This is a great fall festival, so make plans now to attend! In mid-August Diane and I jour- neyed to Toledo, OH for a vendor open house. They sponsored a Creative Grids workshop that was excellent! There have been 6 new rulers released recently. We were able to learn how to use them from the designers. In addition we par- ticipated in an evening networking The Fabric Rack Elizabeth Studios must have had Somerset County in mind when they designed Headin’ Home . The barns, covered bridges, and rail fence rows have a perfect country look and feel for a down home project. From Real Tree for those hunting enthusiasts come Deer in Moonlight . This panel will be perfect for the upcoming fall season. Most of us have an outdoorsman in our life that would enjoy this addition to their man cave. There are coordinates to make a quick and easy quilt. Additions to our Civil War Reproduction section are Moda’s Civil War Jubilee designed by Barbara Brack- man and Love designed by Howard Mar- cus. There are fat quarter bundles and yardage. Marcus Brothers has also released new repro fabrics that are now in stock. Hoffman holiday metal- lics are always a favorite for projects. You cardinal lovers will fall in love with this year’s release. Let’s not leave out our favorite winter-time charac- terSnowmen. Benartex has designed a great series called Snowfolk and features a panel with plaids, snow- flakes, and “faces” as coordinates. Details: Back by popular demand, seating is limited to 5. Learn how to use a double needle

and double-fold bias tape to make this wall quilt keepsake. The kit is required and includes the

fabric for the front and back, as well as the bias tape, batting, and web adhesive needed. The

thread and 4.0 double needle are not included.

Table Runner of the Month Club

Schedule: Second Monday evening of each month Jan—Dec, 2013 Time: 6 p.m.—8 p.m.

Instructors: Wendy Airesman/Diane Graham Fee: $10/Month

Details: Come join your friends and make new ones at this fun evening of instruction.

Each month there will be a technique or gadget demonstrated to construct a table run-

ner. There are refreshments and a door prize at each meeting. Advance sign up is re-

quested. Stop in to see next month’s project. At September’s club, Wendy will show the

Reversible Strippy Table Runner. In October, Diane will demonstrate Gemini by Moose

Trax Designs.

Kids Project Night

Schedule: Second Friday of each Month Class Fee $15 Instructors: Wendy Airesman &

Time: 6—9 p.m. Ages: 9—16 Diane Graham

Details: A simple project will be featured each month. Basic sewing skills will be incorporated and act as

building blocks for students to advance to more difficult projects. This is a great venue to get your student

started sewing. Depending on the progress, an additional night may be added to complete projects each

month.

Criss Cross Skill Level: Beginner Technique: Stitch & Flip/Quilt as you Go

Schedule: Wednesday Afternoons Oct 30, Nov 6, & 13 1—4 p.m. Class Fee: $45

Instructor: Diane Graham

Details: This class features the Batting Buddy, a tool that makes it easy to quilt your project as

you construct it. The featured pattern is Criss Cross and can be done in any size.

UFO Work Days

Schedule: Thursdays from 10 a.m.—2 p.m. Class Fee $5 Instructor: Wendy Airesman

Details: Bring your unfinished projects (UFOs) and get some help to complete them. Advance registration is

required, due to limited seating.

Heartfelt Holiday Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced Technique: Fussy Cutting, Block Construction

Schedule: Afternoons Nov 4, 11, 18 & 25 1—4 p.m. or Class Fee: $60

Evenings Oct 31, Nov 7, 14, & 21 6—9 p.m. Instructor: Wendy Airesman

Details: Learn how to fussy cut the words from this Christmas panel and incorporate them

into a stunning holiday quilt. The finished size is 55” x 63” and will make a great addition to

your home for this Christmas season.

Wow! With the kickoff behind us, anticipation is continuing to build for

this year’s annual Country Roads Shop Hop. Passport sales have been

great and comments from you, our customers, are very encouraging. All

of the participating shops are looking forward to bringing you a great

experience this year. If you haven’t already done so, get your passport now and make your

plans for October 23—26. If you need transportation from Somerset, please call soon to

reserve your seat.

Quilt Display & Sale Saturday, September 21, 2013

4th Annual

The Sewing Box is again sponsoring a quilt display and sale during the annual Scarecrow

Festival at Georgian Place. There will be a “Scarecrow Pick” prize awarded to the quilt with

the most votes. The prize will be a $100 gift card. So be sure to encourage your friends,

family, and neighbors to attend the festival and have their opportunity to vote! Visitors to

the quilt display will be asked to pay a $1 admission fee.

If you would like to enter your quilt(s) in the display, a completed registration form is re-

quired by Monday 9/9. The form can be downloaded from The Sewing Box website or

picked up at the store. The quilt(s) should be brought to the store on 9/18 or 9/19 from

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pickup is Saturday after the display or the following Monday.
