THE FOUR CORNERS
Hello everyone, as I am writing this down, I am in the middle of packing
for the Junior canoeing trip. By the time the informer is out, we will all be
back, surely exhausted, but also happy to have made new memories.
Canoeing has been great these past two weeks! Yes, at the end of the
day I get home pretty tired, but it’s safe to say it is because of the crazy
energy all of my canoers have! It seems like they all love learning - okay
maybe they prefer playing - and I love teaching all of them. I am looking
forward to another couple weeks of fun in the sun!
Although every kid has been amazing, I would like to highlight one canoer
that has stood out ever since the fi rst class. She is always smiling and
keen to learn. New to our canoeing program and LMCC, Victoria W. has
been doing a great job and I want to give her a big thank you for her
outstanding attitude in every class!
Good job everyone, keep up the great work!
Hi all!
Our second tennis week is now in the books and I must say I
could not be happier with how things are going on the court. I also
wanted to remind parents that tennis classes are never cancelled
due to weather. If ever it is raining, class will still be held in the
clubhouse.
See you on the courts,
Tom
Hello again everyone! What a week it has been on the water!! Monday was
an especially windy day, which made for some awesome sailing and a great
learning opportunity for all the awesome sailors in Sailing A and Sailing B. It
seems like everyone is getting better and more comfortable in the boat by the
minute, and they will only continue to improve. This weeks most dedicated sailor
is Fabienne Pilon, who was always asking questions and eager to learn. 15
points for the Mothers! Keep it up Fabienne!
Bonjour encore tout le monde ! Quelle semaine sur l’eau !! Lundi
Le “Most
apprendre. 15 points pour les Mères!! Bravo Fabienne!

Despite some bad weather at the beginning of the week,
swimmers managed to be as involved and enthusiastic as ever!
Also, mid-term progress reports were handed out to the parents
of those in our RCSK levels (that excludes the bronze courses).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s
progress in swimming, please do not hesitate to speak to me
or their instructor(s). The Bronze Medallion and Cross students
have been working very hard, enduring two tough hours each day!
I am immensely proud of them and their progress, and I have
confi dence in their abilities. A special thank-you to Damian, the
bronze evaluator, for coming in to pre-evaluate the kids so that
they may be as prepared as possible for their exam next Friday.
Finally, this week’s star swimmer has shown an enormous
amount of dedication, always pushing herself to go above and
beyond her goals. Congratulations to Emily Kellet! Keep up the
great work, Emily! Your Mothers/Kings team will receive 15 points
thanks to you!
Have a great rest of the week, everyone!
Emily
Hi everyone!
These first two weeks have been such an amazing start to a wonderful summer! I find it hard
to believe that we are already half way through first session. Tie-dye, pirate hats, and a clue hunt
were all tremendous hits this week and I am completely thrilled with how everything has turned out
so far! I cannot wait for the kids to see all the activities that are planned to take place over the next
two weeks! I would also like to give a HUGE thank-you to Lynn Bergeron for her donation of arts and
crafts supplies from 3M and another HUGE thank-you to Amy Tomlinson for running out to Joe Fresh
to pick-up some shirts for the tween clubbers to tie-dye last week! Starting this week, we have
introduced a new spin to all the courses offered at the club: a winner of the most dedicated kid (in
each program) of the week. The winner will be awarded 15 points for their Mothers/Kings team and I
would like to announce that the winner of this week is Victoria Wutherich! Congratulations!

Marois rocks!
Vous êtes cool Marois!
Big Thank you to all the Hipsters and Hippies who were involved with PNO last weekend.
We were overwhelmed by the hard-work and cheerful support of the volunteers. From the setup
crew on Friday afternoon, the flowers power centerpiece builders, the servers , the bartender who was
kept very busy all night, to the cleanup and take down crew on Sunday (Tom L., Helen L., Britt B., Jim
K., Dave F., Todd R., Todd H., Peggy H., Sue K., Sue D., Graham C., Brennan C., Sean D., Neal D., Peter
J., Greg W., Joe G., Katie H., Adrienne R., Michele Z., Julie P., Tara S, Brett H, Hilary A., Mike D., Tom
M., Sid C., Marcus L., and sorry in advance for those we may have missed). A week prior to the event,
we lost our lead singer not knowing that he would be replaced by three (four if you include Mick
Jagger) other world-class yet local singers who played together for the first time the night of the
party. Thanks to Pascal, Stephanie, and Rick for headlining an amazing show. We also believe we got
the perfect weather for the event in that it was comfortable temperature wise inside and literally
brought us closer together. We could not have asked for more.
It may have looked like a big production, but honestly it was only a few hours of work with our friends
and some logistics. It was so much fun!
Hippies versus Hipsters by Maeve Muldowney
The Hipster Pre-Party by Todd Richards
dimanche matin. (Tom L., Helen L., Britt B., Jim K., Dave F., Todd R., Todd H., Peggy H., Sue K., Sue D.,
Graham C., Brennan C., Sean D., Neal D., J. Peter, Greg W., Joe G., Katie H., Adrienne R., Michele Z.,
On n’aurait

An afternoon swim
. . . in memory of Bob Anderson
As I'm sure you've all noticed,
there's been something missing at
the club every afternoon this
summer. That's because each
summer (and some Springs and
Falls), Bob Anderson would be at
the club around 3:30pm to do what
he called his "laps" (note: there was
never more than 1 lap). Bob passed
away on December 21 2015 which
was 6 months after his diagnosis of
amyloidosis and multiple myeloma.
Because his afternoon swim was his
favourite part of the day, we thought
it would be nice to gather at the club
for a swim in his memory. Please
join us at the club on Saturday July
23 at 3:30pm for a swim.
We hope to see you there!

Hello everyone, I am working with the legendary Bruce Garland to help keep the trophies up to date.
It seems like we have lost data for the past 5 years when it comes to the junior tennis trophies. If you
have any memory of your child, family, or friends having won those tournaments, then please send
me a note at [email protected] or connect with Kirstin via Facebook or use the
clubs’ Facebook group.
In some years the groupings were not exactly as mentioned in the grid: don’t worry! Just tell me what
you won or when you were the finalist, and I will do the rest.
Thanks for the help!
