Step 1 Connecting the Loom to the Commodore Harness

Note: Make sure all wires are run in a suitable location to avoid rubbing, sharp edges and heat (exhaust) Find a suitable location for the Fuse and Relay box – secure with supplied hardware Connect the large white connector from our loom onto the corresponding plug on your factory Commodore loom.

Connect the 6 pin black connector from our loom onto the corresponding plug on your factory Commodore loom.

Step 2 Connecting the Loom to the Vehicle (Engine Bay)

Connect the green wire with white connector labelled A/C Comp Clutch to your original A/C compressor clutch wire from your vehicle.

Thermo fan wiring (if required):

The large Orange/Blue wire is to be connected to the positive side of the fan. The smaller Orange/Yellow is to be connected to the negative side of the fan. This circuit is fused at 30 amps – if you are going to exceed this you may need to run a second relay and fused power using these wires as a trigger for the second fan.

Starter motor wiring:

You have 2 options for starter motor wiring. The easiest option is option 1 Option 1: The simplest way to wire the starter motor is to use the wiring direct from your original vehicles starter motor. This wiring is already connected to the key and battery so you are ready to go. Tape up the Starter wires in our loom and secure out of the way. Option 2: Your other option is to run the starter motor through our loom. Connect the large purple wire labelled Start Solenoid to the solenoid on the V6/V8 starter motor. The smaller purple/red wire labelled Start SW will need to be connected to the original starter solenoid wire. You will also need to fit a large diameter main starter motor power wire from the battery – this is not supplied in our kit. Note: If your Commodore engine/computer was from an automatic vehicle and you are not running the Commodore Automatic transmission you will need to bypass the Park/Neutral shift lockout for the ECU to allow cranking.

Fuel Pump Wire

Run the large purple wire labelled Fuel Pump to your external and or in-tank fuel pump.

Reverse light wiring

Note: Only used if running the Commodore automatic transmission You will need to locate the reverse light wires from the original gearbox and connect the Brown/Blue and Green wires in our loom. Orientation isn’t critical as both of these wires are above earth.

Step 3 Connecting the Loom to the Vehicle (Inside the Vehicle)

Run the section of loom fitted with the OBDII plug, pink wire and the blue wire into the cabin. Find a suitable position and mount the OBDII connector under the dash.

Ignition Power

Connect the wire labelled IGN + to a reliable ignition positive power wire. Make sure this wire has power when the key is turned to ignition and still has power when the key is turned to crank. (Some ignition wires loose power when the vehicle is cranking)

Economy Power Switch

Note: Only used if running the Commodore automatic transmission Connect the Blue wire labelled Eco Power to the economy power button. The other side of the switch needs to be connected to earth.

Tacho Signal

The Brown/Red wire is the tacho signal out of the Holden computer, this wire needs to be connected through a tacho interface which is then connected to the original vehicles tacho.

Step 4 Main Battery Connections

Positive Connect the wire labelled Batt + to the positive terminal on the battery. Negative Connect the wire labelled Earth to the negative terminal on the battery.

Step 5 Alternator Wiring

The alternator wiring does not run through our loom. The alternator plug in some Nissan and Toyota models will fit directly onto the LS1 alternator. The LS1 alternator requires a constant power feed and an ignition feed supplied through the alternator check light on the dash to work correctly.

Step 6 Oil Pressure and Water Temperature Sender Adaptors

Note: Do not over tighten the senders in the adaptors – use thread sealant and or copper washer Oil Pressure Fit the supplied Oil Pressure Sender adaptor (MFK669G3) to the rear of the LS1 engine, fit the Nissan or Toyota sender to the adaptor. Connect the original oil pressure sender wire to the Nissan or Toyota sender. Note: Some Nissan oil pressure switches operate at much higher pressure than the GM type, if the oil light comes on or flickers at idle you will need to change the switch. We have used a Tridon switch part number TPS008, they have the same terminal as the Nissan switch and can be purchased from most spare parts outlets (Bursons etc) Water Temperature Nissan - Fit the supplied Water Temp Sender adaptor (MFK640G3) to the rear of the right hand cylinder head (you will need to remove the factory plug in the head). All EFI engines are fitted with two senders, one for the ECU and one for the gauge. The thread on the gauge sender is M12x1.25, fit this sender to the adaptor in the head and connect the factory Nissan wiring. Toyota - Fit the supplied Water Temp Sender adaptor (MFK707G3L) to the rear of the right hand cylinder head (you will need to remove the factory plug in the head). Some engines are fitted with two senders, one for the ECU and one for the gauge. The thread on the gauge sender is M16x1.5, fit this sender to the adaptor in the head and connect the factory Toyota wiring.
