T he Hospital Guild for TCHS and the Foun-dation for TCHS award
several $500 scholarships an-nually. The applicants for the scholarships must be either a high school senior graduat-ing from a Thayer County high school or a non-traditional stu-dent currently residing or work-ing in Thayer County, enrolled or accepted into a healthcare program or college. The pur-pose of the scholarships is to provide financial assistance to eligible students and/or adults interest-ed in a career in healthcare. Priority is given to students pursuing a degree in a healthcare position currently at TCHS.
At their May meeting, the Hospital Guild recognized the five $500 health-care scholarship recipients. The Guild and Foundation for TCHS reviewed the applications and chose the 5 recipients. The scholarships included four TCHS Healthcare Scholarships and the Car-
ol Deepe Memorial Healthcare Schol-arship. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Carol Deepe, from Deshler, NE for her many years of dedication to the Guild and Foundation.
The recipient of the 2016 Carol Deepe Memorial Healthcare Scholarship is Mikaela Jo Hansen from Deshler High School. She plans to obtain a degree in speech therapy from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Recipients of the four TCHS Health-
Scholarship recipients were recognized during the May Guild meeting. Back Row: Judy McLaughlin, Guild President; Samuel Christensen; Mikaela Han-sen; and Julie Deepe, daughter of Carol Deepe. FrontRow: Kylea Hintz and Trista Sloane.

Each year, the Foundation for Thayer County Health Ser-vices holds their Golf Tour-
nament Benefit. This year the proceeds from the event will go to-ward the future renovation project for the Specialty Clinic. The project will allow TCHS to improve the cur-rent care provided, and in the fu-ture, be able to offer new special-ized services.
