Playback (Presentations & channels)

The Terminal

LCD display size at least 32’’ (although it can be of any size)

Special purpose computer that drives the display

Has broadband access (including WiFi)

Has a general purpose multimedia-player

Runs reliable software with limited possibility of local adjustments (linux based)

The terminal shows one channel at any given time.

Terminal management is carried out remotely.

Presentation:

A multimedia composition which is played back on the terminal without human intervention

Channel:

A sequence of Presentations, based on time succession

The customer has control of the ‘presentations’, through the ‘channels’

Defines one or more information channels with reference to the presentations

Uploads the static content of the presentations

Defines the dynamic content of the presentations

Potential Users:Companies /organizations that

seek for the continuous presentation of content on digital signs

are willing to use the service instead of become DS providers (i.e. buying equipment, software etc.)

have in place presentations and channels and want to use digital signs as an alternative distribution means.

Digital Signs: Service Description

The Digital Signs Service allows the management and presentation of static/dynamic information, sound and video on large digital display screens.

In practice the customer of the service has the possibility to present his/her own ‘programme’ (potentially different for each presentation point) in a location where there are appliances with broadband connections to the internet.

Description of service modulesService Provision Module: it includes the Terminal Management, the Services Management, controls the Content Repository and provides the Customer Interface

Playback Module: is an LCD display terminal of at least 32’’, showing one specific information channel at any time.

User Access Module:allows the user to define presentations and channels, as well as monitoring the terminals

Content Creation Module: a stand alone module used for content creation, content validation and content upload

Service Cost

The cost of the service includes the following elements:

Flat cost per presentation point, per month (leasing service)

1st and 2nd level technical support including call centre cost and online support cost.

Profit to be shared between the ISP and service owner, if a collaboration agreement is in place.
