Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics

The Insti tute of Health and Ergonomics is off ering in 2020 for the fi rst ti me the Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics.

During years of intensive occupati on with the topic of ergonomics the idea evolved at the IGR of providing a forum for exemplary soluti ons and of bringing together all those involved – providers and producers on the one side and users and purchasers on the other side.

Why an ergonomics prize?

• You have set yourselves the task of shaping our working world to be a li� le healthier and a li� le more human through innovati ve products and outstanding design. • You have given thought as to how work in the future might look. • You have developed concepts as to how work and leisure ti me can increasingly merge. • You carry out exemplary training courses and events of lasti ng benefi t for healthier behaviour.

Mission for Healthier Working

Through the Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics the Insti tute of Health and Ergonomics is pursuing its aim of raising awaren-ess in companies and organisati ons of the subject of ergonomics, of promoti ng ergonomic workplace design and of provi-ding guidance on the purchasing of high-quality, ergonomic products and services.

At the same ti me, the prize is intended to be an incenti ve for the manufacturers of ergonomic products to strive for the highest quality requirements in terms of their product and advisory service.The prize thus contains an element which at the same ti me has a practi cal business orientati on and is socially relevant.

Who will be nominated?

The IGR insti tute will identi fy companies and authoriti es that especially promote the topic of ergonomics. Awards will be issued to concepts which are of a pioneering nature in their enti rety:

• Product developments or ranges of products which aim towards a goal of healthier working, such as the ongoing development of parti cular forms of seati ng. • Exemplary measures for the promoti on of internal company health. • Soluti ons which set new standards for the humane design of working environments as a response to the challenge of digitalisati on and demographic development. • Innovati ve training courses and concepts.

Evaluati on criteria

Evaluati on criteria are the verifi able specifi c properti es of the products and soluti ons in terms of:

• a health-promoti ng or preventi ve functi on • product quality and design as an expression of functi onality and durability • user guidance, ease of operati on, handling under working conditi ons, self-explanatory functi ons • behavioural ergonomics, the assessment of concepts for the sustainable promoti on of personal and internal company health • quality of service and advice, qualificati on and training of all those involved in the development process and implementati on of the products or service • sustainability, ecology, maintenance or exceeding of social standards

Nominati on

Nominati ons are made by the IGR. They will be published on the IGR internet site.Nominati on is free-of-charge. A one-off fee will be charged for the promoti onal use of the logo “Nominated for the Inno-vati on Prize for Ergonomics 2020” (see “Promoti onal Use of the Logo”).For the usage of the logo “Nominated for the Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics 2020” by the company awardedthe ti tle a one-off fee of € 1,490.- will be charged.

Can companies also apply for the Innovati on Prize that have not been nominated?

In additi on to the nominati ons issued by the IGR we would like to grant any interested companies and independent developers the opportunity to make an unsolicited applicati on with ergonomic products or fully developed and workable services.

The IGR will then decide whether a nominati on will be issued.

Promoti onal Use of the Logo

The logo ”Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics 2020“ may be used for promoti onal purposes by the company during the enti re life cycle of the product which has received the award in all media, a one-off fee of € 2,490.- will be charged for this. This includes the prize-winner package:

• Usage of the “Innovati on Prize for Ergonomics 2019“ logo • High-quality design trophy • Online publicati on • Prize-giving ceremony by the IGR, Insti tut für Gesundheit und Ergonomie, at a locati on determined by the prize winner

Innovation Prize for Ergonomics

Prize-giving

The prize-giving ceremony will take place at an event to be determined by the prize winner, for example at an industry fair such as Orgatec, A+A or Logimat etc. or at a company internal, public event such as a sales conference, annual event, anniversary show etc. The costs of the event will be borne by the prize winner.

Jury

The jury will be made up of representatives of the IGR e. V. and of experts who cooperate with the institute.

Deadlines & registration • Period of application: 1 January 2020 – 30 June 2020 • Announcement of the winners: 31 Juli 2020

The desired date for the awarding of the prize will be individually agreed with the winners.
